When the market rate on other sites is like $0.09 per million, its hard to move it for $0.25. I wish they would remove the cap so gold sites would have some competition.

If they removed the cap, it'd become completely "uneconomical" (like a $.25/hr rate is worth it...) to farm gold.

I was/am hoping that buying through an "official" channel would warrant a price premium to some people.

Oh well, time to upgrade my Manticore then.

You'd think it would be worth a premium but more than twice the the price? The value shopper though doesn't care about official channels though.

Removing the cap doesn't effect Blizzard at all. Why do they care if gold is $.01 per minute. You still have to buy at least $1 worth of items and they get the 15% regardless. This would combat gold farming sites because if the value does drop that low, it makes it uneconomical for them to farm. And they might just start using the RMAH to sell, which benefits Blizzard.

I meant "uneconomical to farm" for regular players at the rate of roughly $0.25/hour for a human player. Thought it was implied, but guess not.

Said I was "hoping" people would ignore the price difference considering we're talking about $0.09 versus $0.25 per unit. And one vendor guarantees product, the other could be a scammer. Obviously, that's not the case and items are becoming so cheap and gold so much easier to farm that only hardcore players (and really lazy people?) likely buy gold to buy uber items -- hardcore players who know how to find reliable third-party gold vendors.

The only one who would benefit from letting the price of gold drop is Blizzard.

Realistically, Blizzard has stated they don't want D3 to be the source of income for anyone. It isn't meant to be a job. Items themselves still sell. I started selling items for BNET balance, then converting to gold.

I was just hoping to supplement my income at like a dollar or two a day from selling crap -- yes, I realize how incredibly stupid and a waste of time it is. And yes, I am employed.

Oh well, think I'm up to 700+ hours by now and Act 3's getting boring. I did get my Manticore upgrade and am now at about 185k dps. Otherwise, I might disappear until the expansion comes out. Got my money's worth.

I was happy getting my 350 hrs out of the game before I quit about 5 months ago after most of my friends stopped logging in. D3 has its flaws, but it has some fun game mechanics.

I've slowed down a lot, I only log in for a few hours a week. I'm sure like D2 I'll be playing this game for years to come though. I have all classes up to level 60, and my highest paragon is lvl 40, so I still have a lot of leveling left.

I saw a profile the other day that had all 8/10 slots full, all hardcore, most of them at level 60, and 1 of them really high into paragon (I think it was around level 80).

I couldn't imagine playing that much hardcore. Every now and then I screw up and get surprised killed and think about how much that would suck if that was hardcore.

Yeah I play once per week maybe, no one I know logs on anymore, never see people from AT on there either. Not really fun without a group now.

I've killed the Act IV Keywarden at least thirty times at varying MP and still haven't gotten the plan. I have a ton of all the keys, is the drop rate for the plan lower?

Seeing as how you do have keys, I'm guessing you know you need NV5. And for ever MP level, you get an extra 10% chance of it dropping.

Found and sold some ice climbers today for 275M...

I'm on usually once or twice a week for a few hours now.

Yup. I mostly run it at MP1-3, but I've tried it as high as five with no luck. And Act IV is my least favorite place to farm.

Try MP5... I remember it took forever to get the Act4 plans too because I kept running MP3 and under. Keys are very hard to come by below MP4 (40% chacne, so 60% chance no to...). Good luck because getting NV5 in Act 4, I find, is the hardest part.

I tried buying emeralds with gold to sell on the RMAH for real money... If you do the math, the cost of gold is now about $0.09/million which all the third-party people are selling it for. Not worth the time anymore.

Never. But it went from $1 a day to $1 a week.

I was selling items I found on RMAH for a bit more than their gold counterpart at $0.25 a mil for BNET balance. Then I would flip the balance for gold. Selling an item worth 100mil for $27.99, take the $26.99 and be happy I didn't get taxed 15%. Haven't found anything to try with this lately though.
