Ugh, that is a huge nerf for monks.

Blizzard always has a problem with doing things in amounts that are too much. They never seem to be able to find the correct, moderate adjustment first time around and have to wait a few patches before getting enough complaints about something.

I agree that Seize the Initiative was a bit much, but it shouldn't be reduced to 50%. I think 70-80% would've been just right.

That's one passive that was a staple for my build. I'm certain this will change things pretty drastically for my survivability. :/

Well it doesn't change the fact that all monks are carrying OWE. They should've have fix this before nerfing armor.

Ya, OWE and StI are staples. Without those 2 a monk can't really survive without amazing gear, and I must admit, I have some pretty decent gear and still get hammered from time-to-time.

Basically, Blizzard is willing to keep throwing candy at players to beg them to stay except for the one piece of candy that players want: improved drop tables. Can't change those, because it will affect the RMAH.

The changelog smells of desperation. "Please stay! Look, we'll give you this, and this and this!" ... just not what you really want because that breaks what we really want.

Affixes on items will now roll their level based on the level of the monster killed (rather than the item’s level)
Class-specific items will now drop more often
Items below iLevel 58 no longer drop in Inferno difficulty
Square-quality gems no longer drop in Inferno difficulty

I found my first set piece around then.

I have found three gem recipes. They are dirt cheap now, you could buy them.

It's not the same.

Okay, only class I play and plan to keep playing is DH, and some changes look interesting. They screwed up bandolier though maybe.

Time to start hoarding gold. Price should go up once the patch comes out and there's a nice jump in interest.

I wouldn't mind the Monk nerf too much if almost all the other passives weren't so terrible.

Overall 1.05 changes are good. Even with the nerfs, Barbs will still be godlike.

I have to agree. Fleet Footed is one of the worst. you waste an entire passive for movement speed you wouldn't even notice.

I love Fleet Footed - it allows one to go beyond the 25% max +speed cap for equipment. This makes runs much faster. You'll notice a lot of the top/high DPS Monks run Fleet Footed. What would you use instead to speed up the MF/Lvling runs if you already have enough survival?

Reduction to Gloom and the huge nerf to trail of cinders suck for the DH

Skill Rune – Trail of Cinders
Reduced damage from 1500% to 300% weapon damage over 3 seconds
Trail can now stack

It was awesome running through A1 and vaulting through a big group with trail of cinders, watching them all melt behind you.

Finally figured out what it is about this game that irks me so much, and it was discovered in a post Blizzard recently made to describe the changes to come in the next patch:



So, they're basing an entire class tweak on a Demon Hunter character that's using one particular skill with an almost impossible to obtain full set of LEGACY armor? This is why Blizzard fails. They're fixated on the end-game level 60 Auction House whore character builds and the whole DPS model instead of actually making the game itself more interesting, which is where much of the malaise and player disenchantment lies.

Even with the above notion set aside however, the greatest tinge of sadness I feel is that no matter how future patches may affect the game, the very existence of the Auction House is what keeps this game from being great. Here's why:

- All game patches are made with the assumption that EVERYONE will use the Auction House to deck out their characters.
- Game play has been tailored so it is virtually impossible to reach Inferno level without using the Auction House to max out character stats.
- Because of the points above, non-Auction House players are unfairly robbed of the fun that comes with discovering new items, unless these players endlessly grind through "runs" for the sole purpose of getting decent drops, which then robs players of the fun of actually playing the game.

CONCLUSION: The Auction House is the Fatal Flaw in Diablo III. When it's no longer feasible to actually PLAY THE GAME to upgrade your character, the game is no longer fun.

After seeing this and being a long time player of WoW it is my conclusion that Blizzard does not know WTF they are doing when balancing classes. I played a warrior and every patch that ever came for the first 3 years was nerf to my class. The problem was blizzard only looked at the top tier players of the class and would nerf a skill that would balance the top end guys but screw 98% of the rest of the player base. I see Blizzard is still up to their old tricks. They are not winning me over.

Wrong. They'd nerf warriors in 1 patch, then slowly return the "nerf" to the original state in various smaller patches so it seems like warrior got stronger. Then they'd change the way certain skills behave and then unnerf that in another patch or so once people forget.

damn need to switch out to a rend build then now that sprint was nerfed to shit
basically you need to double your LOH and then some to maintain the healing you had before ugh.

end of low and med geared WW barbs r.i.p

Not much has changed if you had lifesteal, in fact double WW builds got buffed if you were heavy on lifesteal since cost of WW got reduced to 9 fury from 16.

Fortunately, I was more heavy on lifesteal with only about 500 loh... now LS>LoH due to the proc nerf.

i have about 700 LOH and 5.6% lifesteal right now using blood passive and 2.6 on my mainhand. if i buy a 3% life steal belt i wonder if 9.6% total LS will be enough to offset my LOH loss.

im at 51k dps unbuffed, i BARELY started to get LS gear as from what i read everyone said LS isn't usable until >50k dps

I'm a monk but I started using lifesteal at like 32k dps.
Worked out fine for me with my cyclones and large packs, but single monsters were a pain in the ass.

I'd recommend trying to bump up dps since that works 2 fold in increasing both dmg dealt and lifesteal.

no money unless i get a godly drop to dps up more, already running a 90% and 80% crit gem in my weapons. MH has inherent 50% crit dam already. it took me literally months to go from 5k dps to 50k dps slowly upgrading as i had funds.
