for those of you that dual wield with a barb, how do you know what good weapons are for it?

I use a skorn, and before that sword & board. I have no idea how dmg is calculated when you dual wield, especially for ww'ing, so any help is appreciated

This kind of confuses me to, but I usally roll with the highest damage sword\dagger that I can find with crit damage, socket, life steal. Str+vit are nice bonuses to. For main hand, i look for the same thing except an axe\mace for + crit chance bonus which is huge.

For weapons, you want a high dps main hand (get as good of stats as you can afford, and Echoing Fury is great because of the APS increase) and for an offhand you want either a sword or dagger (around 700 dps with a socket and the best crit hit damage, life steal, stats you can afford) After you have your weapons, use the calculator to determine how much increase attack speed you need to hit breakpoints. Each tick of your tornadoes (which is what does your damage, WW is simply for movement through mobs) is based off a breakpoint. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjPQvt06HFyJdHJjY1JSVEo5dkI5QUttMzY1Q0pWR2c#gid=46 is the calculator I use. Also, you can use my weapons as examples. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/ewok-1399/hero/28168109

Is Echoing fury annoying with the fear proccing so often? I would think you would be spending a lot of time chasing mobs around. Or do the tornadoes mow the mobs down so quickly that it doesn't matter?

If you use EF in your main hand, better carry around a cold damage SoJ so you don't need to chase mobs. Otherwise use EF in your offhand so your tornadoes don't cause fear. I use EF in my offhand and the fear never bothers me as it only procs during WW and even then, it's only 1/2 the time I am using WW that it will have a chance to proc.

Keep in mind that when you use EF it increases attacks per second and is not IAS. My EF adds 0.24 attacks per second, so my swing speed of my main hand weapon jumps from 1.3 to 1.54. In turn, I can afford to substitute IAS on my ammy and ring because with WotB I break the 2.23 aps breakpoint. If I dump all the IAS on my ring I will still break the 2.01 aps breakpoint as well.

I really only notice it when I am hitting a single target. The chance to proc is low enough on my tornadoes that I don't see it. Plus, I am almost always sprinting, so I can run down mobs pretty easy. Ideally, my offhand would do cold damage, but I can't find a dagger with the stats I want.

When I run solo, the fear isn't that annoying, but anyone I run with for Ubers or whatever absolutely hates the fear from my Echoing Fury because then we have to chase the elites down. It's a nice CC though.

I've been looking for something to replace it, but it's really difficult to find anything with as high DPS and stats as the one I have without spending 100m+. A WKL with LS would be nice, but they're pretty pricey.

On a monk I'm sure it is a lot more annoying than a WW barb lol. However, you do have a teleport. I guess that might help a lot.

Actually, it's less annoying for me. I often run with my brother on his WW Barb and he hates it.

I'm glad I love vortex (Cyclone Strike) to death, otherwise no one would want to play with me fearing all the mobs all over the place, hahaha.

So....despite the fact that the spreadsheet is (seemingly) pretty straightforward...I am still having trouble understanding it. What are you aiming for in terms of breakpoints?

Here's my guy: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Wasteoftime-1463/hero/4141680

I just went out and bought an echoing fury and dagger offhand to mirror you. I thought my dps would go up more, but i'm still only at roughly 50k. And you are at 200k. I was wondering if you could take a quick gander at my guy and see where I could make some (hopefully cheap) improvements to close that gap. I had about 15 million and spent almost all of it on the two weapons. So now I have like 2M.

just taking a quick look @ your barb, you need to upgrade all your gems as your STR is low.

and you need to get both your emeralds in the weapons upgraded badly too

Alright thats a start. Gonna be real expensive though. Not sure where I'll come up with the cash since its really hard to sell stuff on AH right now.

Additionally I wanted to see which follower you guys are running with for ww barb, or does it matter.

AND which run are you doing? Alkaizer's still? Thats the one I've been doing. But maybe there's a more optimal one now.

I really want to get that damn hellfire ring but the steps you need to take for it seem like they will take forever, and I havent started them yet.

I use the enchantress as my follower for her CC abilities, but some use her for her +3% AS. I put on +MF/GF% items so that it gives me a boost as well (at 20% of whatever your follower has).

Yes, your strength is low. You can probably upgrade your perfect square gems to the next level, but if you are low on cash, then I'd probably recommend finding new gear on the AH with better +strength stats. You have A LOT of intelligence for a barb.

upgrade your chest and legs. try the blackthornes set for vit. drop your ik boots for fire walkers with more str. replace your ik pieces with higher str roll pieces.

What these guys are saying, don't listen. Right now, you're at 9% IAS, you want to get to at least 26%. Boots are the last upgrade you should worry about. As long as you have 12% move speed, they won't contribute more than like 4% to your total DPS.

First upgrade: Amulet and helm. You want these 3 stats, STR, attack speed, and crit chance. Amulet: Str doesn't really matter, just some on it. IAS should be at least 7% and crit at least 6%. Helm: get an Andariel's Visage with under 10% extra fire damage. Try to get one with 9% IAS but, 8% will still put you over the breakpoint.

The next breakpoint you want would be 37%, so you're going to have to upgrade 2 more things. A ring with the same idea as the amulet and some IK gloves with IAS as well as crit. Now, since you only need 11% more, you can get 6% IAS on each and be fine.

And when shopping for jewelry, keep in mind crit damage and average damage are bonuses and if you have to pay a little extra and get one of those stats, it is worth it. I would focus more on crit damage and then average damage.

After you make those upgrades, start saving up for a good chest with 120+ Str, 60+vit, 70AR and sockets. I think I paid around 30mil for my IK chest.

Also, you can use D3UP.com to see what percentage each piece of gear you have is contributing to your DPS and EHP. It can help prioritize upgrades.

EDIT: For your follower, I'd use the scoundrel with the 3% increased crit chance. The 3% IAS you get from the enchantress is worthless unless you are within 3% of a breakpoint. It will add some sheet dps, but it won't actually effect the actual DPS you do as a WW barb.

This is my guy. While the fear on the EF is annoying I can usually kill fairly quickly on Mp5 (which is were I do most of my solo hunts) and isn't annoying. I also have SoJ I can throw on for the extra health packs or the annoying/hard combos they sometimes have.

While not the best barb, he's pretty stout...I need to work on his res though.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Badco-1829/hero/16528259

58% IAS increase on him.

I've never used that calc sheet before. I think I will check it out. Thanks for linking it Smack.

IS there a calc I can use that utilizes the stats from the rest of my equipment?

I am not sure, however, D3Up.com is a great place to kind of get an idea of what is contributing to DPS and eHP.

Many thanks for the info smack. I was able to procure a decent necklace last night for about 1M, took me up to 60k dps but now I'm broke. How are people making money nowadays with nothing selling in AH? Are you just severely underpricing things so they actually sell? I pretty much only pick up legendaries and set items (well, never found one of these actually) when I grind.

I have made around 500m in the past month on the AH.

Midrange doesn't sell anymore. It has to be exceptional for something to sell these days.

The launch thing for the game is letting you sign up for the 1.07 test realm, so probably going to be a while until it comes out. I'm bored.

Yeah I'm bored too. I played a bit yesterday as there were a few people online I used to run with. We did some farming, then some ubers. That was alright.

I blew 100M gold on a witching hour. It upped my dmg by ~12k I think.
