Crafting sucks.

Finally got the 5 mod wand recipe, and whipped up 10 for 1.4 million gold, along with hundreds of the purple essence and tears.

The highest dps wand I made - 615dps. Are you friggin kidding me? My current 1h mace is 975dps, which cost me 1.6 million on the AH, so I was at least hoping to maybe see some nice 800ish range wands with good mods... but no.

That has got to be the thing that pisses me off the most about D3. Why the hell is a base weapon's damage for crafting around 200? Why am I finding rare lvl 60 weapons with 128dps in Inferno A3? Why does a near perfect weapon have a mod like "Causes the enemy to bleed for 16-19 damage over 5 seconds" (where mobs have hundreds of thousands of health)?

It's like they didn't even try to match the gear to the game, but had two teams developing the parts seperately.

Because the base DPS for [almost?] all of the top tier 1h weapons is 200ish.

Base DPS of a weapon really has little to do with the overall DPS, what makes or breaks a weapon is the mods. You essentially need to get lucky enough to roll a fat flat +damage mod as well as a high +% damage mod to make something worth using. The only reason you don't see lower tier weapons reaching thousands of DPS is because the monsters that drop those weapons (or presumably the item level when crafting) is not high enough to allow such powerful mods.

And, of course, you find those kinds of underperforming weapons because it's all random. The only restriction on Inferno loot is that it will not drop any items below item level 50. I would presume there's some kind of 'minimum' level for the mods as well but that's just a guess.

AH AH AH AH AH!

Got quite lucky last night and found a 900 dmg 1h wiz wand for 190k. The 2nd half of act 2 inferno is still too damn hard so idk what else to do now. Quit I guess

to the guy stuck on inferno act 1 wondering where he should farm. I would farm Hell Cows (ponies) for money and the occasional good item to sell/use, and buy level 60 items on the AH.

I've actually ended up farming respledent chests in act1. Decent money and they're weak enough for me so far (except for bullshit mods on elites)

There is no minimum for level 60 weapon mods. I got a weapon with +1-3 lightning damage...

Yea, for anyone who can't do Halls of Agony yet, Fields of Misery is a pretty decent spot to farm in Act 1.

You can find a Resplendent chest sometimes right on the map in a 'grove' where you also fight a unique tree, I think it tends to be SW of the waypoint.

Scavenger's Den and the Lost Mines also are randomly generated there, which I believe both have a RC on level two 100% of the time, as well as a few Bloody Chests (though I have no idea if Bloody Chests drop any differently from Chests).

Additionally, if you find the event where you save the farmer and his 'wife' I'm pretty sure you get a RC for saving them. I think that's the event where you find a farmhouse with a dead 'wildebeast' outside it; click the beast and it spawns a bunch of burrowers as well as a unique one you have to kill to complete the quest.

Sometimes I'll run through those after doing Butcher if I'm looking for a change in scenery, I always seem to come away with quite a few yellows at least.

yes, you can farm all the items in whatever difficulty you want (I did it in nightmare), then you make the normal staff and buy the plans to upgrade it at the act 4 vendor of each difficulty. I joined a friend to get the waypoint for the inferno plans and it has been awesome so far. ponies are easy to kill, they have no special moves like all the mobs in act2,3,4 have...and they have a chance to drop the best items available in the game. I have made a ton of money from this already, and I can barely even beat act 2 inferno.

What are current gem prices? I bought some and re-put them up at a higher cost hoping eventually they'll go that way.

Also, I'm not sure I know exactly how the gem auctions work...I put up 30 gems at once; does that mean that someone has to specifically state they want 30 gems to be able to see my listing, or if someone wants one they will be able to pull from mine and then I'll have 29 left?

I'm scared for you guys who are buying gems to resell...

But the gems go into a pool and they get bought by best price. They don't have to all sell at once.

It was a gamble; either the price will go up and I'm golden, or I have a bunch of gems that I'll use anyways.

A great farming place in Act I Inferno is the Southern Highlands. The Cave of the Moon Clan always spawns. It always has a resplendent chest on the bottom level. There are a total of three boss packs in it as well. There's about a 50/50 chance you'll find a treasure pygmy too. Just portal to the Highlands Crossing way point and you can usually find the Cave in a few minutes.

The gem AH is really a pain to use, I wish I could set a limit price on what I'm willing to pay. As it is now it seems when you buy, the price you have to agree to is quite high(as a buffer) but you may end up buying your gems at the agreed upon price or you may end up getting a large refund. It's the avg price of the last 10 trades that you will likely end up having to pay but it's all based on timing.

Like a poster above said, I'm not concerned with gem prices, worst case scenario I start working towards a radiant star. I'm only buying the dex and vit gems. The prices may go down a bit more over the weekend but I don't imagine flawless squares to fall so far as to become vendor trash. There's always a demand for gems.

My brother purchased probably 1000 gems yesterday - dropped a ton of money. But he's preparing for the next patch to reduce gem crafting costs.

I didn't know gems only stacked to 30, and did the same last night with regular squares since they are actually cheaper to buy and combine(post 1.03 patch) and ended up with my stash filled with them. I had to make a mule. I ended up buying flawless squares anyway, I need the space.

It works like the FFXI AH if that helps at all.

Essentially all the items for sale are placed into a pool and are tagged for whatever price you set. Then whenever someone buys, it simply pulls from the lowest priced items and then moves upward until the desired quantity is filled or the displayed price is 'breached'. I don't think the latter scenario would be very common except in instances of extremely low supply items.

why am I watching this terrible friggin video...is there anything of value in here?

I didn't watch either, just gave the link. The OP in the battlenet thread summarized the video.

To summarize this long thread, the gold farmer has been stealing email/password data from 3rd party fan sites/wikis/forum websites for years going back to WoW. They have a bot who tries those in Diablo 24 hours a day until a match is found and then of course they rob it. Out of millions of stolen account information from these 3rd party sites about 10,000 so far were matches for Diablo logins.

They also try the login info in paypal and when a match is found they buy several copies of the game for their bots/mules/gold selling accounts.

The gold seller's pc running several bot accounts farming the blacksmith's wife on normal brings in about 4 million a hour which is a huge payday for a Chinese citizen. Each bot can load the quest and kill her in about 1-2 minutes.

The gold seller initially invested around $6,000 to get started at the game's release which covered computers and startup accounts.

The gold seller actually wants Blizzard's anti-cheat program called Warden updated to detect the bots because he says amateurs using inferior injection bots are taking a piece of his income. He is confident his bot is superior to any such patch so basically he wants his competition gone.

using several bot accounts... he could be doing like 5 runs every 2 minutes. Or maybe 20, or 100

Lol. So he contacted this guy to try and get Blizzard to do something about his competition so he can make more money. Seriously. lul.

Its funny these idiots turn a video game into a means to exploit and make money. Not that that is new or anything.

And that video is terrible.... Its like we give a rats ass about his real voice or what he looks like....

The elites in A3 Inferno are retardedly hard, especially when the base mob has natural teleport or ranged, so I started farming Treasure Bandits and Resplendant chests instead.

The A2 TB run I do, allows me to find 2 TB's in under 5 minutes (if they spawn). Sometime both spawn, sometimes one, and sometimes none. Found a Mempo something legendary helm I sold for 1.4 million gold, perfect star ruby pattern, and a bunch of 50kish AH items which isn't bad, but no weapon upgrades can drop for me in A2.

Alternatively I do 2 resplendant chests in A3, but depending on the elites in the area, I usually just teleport in to see if it's there then nab the loot asap.

How to do it :

Choose quest "The Black Soulstone" in A2 Inferno. You will start at the Hidden Camp. Take the Ancient Path (?) wp, and go right up the stairs... go all the way til the map starts winding (not far). If you don't see a Treasure Bandit yet, he isn't there.

Then take the WP to "Road to Alcarnus". This is a really good area, that usually spawns with 2 chests and about 20 bodies/vases/piles of bones, and potentially another Treasure Bandit and potentially 1 of 2 unique (purple name) bosses. You have to be careful and clear the area here, since some mobs take alot of dmg to kill around the TB, and you don't want it getting away.

The A3 resplendant run - start at Siegebreaker or Heart of Sin. If SB, take the Rakkis wp and see if the Underbridge dungeon is open; if HoS go back through SB's lair to see if it's there (it's right before the bridge narrows right before SB).

The second resplendant is in the Halls (?) lvl 1 wp. Both the chests only spawn if the dungeon is a certain layout - once you find them, check the map and instantly leave if you get in another game and it isn't the same layout. Even with the correct layout, sometimes they don't spawn also, but both the chests are quite close to the entrances (3-6 rooms) so if you do get the correct layout, run in and see if it's there.

Anyone else got any inferno runs that are good like these?

It basically confirms how hackers are stealing your information.

Also, he is having to run a massive amount of accounts to make 4 million an hour on normal. I am sure there are better places to farm, in fact, I know of a few.

His bot can be detected, but how much does Blizzard care?

Weez all gonna get hacked by the Chinese!

My mana runs out mighty quick, do I just have to get items that increase mana capacity and replenishing?

When is the inferno nerfing patch coming? Getting tired of doing endless inferno butcher runs.
