Just downed a 52 solo. I had really bad RNG at first and nearly rage quit but stuck it out... ended up getting one decent placed pylon that helped me take out a yellow pretty quick (he was super easy anyway) and a really easy boss. Voila!
I finally started trying solo grifts on my season 3 wizard, who is around 1.6m damage and 12m toughness. I'm using the aether walker/meteor shower/teleport stun build that honestly Reiko Zockt made famous with his grift 58 solo clear (season 3), though he's already up to around 800 paragon.
My first attempt I easily cleared grift 44, but somehow I cannot manage the chain stunning he does with high packs. I'm using ancient parthan defenders as well (with the max 12% damage reduction per mob stunned) but at this stage it seems like skill really does kick in, and I need to practice a lot more. I'm using an enchantress follower with the eun jang do weapon, the can't die token, and whatever cool down reduction and + attack speed gear I had that the follower could equip. I think this counts for a lot too, as the follower alone can perma stun a rift guardian at the low health range with enough attack speed, and I've seen some enchantresses shoot like a machine gun.
Wizards on the whole got a major overhaul thanks to del-rasha builds. I'm still praying for a good tal rasha amulet so I can finally wear my cindercoat.
Have there ever been discussions of a major loot overhaul? I did some digging and found old posts where people claim there is a way to manipulate loot drops in the way that you farm. My empirical evidence lends credit to this - I had never seen a WOH drop until I got two within 10 minutes of one another farming an area of act 2. I seem to get certain rare items like candy (ancient aether walkers and shards of hate) but I still have never seen a serpent sparker. Whereas other players even with much lower paragon levels have found loads, but never an ancient aether walker. I don't believe that the loot tables are completely randomised, nor that they are fixed upon character creation.
