Collector's Edition is superb. I only bought it for the Art Book and that is awesome. The box is very impressive.

Witch Doctor is very, very nice. A bit slow to start, tends to switch runes and skills around a bit as I've progressed but I steam roll everything so far... That is.. until I bumped into the end of Act 2 and it looked like most of my attacks weren't coming remotely close to hitting the boss.

Servers down? Meh, it happens. Disappointed but expected.

Meh, people can complain all they want - they're not going anywhere. There was much hand wringing over SC2 as well. Graphics, not a quantum leap, not good enough, etc etc - all forgotten now.

I got my fancy strategy guide from Best Buy this morning. It seems they're the only place selling it at a cheap price ($10 off) as Gamestop told me it was the MSRP of $37. I don't really care to use it for the strategy aspect... mostly just to look at.

I've actually got a couple strategy guides at home that I've never even looked at (Final Fantasy XII, Gears of War, etc.) D:.

I also ended up ordering a Diablo III mousepad online from Gamestop. Now, it looks like Amazon has them in stock through a third party but shipped by Amazon. However, I should end up getting them for about the same price since Gamestop was only $14.99 vs. ~$22. I paid extra for 2-day shipping.

With the Cataclysm launch being relatively smooth I had began to think Blizz got their launch day act together... Apparently not.

Well, the original World of Warcraft launch was very messy, because Blizzard vastly underestimated the number of subscribers/users. Expansions should be easier to release (as long as the patches apply to the servers and clients properly and aren't buggy), because they aren't usually met with a substantial subscriber/user increase. Sure, people may resubscribe to experience the new expansion, but generally, it's maybe 10-20% at most.

In other words, my thought is that Blizzard may have underestimated the number of users based on the amount of people that played in open beta (around 2 million). These numbers are 100% POOMA, but if Blizzard assumed a 50% increase over open beta players (3 million), but actually saw a 100% increase... that's huge, and honestly, quite possible.

Some of us had finals two weeks ago. Its not a winning game. Theres no best time. Do you expect them to hold on to it for six whole months so it can be more conveniently released at Christmas? Then you'd cry they wasted too much time.

That is because you are a normal human being, not some internet hipster that hates everything newer than 20 years old and cries like a baby when servers are flooded on launch day.

Luckily I foresaw issues like this, and didn't see a reason to pre-order

I got it free for reupping WOW for a year so it's a win for me either way.

This is the biggest issue for Blizzard. I know I wouldn't be buying it right away. I got it for free, and I don't think I'm going to even bother logging in this week.

It was a deal they held for renewing with a 1 year contract. You had to sign up for it.

Definitely good if you're planning on playing MoP or if you're currently playing WoW. Too bad its over now.

Ya, any game that relies on servers you might as well expect it to not be running correctly for a week or two after launch. MMOs forget about it, filled with bugs at launch.

Again thats fine for YOU, but other folks have different schedules. Some of us have been off for a little while and would have liked it two weeks ago. Some people work full time and would have preferred Friday night. It doesnt matter. You cant please everyone. They put it out when they damn good and ready. Considering it took 10 years I dont think one week in either direction matters much.
Besides, most folks cant play right now cuz its getting hammered anyway. This way you can stroll in casually next week and actually get on.
