Yeah, I've always had my eye set on Inna's, but Sunwuko now looks like it might be more interesting... at least from a DPS number perspective (Inna's 4-piece to give you all mantra passive effects always seemed more survival oriented to me). I have some Sunwuko right now, but I assume that these changes (like a lot of others) will not be retroactive.

Speaking of that, I do wish that Blizzard would give us the option to trade in the old version for the new version. I assume that we don't automatically get one because they just create a whole new item. The choice is nice because some may not want to change because of a reforge, but others may still think it's a better option. Although, not allowing trade-ups also forces people to play the game more to get the new version.

Set changes are retroactive. Legendary item changes are not.

Flying dragon will be/still is BiS for monks.

Anyone have a max level season char I can ride with? Or what would be the quickest way to level one?

I just finished my Raekor's set minus the Vile Ward, and ho-lee cow, the dps is insane. My build is far from perfect, but going from an Immortal King's Set Whirlwind (Fire) build with a Maximus+Tasker to a cold based Raekor's is like night and day. I thought my damage output with the previous build was pretty high (especially single target where myself and each of my pets are wailing away for 60 million each), but the Raekor's just puts it to shame. Single target dps is lacking, but as long as there's 3 mobs, everything dies very, very quickly. Packs just explode.

I got a Furnace and finally got my hands on a second Ramaladni's Gift. The roll on the Furnace isn't perfect (Resource cost reduction?), but it works. The cold damage wasn't intended, but it's just how the rolls played out, and overall it works pretty well.

I'd like to one day move to Fire instead of Cold for better synergy along with other changes, but for the meantime, the newfound potential in kerplowing anything in my path is much welcome.

Ancient items are essentially legendaries with an additional stat boost. You can get them in lieu of what would have normally been a legendary drop, craft, or purchase (i.e. gambling).

I assume SWK is a rather odd abbreviation of Sunwuko, or the Monkey King's Garb set. The current set bonuses are nothing short of garbage. They're based upon using staves, which (in my experience) aren't any good. The bonuses are now...

The biggest thing is probably that note about the elemental damage. My monk has been a fire monk for the longest time, and by allowing me to turn it into elemental damage actually makes it usable.

Correct, SWK is for Sunwuko or Monkey King's Garb. The current bonus isn't garbage, it's just limiting.

The changes will actually be a big change in gameplay for monks (both a nerf and a buff), since we no longer will be restricted to using daibos (we're losing the 20% damage bonus from the set while using a daibo), but allowing all builds to be able to utilize the set instead of just daibo wielding holy monks.

Actually i am really glad they are getting rid of the 20% damage bonus with a staff equipped for the Monk using Sunwuko set as the monk being a fist weapon fighter never sat well with me. Besides the speed of using a staff is too slow for my taste. I shopuld stop leveling up my Gogok of Swiftness gem.

I am as well, but 2 handers will still be better for damage output, unfortunately, due to the way that damage is calculated for "weapon damage" on abilities. Off hand weapons aren't calculated into that still, unless that's somewhere in the patch notes not yet released.

Sweet, finally completed Greater Rift 40 with a 4-man group. And on the eve of the 2.1.2 update.

Using a Calamity and the Toxin gem seemed to help.

What I love about this game is you can leave it for awhile(ie you overplay it for a few months) come back and jump right in like you never left. Have completed this cycle a few times already and love games I can do this with. Only a few I have ever been able to do this with.

Holy cow that was crazy last night, playing with 2 other AT clansmen and we were only at level 32 grift but it felt like level 40 or 50. The guardian would spew poison so no one could stay close to him for more than a few seconds before losing all health.

The funny thing was because when you die you cannot revive in town so I had no idea i could create a town portal until last night. I thought i was going to destroy my gear after dying too many times. I have a level 277 monk and only now realized i can go repair my stuff in a grift.

I hope I still like my DH after the patch drops. I kind of liked the lazy playstyle, and I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with having at least one lazy build. I know it'll make a kridershot all the more necessary.

I'll have to try and craft an ancient weapon as my current one has no affixes that I need to worry about. I did gift it, though, out of impatience of waiting for a "worthy" weapon.

I look forward to being able to clear grift 35 consistently just because it means I can have a guaranteed path to rank 25 gems.

If I don't like it, I can at least try and get one more firebird's piece + RoRG or work on my earth+IK barb (need 3 pieces to finish). Or shoot, I can try and start with my monk and go for sunwuko.

That was totally killer wasn't it, we screwed ourselved by being all melee in that one!

Good fun though.

Lousy drops last night for me except I got 3 gifts within about 2 hrs time. ;P

it is so sporadic. The first rift i did with you i had 5 legendary/set items in 20 minutes and then nothing after that.

I think with our insane grift we should have stayed as a pack once we started dying and we could have killed the guardian a lot quicker.

If i play a grift level 25 on T6 is that any more challenging than a grift level 25 on T3? In other words are grifts outside the difficulty levels?

I don't think the Torment level affects the G-Rift level.

This is correct.

And according to some players, grift 25 "feels" about T6-ish. I tend to agree for the most part.

Which was always funny to me seeing people who can clear 26-28 but don't feel comfortable in T6 on reddit.

I just did some grifts solo and 23 & 24 were fine but yes 25 feels significantly harder than 24. But not realizing the T level did not matter i had done them at T3, funny.

Sounds like you could be playing in T4 or T5, then.

Or, if I remember correctly, you're already in T6. In which case I'm guessing you were experimenting with grifts?

Not sure if it's just my luck (probably is), but I've finished my 7th Rift (regular Rift) and I'm definitely finding more Set items than before. Additionally, out of those seven Rifts (all completed until the last level) I've had 4 of them in which a horde of various Goblins spawned all right next to each others, and all of various colors. I also had 3 of those Rifts with a Blood Thief goblin (the one that drops Blood Shards only).

And I've found 4 Ancient Legendaries, and one Ancient Set item (Torment 5). I do wish that Ancient items had a different colored beam when they drop, however. The Ancient Set I found was a pair of Reakor gloves, and the maximum amount of base stats on them appear to be 1,000, that's all sorts of crazy when you think about it (I think it varied from 800 minimum if I'm not mistaken, to 1K max).

With the arrival of Ancient versions of Legend and Set items I'll basically have to re-gear my Barb entirely. I'm not sure if that's actually a good or a bad thing right now (I'm expecting to have to gear up characters in a Diablo game, that's not the problem... but re-gearing up with essentially the same items twice just to have the extra base stats feels pretty cheap).

Anyway, overall that new patch is welcomed, I hadn't played D3 since the past 3 months or so.

Hate the patch. Totally nerfed the DH, as expected. Funny thing is that a lot of people like the new M6, saying it is more engaging. Really? Shooting is fun? So why the f**k weren't you doing it before the patch? I could have told you that.

I did NOT play M6 passively, I had a Krider and used it to spam frost arrows and cluster arrows, and yes, it was a lot of fun. Compared to that, the new patch is a nerf. If all you did before was to drop sentries and hide, then yeah, the new way of play would be more enjoyable. Which really begs the question why you haven't been playing like that all along. If you did, this nerf to the DH may have been avoided. Uggh, really pissed off and disheartened by this patch. It looks like my D3 days are over.

Just logged in. For people who have been farming since the beginning of the season, the Ancient items being dropped in right at the end is kind of a kick in the teeth. I mean what was the point of the entire season finding BIS rolled seasonal item if some guy in in nonladder the week the season ends will find a better item if he finds the ancient version? Bleh.

There's never really been "a point" to Ladders in D2 nor Seasons in D3, in my opinion.

We had 2 of the hordes of treasure goblins twice in the same rift tonight.

Then later I had a horde playing solo.

I think there are slightly more legendaries dropping.

Did get a third pair of hexing pants for one of my other barbarians too!
