Curious, but I'm thinking that wouldn't work. I'm guessing that stats are rolled when the item drops, not when you ID it. That's how it was in v1. Otherwise you would've had people abusing the system and find a ton of items with low MF, then load a bunch of MF gear and ID to boost the stats. Granted, MF is useless now, so maybe?

So I just played for the first time after the patch, and I absolutely *hate* it. All the game is now is getting swarmed by mobs, and I am playing on only hard difficulty. My demon hunter that was kicking butt previously on the second difficulty level now seems terribly underpowered. I remember hating Oblivion because it leveled the monsters to that of the character, but this seems even worse.

I was seriously thinking of getting the expansion pack, but have pretty much decided against it, because I cant imagine going through an entire game like this.

Okay, this complaint is pretty silly. You *hate* the fact that there's a lot of monsters? Turn down the difficulty until you get better gear; that's all there is to it.

I'm going to side with everyone else here and say that's your problem. If you like running through a lot of landscape with small amounts of enemies to kill, you're missing the point of a hack-n-slash in the first place. This is not your genre, because that's the entire point: kill a lot of baddies.

Got my wizard up to 66. Really fun expansion so far. The difficulty really seemed to ramp up quick once you hit that cemetery. I got to 65 on T1 but ended up stepping down a level because I started dying like crazy. 2 legendary drops. A nice sword and a decent shield.

I ordered 2 copies from Amazon - 1 CE and 1 Regular (me and wife). The CE will show up today but the regular on Thusrday, wth??

If I buy it from a local store can I return the Amazon version to the local store? They should be the same thing right?

I reset quests on my level 60 monk, did not get to play this weekend, still in act 1. (D'oh!)

So I started a crusader this morning, is fun so far.

Not looking forward to Act 2, the desert is annoying...

Newegg canceled my pre-order due to not having enough in stock. First time I have had an issue with them. Guess I will just buy it through Blizzard today and miss out on the pre-order stuff.

LOL, I just played that quest last night on the barbarian, that could have been cut from the game and not missed in the slightest.

The game works best when it is dark and gothic and all that, you know, atmosphere, not outdoors terrain. (IMHO)

You get the pre-order stuff as long as you activate a key by 3/31.

I really like what I've seen of A5 so far. Westmarch Commons alone seemed very big (although it is mostly long narrow lanes/alleys) and there have been a ton of sidequests and mini-dungeons/houses to explore thus far. The new enemy designs are all pretty cool looking as well - except for the fat zombie Zileans lol.

I was able to start out on T3 for a level or two then had to knock it down to T2 after a few more but have been holding out ok on Torment. A little bit of new gear and some new gems and putting the Mystic to work has kept me up to date. Also FYI using the mystic on gear that's level <=60 will require your old crafting mats, so don't dump them.

Quite pleased so far.

And Urzael is a bastard. On torment 1 at level 67 he had just under 400M HP and his fire breath and 'jetpack stomp thingy' would nearly one-shot me lol. Reminded me of old Rakanoth.

I don't agree with cap, because all she did was go off when she read how you "hate" the game, but I do think you're being a little melodramatic. You're entitled to your opinion, but you seem a little confused about how the difficulties have changed, and the loot. They've been completely rebalanced, and you're insisting you shouldn't have to make any adjustments with a sub-60 character you used to play. There is no equivalent to the old "normal, NM, hell" difficulties...that concept no longer exists. It's now just monsters scaled to your level + (renamed, rebalanced) monster power to provide more challenge and rewards. If you dropped down to normal difficulty for a while, you'd be back up to hard/expert/master in no time.

I started a HC demon hunter after the patch to get a feel for how things are for fresh characters. For the first 30 levels or so, normal was pretty easy and I found pretty good drops, but hard+ provided a decent challenge due to the increased mob HP/DMG. Somewhere in the 40s, my DPS shot up so that expert/master seemed like a better challenge, except I came dangerously close to dying a couple times against elites, so I turned it back down (being on hardcore). Regardless, the drops I found on normal after small number of hours were perfectly viable for letting me progress to harder difficulties without any issue.

For the record, I hate oblivion and it's scaled mobs as well. I don't feel that way about this D3 patch though because gear increases your strength waaaaaaay above a default level X character. Normal mobs eventually feel like puny ants, but not until you've collected some good gear...go figure.

Thanks for the useful reply. Perhaps "hate" the game was an overstatement, but after playing through the story many times already, I just don't know if I have the energy to go back a level just to grind more loot to get back to where I was before the patch. I had sort of burned out on the game, but was enjoying playing a new character and mindlessly plowing through the game like a bad ass.

Unless I go back for achievements I'll probably never play act 2 again. Don't dislike it for being outdoors, just it goes on and on, seems so far between checkpoints and you lose any real sense of progress.

You keep not understanding that the difficulty levels do NOT directly translate.

I just finished Act V (the benefits of being on GMT!), and got to L69 in the process. I started off on Torment II, but kept stepping it back all the way down to expert so I wouldn't keep dying. The difficulty really ramps up with the levels.

Also, I think I found a bug. I died on Urziel while stunned. When I revived in town, I was perm-stunned

Hit 70 last night before Act V finished and killed Malth. Got a double legendary drop! Sadly, I have to farm some mats to put a socket on the dagger I got (it was surprisingly not awful!). Did a bounty or two an am going to probably jump into Crusader today, rather than level my other characters. Sadly, work is going to be particularly awful today. Not much sleep!

played last night, Act V right before the first boss fight I believe in Westmarch commons.

got up to lvl 65, started at T1 and dropped it to master. DPS went from 131K to 175K with 2 drops and gems! Got rid of the Skorn finally...

Still got to try the mystic and put a socket on my 2nd 1 hander!

I had just barely made it into Westmarch commons before I had to call it a night.

After clearing the act, I'm debating whether I should run a Crusader or keep exploring end-game with my barb. Or even get my 24 Monk up to snuff.

Is the gear drops that much better at higher levels? I need to replace my weapon with something that has LoH because I have been using Life steal which no longer works.

I'm level 66, can't remember where I left off though. Man it seems like difficulty ramps up with the quickness when you get to about 64ish? Not sure, but it was when I hit that cemetery. I was on Torment 1, but once I hit that cemetery I started dying constantly so I dropped back to Master. I got a nice sword that increased my DPS a lot, but haven't found anything to increase survivability so it was getting tough. Especially with some boss with multiple stun abilities and minions chain-stuns the crap out of you.

I'll probably finish Act V tonight and then roll a Crusader.
