It happens on the GAH too. I see some items going for $100M when similarly spec'd items are unsold at 10M.

That and most people don't have enough to afford it and the people who do already have something better or the item would be such a marginal upgrade that it's not worth their time.

With the recently added crafting patterns, people are holding even less gold and the relative value of a lot of gear has dropped due to crafted equipment being better than a lot of stuff you can find on the AH.

There just isn't really a "middle class" in D3. There are those that are very poor and those that are very rich. The majority being the very poor. The casual gamer has like under 50 mil and the hardcore has about that. The AH botters have billions though. Sadly, they are the people that have the 300K+ dps that can farm efficiently enough to find the top end items and set the prices. The problem is there are no effective gold sinks. There are no cosmetic, super expensive items rich people could show off with so they horde their money.

I guess some of us got lucky and found a great drop or noticed gems were going up a lot and spent quite a bit on radiant gems when they hit 8mil each.

Definitely don't expect to find an item that'll be worth millions, because I've been playing for 450 hours on my monk, since release, and if you don't have the MF to reach the top tier items, you're just playing catchup. I've been playing catchup the entire time and rarely find an item worth more than 1m.

Don't play for the lottery. Play for the enjoyment of playing. If you're looking to upgrade a few DPS here and there, then screw the AH. It'll just make you depressed. FFS I know I am everytime I try to tweak a few DPS higher. But I still enjoy playing. So I try to keep it simple like that and not try to get caught up in the DPS race and competition. My monk can sufficiently kill on MP5/6 solo anyways, and that's pretty cool to me.

Oh I know. I am at the point where I can spend 200mil for a minor upgrade or save for that 2 billion gold item.

Yup, it's been that way for a long time for me. I figure, I'll slowly get PL100 and will hopefully find more rewards for having the higher MF and gear out more characters that way. That's long term though. For now, I just enjoy slaughtering heaps of trash and elites with my skillset on the monk and trying different skills out every now and then. ^^

I don't think MF really makes as big a difference as people want to believe. People were finding these BiS legendaries before paragon levels came out. The only reason people with higher paragon level find more items is usually because they can kill a lot faster and more efficiently.

lol lifetime gold pick up for me is 32 million so far, and i haven't gotten a lottery drop. i'd say theres probably 95% poor people and 5% billionaires.

so does magic find increase your odds of just finding legendary/set items?
OR is it the higher your MF = the better the legendary you get?

like i haven't gotten any nice legendary drops, do you need max MF to get say a witching hour to drop or an IK chest with 350+ total stats? (175str/175vit etc)
i keep getting that level 58 witch looking hat, and frostburn gauntlets >_<

Nah, it is all RNG. People were getting witching hours and IK chests without MF. MF just makes the chance of an item to be a legendary increase. However, what the base chance for legendary to drop is currently unknown and believed to be monster dependent. Like the white mob spiders in Act 3 theoretically have a smaller chance to drop a legendary than an elite pack. However, you kill 100x more of those mobs though. I think the item drops with an item level of whatever is available and then the quality roll is taken into effect. Like if a level 62 mace drops, it has a chance to become a EF. The rolls, however, I think are completely random.

Sweet. Picked up a Vile Ward (AH) with gold pickup radius. I'm now at +19 yards and it's just so more convenient. It also helps with survival since you can grab health globes too.

Playing less and less though...

At this point, the chance of a lottery drop for the poor is extremely small as most legs don't sell for anything, nor do ammy's, trifecta gloves, vile wards, and even lacuni's must roll the best of best rolls.

So, over the weekend I leveled a monk to 60, did it relatively quickly on mp10 through out + ruby + cain's set. I found some legs on the way through, but I'm plevel 7 with him, and have yet to have a leg drop in inferno for him.

I can only imagine how frustrating it can be for a new person that hit 60, goes trough 7 plevels, and not 1 drop. I spent about 5M to gear him up with physical res inna's set, and had decent crafted bracers, gloves, shoulders, and ammy for him.

I hit my uber drop a couple weeks back. Got a mempo with crit that sold for 344M. It's ridiculus but I'll take it. Was able to completely upgrade my barb from 55K to 125K Dps and still got 44M left.

300m is probably a steal. it has str/int, +dmg, max crit, near max attack speed, and a decent % of crit dmg.

put it up for 2 billion and see if you have any bites, i don't know what it's worth exactly but 300m is probably low.

I found one way back when with AS, CC, and CD, but no stats.

I tried selling it for 200 million with no bites, then took it off. I think the market price (like 3 patches ago when Inferno was still stupidly hard) was only 100 million-ish then.

With the recent inflation and the fact that yours has a perfect 10% CC, physical resistance, some primary stats, and +min damg... I'd say at least 300 million. Put it up for a stupid number like 1 billion and work your way down 50 million at a time. It's guaranteed to sell for probably more than you'll ever make, so take your time.

I decided to keep mine because it was such an impossible find that I'd never be able to get back.

Those are account bound and really materials intensive. In the long run, they're probably way cheaper than buying one on the AH though.

I think my 5th crafted ammy is the one I'm using now:

Man, you got lucky if that was your fifth crafted ammy....after about 20 tries I have up because I couldn't get any decent mods. I think I only saw one with cc and cd, and they were really low. I kept getting rolls with 3 main stats like int, Dex, and str on the same roll. I spent a couple mil for nothing. And to upgrade my crappy ammy the ah would have only costed me about 500k.

I found that setting CPU affinity to a single core solved all my perceived lag issues...

So I've tried this and I can honestly say it doesn't help at all. Also, with only a single core active, during big battles I get down to the single digits in FPS. That's a big no-go for me, lol.

I'm still curious how setting your CPU affinity would affect server<>client lag-outs though...

I've used over 100 brims to craft a dex, int, str ammy. I've gotten really good rolls on each. Still, I keep crafting. Never satisfied. Probably the same reason I keep doing ubers. Still searching for that quadfecta.
