So, can someone help a newb out here? I picked up the game after having played it on console. I beat it on normal difficulty. I started on the next difficulty, but I didn't reset. Should I reset between difficulties? Or should I even jump up a few of the difficulties?

Found my first level 60 legendary weapon which was kind of exciting even if its just an uskang. Definitely helped my damage output. I have yet to actually play with other people though, maybe I'll check out the AT group.

Almost have my wizard to 60, and I just finished act 2. Cain's set + HF ring + Leoric's signet + ruby in the helm on master.
Most of those people, like myself, stopped playing the game then.When D3 came out: WTF...an AH!?!!? AH is the death of the franchise! WTF did Blizz think?
The people whining about the AH disappearing are the people that stuck around and didn't mind the AH. Now that it's gone, and you can actually find usable loot while playing the game, the game is fun again, IMO.D3 after patch 2.0: Bring back the AH!! D3 sucks withtou an AH!! AH was a necessary tool to make money and find rare loot!!!! I can't have the drops I want and have to actually play the game to get loot, that sucks!

I don't know if it does quite the damage of the Magic Missle/Frozen Orb build I was using, but I don't care. It's so much damn fun. Definitely not a build if you want zone out and tap buttons and kill stuff, but it's great if you want to feel engaged and have fun. I'm zipping all over the damn place, decoys are popping out throwing out bubbles, I'm popping bubbles and meanwhile zapping the crap out of stuff with friggin lazers, and my armor is zapping stuff with lightning. So fun.
If someone answered this, I missed it. Anyways, monster levels stay the same--always the same level as you--across all difficulties. This is what changes when you increase difficulty:
+monster hp
+monster dmg dealt
+exp bonus
+gold bonus
specifics from battle.net
So basically, you play the difficulty you feel most comfortable at, or provides the amount of challenge you want for the rewards available. From what we've been told, the same items, same stats, etc. drop in Normal as they do in Torment 6 (at least until the expansion), so you're not hurting your chances at good stuff by playing lower difficulties. The most efficient method to farm is to kill as much as possible as quick as possible...essentially playing the highest difficulty in which you can easily plow through things.
There are a few other bonuses for Expert+ difficulties (like legendary drop rate for Torment) that show up in the descriptions on the in-game difficulty window, but bounties/imperial gems/any content for 61-70 only applies to the upcoming expansion.
