On the Resistance topic, the Monk has a passive skill that will make all Elemental resistances go up to the highest one you have.

I was thinking about targeting one Element type and using this skill instead...Will be cheaper I'm sure..
This is basically required, I don't think I have seen a single build w/o that ability. So much that people refer to "arcane monk" as an arcane resist stacking monk.

Can't help you pick which one, I went poison because I had a fair amount of poison resist at the time. Some people choose a type based on a specific legendary with x resist type and match the rest of their gear to that.

Well its official, completely uninstalled d3, nothing special to this game. Maybe in a later patch.

Have my third character to 60 and I'm done with the game also. Having played through the same levels numerous times has killed any motivation to grind inferno. There either needs to be additional content or a max level increase to bring me back.

The least they could do is open up Act 2, 3, and 4 of Inferno to casual playing. Right now, most people seem to dabble, get raped, blow lots of gold dying in those acts, then never go back. Some do all of the above, finish the game, then go back to farming Act I. I've seen uber tanks (all barbs and monks) that are untouchable against most things in act III suddenly drop dead.

Meanwhile, I've definitely slowed down on playing with much shorter sessions and feelings of boredom. On a good note, I just sold two items in the past few hours for $5 net - I coulda made 10 times that if I had a minimum wage job.

Anyone want to comment on my stats, I am having difficulty on my first ever barb act III inferno. This is my first set of gear after reaching inferno so I have made zero tweaks which isn't bad considering I made it this far in Inferno.

Just beat Gohm but am having a hard time just starting now.

Made some upgrades, now sitting at 1.2K LOH, still do not feel comfortable in late act III though...

Dropping weapons master and picking up tough as nails for an armor increase:

Starting to miss my 200k DPS DH even though it was a glass cannon build.

anyone else finding the game very unstable for the last 10 days or so?? It seems to crash my system on roughly half my butcher runs....really annoying. I get my neph val...kill the warden and then sometimes just before other times just after I kill the butcher it crashes everything

hard is good, but near impossible without super duper gear is stupid. blizz should have run a more comprehensive beta to iron out all of the current issues. as it is, i haven't played in nearly two weeks, and am tempted to fire up D2...

What has helped me regain interest in this game was setting shorter term goals. For example, most people follow the progression of the game as Normal, NM, Hell, Inferno. They hit Inferno and die a horrible horrible death and get discouraged. Purely farming for Inferno caliber gear is a drag, and generally takes a lot of enjoyment out of the game.

What I ended up doing is capping my gems. All of my sockets minus helm and weapon were RS(last level square?). To get them all the way up to star(the last trainable rank w/out a pattern drop) is pretty expensive. While working on that and farming gold and gems, I would randomly find inferno valid gear. Which was freaking awesome.

Cliffs: Farming for inferno gear sucks, so distract yourself with something else and find it indirectly while working to a more easily obtainable goal.

I feel like a lot of my friends that I played D2 with for years have already quit. My friends list is filled with people who haven't logged on in 15, 16, 20 days, etc. I enjoy the game more now that I know how to survive better in Inferno, but there's just...something..missing from it. Maybe it's that I'm 10 years older than when I was playing D2, but this game just feels like it's not as well made. The crashes are annoying for me, and I've noticed over the last 3 weeks near omnipresent lag skipping even when my ping is below 120ms. Majorly annoying.

In addition I've noticed over the last couple weeks the costs on the AH have skyrocketed. Items that I bought for around 100K a month ago, when I put in stats similar to that item now I don't see anything with a buyout for less than 1M. That makes it majorly annoying because I don't gold farm, and most of what I put on AH doesn't sell. It's making it harder to equip my character, since the drops suck even with 5x neph. Seriously, why is a iLevel 52 rare item dropping in Act II with 5x neph? Why even bother, I'd prefer no drop at all...

Anyway, just a short ramble. I do enjoy this game still somewhat, but it's feeling more like a 2-3 month play, as opposed to the 5 year play that was D2

D3 lasted me much, much longer than D2 did and I havent played in a week or two.

D2 may have felt longer because you had more to grind for though. Grinding out thousands of Baal runs to reach 99 and having no central hub to trade (meaning you have to grind grind grind to find more of your own gear instead of being able to simply buy/sell for it) is not my idea of longevity though.

Then, darkewaffle, what IS your idea of longevity? Grinding, instead, for gold for weeks on end to afford what you need on the AH? Or simply throwing money at it on the RMAH? Do tell..

you know the biggest problem people have is the amount of commitment you need to 'farm' and the lack of progression once you beat hell. a lot of people are just getting burned out because the only thing to do is just grind, but towards no real goal.

d2 = 5 minute farm runs (tops). join a game, blaze through a zone and leave. repeat.
d3 = anywhere from 30 minutes to hours, depending on act/zone, and how far you want to go. but generally, you need at least 30 minutes to make it worthwhile otherwise you're really wasting time

d2 = beat hell, but you're only level 60ish... you still have 30+ levels to go to hit cap. for most people, just being able to level is enough of an incentive to play.
d3 = beat hell, you're at 60 already... goto inferno and then what? just farm gear? how many casual players are just going to throw away their time and effort to essentially gamble for gear?

almost ALL of the players who are played and loved d2 are now, for the most part, working adults - adults who value their time much more highly than teenagers w/ tons of time to burn. the end result? the time you need to sink into this game cannot be justified, especially when you've got other more important things in your life to do. i think i'm pretty much done. just gonna RMAH my gear, keep a barebone set for expansion, and just stop playing. i think a lot of people feel the same way.

That's the problem blizzard is facing. Every so often I log in, try to get 5 stacks and attempt to farm a bit. Everytime, I end up running into an impossible combo. I can't gear past the combos because I don't get drops for my character, and when I do get what I consider decent drops they don't sell on the AH. You basically need 2-5 million gold to decently equip your character now. And I refuse to dump real money into this game. The item farming end game isn't enough. At least when you farmed in D2 you could continue to level up and improve your character, even if slightly. Now there is nothing. I'll probably continue to log in every week or so, remind myself what a shitty job they did with end game, and go back to WoT, where at least I know my grinding is getting me closer to something.

I don't know why people have this progression obsession. If I played a game that was only enjoyable when it gave me a reward, I wouldn't want to play it.

All a game needs to be is fun to play. I don't need a carrot on a stick, I don't need a pat on the back every time I do something for it to be worthwhile or fun. It's why I've enjoyed something like Bloodline Champions or Bastions of War (old NWN mod) for so long; even after the progression is gone/done you still have something that's just flat out enjoyable to play. To me at any rate.

I never got that from D2; once I defeated Baal and then solo'd it on my own, I couldn't find any reason to play because actually playing the game was such a bore. D3 is an improvement, and while it's never been a focus of the games so the result is still button mashy/spammy, the relative step up from D2 to D3 in terms of gameplay is still like going from Whac-a-Mole to chess. Even after I cleared Inferno, I still felt the desire to play for a number of weeks just because I liked being a Barbarian and I liked the multiplayer dynamics and I felt like my skills were fun buttons to press. Personally I do really enjoy 'playing' the AH so that did a lot for me as well.

Can you fix it? To me not really. It is what it is, the dungeon crawler genre (the "Diablo" genre if you want) is pretty set in it's ways; simple, dumb gameplay with lots of shiny items for people to chase after ad nauseum. Can you extend it? Certainly, but you'll just hit the same wall later.

You need less gold than ever to decently equip your character with mid-range gear. You need more gold than ever to get the top of the line gear.

You do not need top of the line gear to clear or farm Inferno.

this.

in D2 (witch is the one game that has been on EVERY system i own since it has come out) i could play for 15 minutes and feel i have done something. IN D3 even after 2 hours of playing i haven't gained anything. gold? well depends on what elite packs i run into. Items? pfft. talk about extreamly rare

I refuse to use the RMAH and the AH is so overpriced i really can't afford anything.

whats the fun in playing if the drops are so rare that you might get 1 a week (and i play a ton).

It would help if they de-randomized loot a bit. Getting that nice bow with a bunch of int or that wizard hat with dex doesn't work. Even in wow they finally went through and adjusted some of the baseline drop stats to try and make most items possibly useful.

I think a lot of people are disillusioned about Diablo 3's Inferno difficulty. They could have easily not done something like Inferno and just left it at Hell like they did in Diablo 2. It would just be a crazy easy grind over and over again on Diablo boss at Hell diff while max leveled. Instead, they added Inferno for people who want to give it a go, not everyone is meant to succeed in the fourth level and people need to know where their limits are.
