On the wizard issue:

From my perspective as a wizard, my ideal group composition (including myself) is:

1 Crusader, 1 Monk, 1 Demon Hunter or Witch Doctor, and me.

The crusaders I group with seem to do incredible damage, even if it's on a cool down by the time we move from one elite pack to another their cooldowns are back up. A good monk pulls mobs into the crusader's stomp, and into a neat pile that my black hole maintains, and my meteors hit to great effect. The Demon Hunter or Witch Doctor do insane dps on single targets like rift bosses - witch doctor pet build, or I'm not sure what DHs use but it's really insane.

On my damage - I think it fits with my survivability, but I'm not using the Firebird 6 piece build. My speciality is clearing out trash.


But in a group where it's me, a lowly geared wiz (this is common), a squishy monk, and perhaps a barbarian (this is my most common pub group), we do terribly. I doubt many barbs are keen to have wizards around, so there's probably some class discrimination here, but in the group I describe above we fly so fast through content that collecting the loot is what slows us down - I group with some crusaders that are just non stop killing machines and don't even stop to loot. It makes rifts fly.

Now if only I could find such a group for grifting...

Haha, clearing out trash. How lucky Wizards are!

I don't die that frequently, especially in a group, but I think we should definitely have slightly more direct damage vs DoT and run around. Maybe they just want you to play hunter for that type of damage.

I finally got my FB tick to stay upper 30m, topping at about 45m / tick. I was in the mid 20's to low 30's before. So it helps some that I have actually found some more fire gear... maybe I just need to finish out my last few slots I know I'm slacking and see what is what. If I can get my ticks to 60m I'll be in pretty good shape.

Played a bit more this weekend, it's been enough months for it to be fun again for a bit.

Got another RoRG. For my monk. But it was STR. First one was INT. The hunt continues.

And after I log off last night my stupid DH friend finds a WKL like a half hour later. Not a very good one, but would have been a solid upgrade from my Odyn Son lol. Can we bring back the AH yet?

After seeing some more of the legendary gems they're definitely a bit intriguing. Though getting a socket in your jewelry is a little bit of an ugly tradeoff. Is there a max rank on the gems or GRifts (in theory?)?

The max rank is potentially 110 I think (level 100 grift cap?), you can keep adding levels up to 10 levels above the GRIFT you complete, but only have a 10% chance to do so. Right now unless you are a DH you won't be getting into GR40+ for the most part so most gems are probably going to cap around 45ish.

Grifts go to lvl 100 I think and gems current theoretical cap is around 50, based on how far people are currently able to get. I don't believe there is a hard cap on legendary gems.

You can technically level gems that you can't reach the level for, you just have a much lower chance at doing so.

Doesn't it cap at 60% though? Like, the lowest chance you get is 60%? And you get that 3 times. So, it just takes longer to level gems.

Lowest I've seen is 1%. It drops to 30% when the level of the rift is 1 level below the gem level, and goes down from there.

That doesn't make any sense. I thought the cap on gems was 50 (it was 100 while on the PTR; same for grifts). Take Gogok for example. What good would it do to have more than 100% chance to gain the buff on hit?

As I mentioned before if the GRIFT you are doing is 10 levels above your GEM rank you have 100% chance to upgrade. The GRIFT cap is 100 and if your GEM is 10 or more levels ahead of your GRIFT you have a flat 1%, I don't believe you can ever have a 0% chance to level a GEM. I haven't tested this, but I believe it goes to 1% so theoretticaly 110 is the highest you can obtain.

Started season 1 with monk...anyone seasonal here? I want to join group play.

I got a torment 1 barb, hopefully get him t3 comfy by this weekend. I've been getting jack squat on my DH non-season which is why I've mixed it up.

Got two more SOJs yesterday though. I'm a SOJ machine.

The new item you can use to add a socket to a weapon is just a random drop, correct? There's no 'farm' method I presume?

Also my formerly really mediocre amulet is actually not so bad now lol. It was lightning damage/dex/CC and a socket but now I dropped a Bane of the Powerful into it and it's pretty solid. Definitely happy with the performance of it considering it only cost me 280 dex essentially.

Do the "rank 25" effects of the gems also scale up once you unlock them? Or are their values static (and do the 'primary' effects ever stop scaling [that we can tell])?

the socket item is just a rare drop. I only have one.

and I didn't look at all the gems but I imagine the rank 25 effects don't scale. At least bane of the powerful is a static increase no matter what level it is, more levels just increase the duration of effect 1.

Minor change but making keys a 'group' drop instead of an individual one is a great idea - I'd really like getting a nice Hellfire Amulet (aside: can you re-roll the passive if by some stroke of luck everything else about it is good?).

FYI you can split farm them this way and party members can pick up the keys even if they are not on the map/in range at the time of the drop.

Curious to see how Kadala feels now after the change. I spent 500 bloodshards and went 1/6.

rings are now 50 shards a peice and for 300 shards, got 3 blues and 3 yellows.... ughhh
