Do you find that you get more of a certain type of legendary item when it drops? I seem to mostly get 2 handed weapons...its really pissing me off.

Ditto, I find lots of scrap two-handers. At first I saved them, but now I just scavenge for the raw materials.

After taking time off I came back and started playing monk. Holy crap monk exploding palm is powerful. My monk paper dps is 293k and is weak as hell solo. Then she suddenly turns into a nuclear weapon in multiplayer rifts. I just max out toughness, charge into a crowd and start marking mobs. A few seconds later they all go boom. I don't even have the right gear yet.

Yeah.. don't expect to do dmg as a monk. It's a straight support class unless you realllllly get dem top gears.

Yep, that's what's sort-of pissing off monks at the moment: being stuck as support with very little option for doing damage.

You're basically either an EP-ho, or ping pong freak. Personally, I hate constantly jumping around the screen just to do damage. It's completely wrong...for a melee class. (Raiment 6 set bonus.)

2.1 has a good bit of updates to help with the state of the monk, but who knows when it'll land at this point; and there's more they need to do to bring the monk back to how it "should be".

I dont play solo so I dont mind. You may be support, but you get all the kills after the first one. Plus monk is ultra tough and can charge across the screen for no resources.

Sigh, well I have another t4+ toon, this time a fire wizard. Got two well geared wizards and really don't know what I can possibly pick up to make them T6 beasts. Found 2 SoJ's today too.

I got 7,030 achievement points now. I have been working on HC for two weeks. I found a good Odyn Son and it helped me get the HC boss achievements.

My HC crusader is nearly able to comfortably stay in T2. That's exciting for me. I was able to finish a T2 rift and largely do it without issue, but there were some ridiculously tense moments.

I took a toughness hit (mostly in vitality, 300K HP[!] and 6M toughness currently) and lost two sockets (I use Finery, strength took a big hit) in getting aughild's built; the set bonuses don't quite cover the gap, let alone buff me out like they should.

I'm thinking I'll drop down to expert, switch to the darklight, and try to rush rifts until I get enough souls/mats to:
a. get my third socket in my chest again
b. build at least two pieces of Asheara's for the extra set bonuses for toughness
c. seriously consider if I care enough to build a third piece to get the follower summoning ability of Asheara's. I am super glad to have a RoRG.
d. stick a socket in my helm again

2.1 making jewelry sockets desirable will easily get my crusader pushing 8500 strength once I find socketed jewelry worth using.

Or use my HC WD to farm on expert. It'll depend on how well the darklight can clear mobs on a lower difficulty. It didn't roll fantastic. But my WD is getting close to torment ready. If I weren't crafting everything for the crusader, it might already be there. Just got Spite plans, it looks to be an improvement over my rare mojo.

I like that I can cancel out of an enchant if I don't like the choices. I still pay the material and gold cost, but I don't have to end up with anything worse.

I have been running T2 bounties and rifts on my HC WW Barb. I tried T3 and it did not go as smooth as I had hoped.

Why HC Expert and not Master? I'm leveling a crusader on Expert right now (lvl 48 in Act V) as Master was a bit too much - bosses/packs took forever mainly. Do people usually go Expert -> T1?

I picked expert just to make clear time super fast. I wouldn't be doing it for XP or gold, just to get souls and other mats.

I probably shouldn't be trying so hard to rush into T2+ as my HC toons are only at ~51 paragon. But I feel like I should have at least one character by now that can do it. The crusader is my closest right now, and I just need that toughness back to sit in there comfortably. The two and three piece bonuses from Asheara's should give me what I want.

If it was softcore, it would have been in T2 a while ago.

While I was leveling, I stepped up to each difficulty individually, starting on Normal. That's just me and how I move my HC upwards. Softcore starts on expert and jumps to T1 when they're ready. Again, that's my practice, and I don't know/care if it's the most efficient.

I've never run an HC character, what are the differences, other than (obviously) death is permanent? I assume the Paragon levels start out at zero for your first HC play?

Stash is also separate between HC and non-HC chars. Also HC-specific achievements, if you're into that.

I tried a rift in expert the other day (non-HC) for the most part I did ok, was a bit slow, but some areas, like with the named monsters, it took quite awhile. I even died twice, but that was because I got stuck in the mob and couldn't get out. I think I'm Paragon 70 now.

I don't know how i get gear to be able to do the higher difficulties. Everything I get is useless. I think i got 2 legendaries from that rift and i cleared all the levels.

Hardcore is kept completely separate. Plans, paragon levels, followers, artisans, etc. And the only other mechanical thing I can think of is that the difficulty level can only be changed outside of a game.

Builds end up tweaked a bit to aid survivability, toughness is emphasized a bit more. And then there's the thrill of a tough fight. It's just an annoyance in softcore if the fight is going long and even if you die once or more. In hardcore, you had better be prepared.

I feel it's a bit more purposeful, going up to a new difficulty level is a bigger decision. Permadeath alone is really all you need to really motivate different playstyles and get you more invested and thoughtful about your character. I haven't lost one yet, but I've been playing it relatively safe. My crusader moved up difficulties faster than my WD is, but my WD is more squishy.

Huh. Interesting. While leveling up, how do you decide when to go up in difficulty level? Do you typically start on normal or expert or what? Do you drop back down for known tough boss fights?

I play HC exclusively now and I try not to drop down difficulties (definitely not to beat a certain boss - i'll gear grind rather than do that). Expert is OK for now TBH, i'm not quite ready for Master. I'll move up after I hit 70 and when I slaughter packs in seconds and generally feel like a beast

Even on Expert there have been a few close calls against bad packs...eg today i ran into a waller, arcane, frozen (just turned 50 so i hit 3 affix) that made me glad I wasn't on Master, despite the fact I just found a +43% damage weapon

With the latest changes on the PTR, my desire to continue playing is about completely gone.

These devs still refuse to address Barbs correctly, as well as Monks and Wizards.

Greater rifts are still awful in their current state.

There are other things as well. The latest patch notes for the PTR are up at Blizzard's site.

Bill, I will still help you with your HC boss achievements. It should only take about an hour to get them all.
