Holy shit? $100 for a weapon? I think I am done for good...I was expecting the RMAh to get me back into the game to be able to deck out my guy for $10-$15 or so.

WTF with the lag. Like 20 mins and it still loading, slowly.

And I just died for the first time because it locked up while fighting. Ugh. First time for everything though.

Seeing all this stuff selling for decent money on the RMAH reminds me of a guy I know who was able to buy a 60" TV and pay for a 1-week trip for him and his wife to Hawaii just with money he made from selling stuff in D2. Never be surprised by what lengths people are willing to go to for a game.

A very sad day for PC gaming. Oh well, just like real life now I guess. Wealthy people are going to have super specced out characters that they effectively bought, and you're going to have grunts farming shit not for themselves but for real money.

Of course, Blizzard will control the odds of what gets dropped because they don't want to flood the market. So even in solo play you're fucked. Your entire game is based around peoples bank accounts.

It actually makes me sick to see gaming become like this. I hate Blizzard.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion and I'm not trying to change it, but I don't understand this reasoning. This is ultimately a single-player or co-op game, there's nothing really competitive about it unless you like to stroke your e-peen. Somebody else spending $300 on an awesome set? I could not care less. Let them.

Now if I had to competitively face other players online that were purchasing their gear and dominating me? I wouldn't play.

You'll be naive to think they wouldn't do that.

And even if they don't (yeah right), it's still a sad day to see this event. If you find something awesome, you're first thought is going to be to throw it up on the RMAH to see how many money you can line your pockets with. Which is just ridiculous.

I think a better bet is that they create new Legendaries to repopulate the expensive items category. But you go ahead and speculate what will happen off of no information other than your unbound hatred for the game.

Actually, my first thought is "can I use this" and my second would be "how much can I sell it for?". Why is that ridiculous?

Yes... I sold an item for $2! Cha-CHING!

Hell yeah, me too only after like a minute of listing it

I don't got the balls to post stuff like some users for big bucks, I'll be happy making $5 dollars to be honest haha.

Where it can become a problem is when new content is created for games where gear can be purchased. If the purchased baseline of gear becomes to high compared to what you can find on your own it shifts the base difficulty of the game so that playing solo becomes rather difficult at a certain point because you are expected to have better gear than you can find on your own. Now most games cater to casual players and are easy so if you enjoy a bit of a challenge it is usually not to bad but there is always the risk of not being able to complete the latest challenge etc that comes out.

That game was from the grounds up designed with the MAIN priority how blizzard can milk the cow and get the most profit out of it.

The RMAH is just ultimate proof of this.

Regardless whether someone uses the rmah to buy gear or not, here are some facts:

* The loot in the game is STILL incredible crappy.
There is AFAIK no way that someone who plays "normally" gets drops to gear their character up, let alone for later stages of inferno.

You simply cannot progress in the game without spending g in the AH. Period.

* The RMAH did exactly what i expected, it made all the "good" gear appear in the RMAH and the gold AH has become the crap AH.

Good luck finding tier gear or high-end gear in the AH for gold anymore. Everyone and their mama will put this in the RMAH now.

* Due to their idiotic requirements i cannot even "make money" on the RMAH because i don't have a mobile which can receive SMS. (Mind you i am in internet marketing for years and NEVER had the requirement to receive an SMS to do a transaction - with the only, sole exception that facebook required a SMS to verify an account). This with years experience of moving money to and from my paypal and using all kinds of online payment services.

Now i am stuck with a basically defunct RMAH where i cannot sell items "for money", even if i wanted.

* The battle.net alternative to accumulate money on the battle.net account is a big, big joke. While i thought first i could take a certain advantage of this - i had to find out that the battle.net account is extremely restricted what you an can buy with this balance.

You can NOT pay your WoW subscriptions.
You can NOT transfer the money and get cash for it.
You can NOT buy anything from the "blizzard store" like mounts etc.

It's a fricking joke.

* The game was intentionally made so hard that "casual" players (however we wanna define them) have not even a remote chance beyond Act I/INF. I know some who even have problems in Act I. The crap loots are intended. Again, it all points to a well thought out scheme by blizzard by driving people to spend real money on the AH if they're "serious" about the game eg. progressing through Act2+/INF. This is my opinion.

It's a "pay to win" game with the biggest "effort" by blizzard made how they can make money from it - and NOT in gameplay or joy for whoever plays it.

Well next patch Act 1 Inferno actually has a chance of dropping the best loot in the game. Not a high chance, but there is still a chance if you 'grind it out'.

The RMAH prices are still sort of settling down. I know from playing iOS games with similar pricing structures that most people spend less than $10 on these micro transactions.

I'm a mostly casual player (less than 2hrs a day) and I finally made it to Act 2 Inferno, although I get destroyed there. I'm going to wait for the patch that adjust drop rates and just play Act 1 until I can proceed.

By the way, read my lips...

The RMAH will not last long.

Blizzard will move TONS of money via paypal..and i predict that a *huge* number of those transactions will be fraudulent and/or create problems down the road

- Kids who use their parent's credit card (typical example)
- Exploiters, Botters, Scammers (which are already all over the game)
- Shady Asian gold sellers and account hackers/account sellers
- People buying loot for real money but then find out it's not really an upgrade etc. or they find something better after they spent their money.

There is a reason why you cannot sell "virtual goods" on ebay anymore. I personally with my internet marketing background estimate an extremely high number of problematic transactions and i am actually surprised that blizzard (but also paypal etc.) went through with the RMAH. Technical problems not even considered.

Especially with paypal..if there is a huge number of fraudulent transactions/charge-backs and disputes....it can bring on a lot of problems. I think blizzard might have not thought things through very well.

There are so many risk factors that i cannot see the rmah last long. There might be other things coming like lawsuits as well if parents find out their kids spent money on gear, stuff like that.

I'm glad you know everyone's experience in the game ever. Especially mine. Especially how I haven't spent a single gold in the AH. Especially all of those who found the gear to put on the AH in the first place, since apparently no one can find any good loot. Good thing Blizzard said that Inferno was supposed to be insanely difficult (they are even patching it to make it not as hard so more people can play it) and you actually have to work for it. Good thing all those people who already made it through Inferno or past Act 2 did so before the RMAH was even released. Sorry that Blizzard wants to make the PayPal RMAH transaction secure in a game where people are bitching that it isn't secure enough.

Glad you know all.

So.. I finally dipped into my 800k gold and bought me some resist gear. Filtered everything out to <200k stuff (I'm as cheap in games as in real-life). Decked out better. Obviously not Unique quality, but it's all helped a lot. So, you can get by by farming for gold and buying cheaper stuff that works.

aren't they changing that with the new update? drops are different now for inferno

1.03 will change drop rates. Unless they already hotfixed it but I havent read anything on that. Hopefully that patch fixes things for the better. If Im able to find good gear in act1 inferno then awesome. I dont mind grinding for better gear as long as that gear can drop and right now it cant. Oh well, I need a break from d3 anyways. Hopefully GAH prices will level out (highly unlikely though) and hopefully 1.03 will be the patch d3 needs. Time will tell

So for some reason I was able to make some decent purchases in the GAH before they got snatched up. They must've turned their bots to the RMAH. That or they got banned.

Anyway, I'm up to 5 items sold totaling $154.

Went to access the RMAH for the first time. Get an error saying my account was banned from it. *sigh* I have an authenticator attached. Support ticket submitted. This game throws irritations at every turn.

Good to know people spend hours to farm D3 so they can sell stuff in RMAH for $5.....in the mean time, I will make my 6 figure in my day job and play games with real story and real fun during my spare time.

Exactly.

Diablo 3 - a game for Asian sweatshop farmers, unemployed banjo players, and people that enjoy playing rigged games.

But hey it's made by Blizzard and those guys have the souls of angels and saints. ()
