You will get a legendary drop on any difficulty the first time you defeat Malthael. I would recommend being 70 when you do it, otherwise, the legendary isn't going to be something you hold on to for a good while. Unless you're skipping content, you should hit 70 by the time you go through Act 5 anyway. It is fairly long and filled with mobs.

I'm already at level 20 on my Crusader and I'm finally at the last dungeon in Act I! I didn't think much of it until I swapped over to my Wizard and saw that he's only level 17 in Act II. My Crusader gets those new Pools of Reflection (25% bonus experience for a certain amount of exp) and gets an experience bonus for playing on Hard difficulty, which probably helps. I get the feeling that I'll definitely be above the curve.

Question concerning Adventure Mode: Do you have to start this mode with a fresh level 1 toon?

What build u running on wiz? I'm not using black hole

Distintigrate - intensify as my main
Teleport - fracture on right mouse button

1 - familiar - arcanot (arcane regen)
2 - magic weapon - conduit (arcane regen/reduction rune)
3 - storm armour - power of the storm (with the arcane cost reduction rune)
4 - black hole - spell steal

audacity, astral presence, unstable anomaly, unwavering will

It's basically a perma-disintigrate build. I can keep firing continuously for about 25 seconds before running out, and that includes launching a few black holes.

My main weapon has a 1162% dmg to everything in 30 yards after killing 10 enemies, which is good for clearing screens (10-15M crits).

Sometimes I'll switch out black hole for time warp (usually for bosses) and the teleport illusions cast it quite reliably.

Also, gloves of worship = win.

I hit 65 after killing Azmodan on my crusader and just had a guild mate give me the Diablo waypoint and quest so I could go directly into Act 5.

No, adventure mode is just an alternate mode than Campaign. You get quests to complete objectives. You can warp to every act though and way point. You have to complete Act 5 in order to unlock it. I suppose you could level up a toon in it, but what would be the point?


Does anyone want to power level me today? I am thinking about rerolling my DH to a female DH. I think they have a better look in armor (yes, vanity... don't ask how much I've spent on transmoging). I have gems and a Cain's Set, so it shouldn't take long on T6. I will return the favor, if you ever need.

I get lag spikes when I open up achievements and sometimes when I open my pack. It is fairly long freezes too (over a second long). At least, I am not desyncing and rubberbanding like in PoE though.

At one time I was trying to run away from a champion and pack of other mobs, every couple seconds I got warp to some spot, all the while I could see the entire room doing attack animations still at my original location, and then with my body at the opposite end of the room I die and get ported back to the start spot as a headstone.

I've been experiencing this too. It's usually when I face giant mobs and there's a lot of particle details from the fight. I also get it on occasion when I open up the friends/guild/achievement tabs.

Yes, the Crusader will appear as a playable character regardless of how far you've played in the game previously. The only thing restricted until you complete the game with at least one character is Adventure Mode.

Yeah I get it a lot too.

There was one point where I was doing that quest in Act V where you have to get that last siege weapon piece in that eternal battle in the time bubble. I killed the one side, but then got stuck in the middle as I went to go get the other guy. He kept launching soldiers at me. I couldn't move, but I could fire. I kept killing guys over and over for about 5 minutes.

I FINALLY managed to make it out of there by launching all of my spells to knock them all back and gave myself enough time to TP back to town, at which point I could move again.

I've also been having the game crash every few hours, usually at the end of quests when I TP back to town and such.

I had that happen to me last night as well. I started fighting a named mob (a jailer no less! ), and all of a sudden, I kept rubber banding back really badly. I don't know what happened, but I eventually just broke loose. I almost died though because I wasn't able to attack the enemies.

Adventure mode is only available after one of your characters have beaten all five acts on any difficulty setting.

You can switch back and forth from campaign to adventure mode at any time.

Bah I just played now and killed the skeleton king in a group. I was lagging SO badly. I was getting one frame every 10 seconds or so. I saw my group members got the achievement when the SK was still at 50% life on my screen. They all tp'd back to town and started act 2 when he was at 1/4 health for me. I was honestly about 30-40 seconds behind them!

Woot, got my game in today (1 day earlier than expected). Fired it up and started playing about 45 min just now. Already got a Chantodo's Will for my wizard. Loving it so far.

Running the game at T1 which seems ok so far but I know I'll have to tone it down a few levels once I get to Mal.

Back to work for now...gotta issue some audit reports lol

It really depends on what your build is. What are you playing? (remember you can always respec for free with paragon points.)

Lol this reminded me so much of Diablo II. My friend tried playing on his dial-up connection as broadband wasn't quite as widespread yet. He could never get past Duriel in Act II. He would click to enter his cave and the load screen would take FOREVER. His character would finish entering the tomb on the server side but his connection was so slow, it would take forever to load on the client side. He'd start hearing Duriel charging him and his toon making noises, but couldn't do anything about it as on his client end he hadn't entered Duriel's chamber yet. It would always finish loading right after Duriel had killed him. Poor guy lol.

what's the best paragon stats to boost first?

Depends.

If you have a lot of points and are starting a new character, then put a little into vitality and most into movement speed under "core".

For offense, it's all attack speed.

For defence, all resist.

For utility, area damage.

You should be able to use a hellfire ring for bonus experience and some primary stat, and then throw gems into sockets in your gear to top that up.


If you're already L60 and are starting to get paragon points, I'd do movement speed (you can put movement speed into paragon instead of on gear, freeing up a gear slot for other stuff), then ensure that your CC/CD ratio is about 1:10, and get your attack speed right (usually you avoid attack speed if you use channeled attacks). Area damage is a good one to use for most applications, but is useless (I think) for single targets (bosses). I think all resist is still the best defensive stat to use.

Finished my run with a new crusader last night. She's the first to do anything in Act 5, got to level 44 by the time I killed Malthael (I'm a poor fellow that likes the story so I ran Normal diff).
Some random stuff...Act 5 is really long but well done. Imperius is annoying as always. The crusader's comments, overall and in the quest text (read it!) are fun and amusing. Malthael dropped a nice 1-h flail (gyrfalcon's foote) that upped my dps by 50%, heh.

BTW, for anyone not caring much for their followers, they have their "ending quests" in Act 5. While the rest of the acts just give you conversations, make sure to talk to them during A5 so you can do the extra quests.

This happened to me last night on my DH. It seemed that the game thought my shift key was still being held down. I was able to get unstuck by pressing the shift key a few times.
