When I first started looking into D3 I thought Monk was the most fitting class for me. But now after maxing out all 5 classes in beta I am not so sure I like him anymore. I thought he was going to be alot better at dealing damage but he seems to be the weakest out of all the classes. Personally I found the barbarian to be the strongest, although demon hunter very close.

I am sure it depends alot on the gear I found for my characters too but I definitely made sure to have a pair of +2-4 dmg/+5% attacks speed rings for all my characters.

I guess the monk is too much of a support char for me. I want a damage dealer that can hold his own in melee. So I guess barb is the class for me.

Demon Hunter seems to require too much effort kiting mobs (well not so much with the weak mobs in beta but I can see it being a problem further down the road). I prefer a more laid back not thinking too much about the game button mashing approach

Monk does seem weak to me as of now. The Barb slaughters everything. I have not had to kite anything with the DH except when I got surrounded by 30+ mobs in a 4 player game. I had to get out and turn around to kill everything.

You should look at this thread and look at the high level skills for each class.

My first character will be a Barb and my second a DH. The WD is extremely weak to me. When facing the SK (appears to be about level 9) with my level 13 WD, my minions are one shot. The WD will require a lot of kiting itself.

One thing to keep in mind is that some classes may change quite a bit based on certain abilities or runes that you "equip" that weren't available to you in the beta. I had to kite a few tougher mobs (especially in the elite packs) as a Demon Hunter, but I'm betting there are some talent or ability options that I could use to help with that.

I tend to enjoy melee characters above ranged, and I'll probably be playing the Monk.

I am not a fan of the Monk's attack animations. They don't seem as fluid as the other classes so far.

One thing I am missing is the way you get on battle.net for Diablo 2 and sit in some channels. I have not read much about it and was wondering if there is any plan to use this format again.

What do you mean? There are channels in SC2... strategy, race specific etc. I'm sure it will be the same with D3 for trading, hc/sc etc.

I thought the beta was a lot of fun, I wasn't planning on getting this game due to GW2 coming out soon but the beta made me change my mind. I played through all 5 classes and I like DH the most, the rapid fire skill is pretty ridiculous and stealthing around is a lot of fun.

not even part of the game at launch...

Everything they(Bashiok and jay whatshisface) are saying about the game is beyond annoying. All bullshit reasons why they aren't including certain features or why they are using certain systems.

This is going to be jut like WoW, cater to the casuals. I completely understand as the casual makes up a large chunk of their income base.

I will be maxing out a DH, Barb and Wizard as my first three, most likely in that order. The DH skill that powers them up looks awesome though. Fills with shadow power to unleash on enemies.

Yeah that would be weird if they got rid of channels they've been part of bnet since the beginning.

I was trying out some of the filters for the graphics and wow it looks so much better with them on, I like the diablo 1 filter the best.

Well, I think it's actually far beyond what the original person was asking about (duels) as the new system is more like arena combat.

To my knowledge, there is no world PVP in Diablo III. That may be what you're referring to.

I'm going to play rock paper scissors with myself until I whittle down my classes.

I want to like the Witch Doctor but reading his stuff, he just sounds like a poor mans Necromancer. Of course, there is no Paladin so my favourite character no longer exists...

Might have to be the Demon Hunter.

I'm really glad I'm not hardcore on the Diablo series like some of you. I don't plan on breaking down the changes and what they'll mean. I'm just going play the game and have some fun. CANNOT WAIT for May 15th.

"Hardcore?". More like judging this game with the thickest rose-tinted glasses ever. In fact people were whining back then why you couldn't use every skill in D2 for a single class compared to D1.

Ugh...I'm trying to download the main client since I pre-ordered and it doesn't allow you to quit and pick up your download where you left off, so I have to download all 8 or so GB in one shot. Not a problem for me, but my best friend with 128k...I can hear him complaining already lol.

Maybe I'm just getting older but I don't give a crap about any type of PvP in Diablo III. Diablo is strickly a co-op type game for me and all about building a solid team to play with. I got so tired of the constant changes in WoW that was cause from people complaining about balancing due to PvP. It makes things way to complicated and I feel sorry for the developers that are always working to make everyone happy because it never works.

I was able to resume the beta client download more than once. It uses P2P for the transfer, or you can disable the P2P and download direct from a server (which was faster for me).

^^ It's good to see that someone gets it.

For PvP to be included, PvE changes have to be made, and that will make the people that only PVE to complain endlessly like they do in WoW.

If a game goes pure PVE, then the balance can be strictly set around PVE without having to worry that so-and-so ability is way too powerful for PvP.

Hey that was a major downer! I loved having a Warrior that could use Fireball. It was the ultimate in dual purpose classes. Also being able to teleport as a warrior was awesome!

PVP will be included. People will adjust to whatever balance there is for PVP. You can plan the game entirely around PVM without having to worry about the PVP players, just let them do their own thing. But limiting the PVP options is lame. In D2 there were certain builds that were best for PVM and others were best for PVP. Hell, in D3 you don't even have to choose, you can swap back and forth with ease! So why not give PVP players the options they want?

Anyone know if we could use the same beta client install for retail? I would assume so.... but just want to be certain

I'm pretty sure you can't. I remember seeing a FAQ on the blizzard page about the beta telling people to be sure they were using the beta client and not the full game version.

Things that have changed from Diablo 2 to 3 due to some people just not getting it or time consuming to obtain items.

I wonder if they will nerf inferno for the casuals at some point?
