Is non-set the way to go now in 2.4? I hear they made a lot more builds viable this time around, but I'm willing to bet there will be that 1 build for each class that op's everything else. It will be discovered in time.

Not that I have an issue with that. I'm just saying it's probably impossible for devs to account for every single thing.

The non-set path doesn't really work for wizards, but I hear that it is great for other classes (e.g., crusaders).

Thanks sweenish for that explanation. I'm glad that build diversity for wizards means that some skills I've never really used (or used to, a long time ago) have made a comeback. I hope it's the same for a lot of classes - I think this patch breathed a new bit of life into the game, and I'm definitely going for a leaderboard push this time. Hope I can get part of the gear grind out of the way asap (leaving ideal secondary rolls for later), and already start regularly farming grift 70.

Finally got a chance to jump back on last night. Ended up spending 1 1/2 hour managing invetory, and saw 2 ancient manticores in my stash. I thought cubing it might turn it into the new manticore, but nope... aye!!! Tried crafting 10 yellow xbow's, but got 0 Manticore.

Power creep pretty decent in this patch. After clearing all the mail, went out and tried the wizard a bit. Didn't touch him at all during last season and took him into t10 bounties. While killing was a bit slow (has no ancients and lacking the non-set piece legendary to complete the "spec"), never felt like I had any chance of dieing as I was easily able to keep the mobs grouped far enough away.

The DH which I did play last season does feel stronger in GR.

What is the go to build/set for wiz now? I haven't played wiz in so long.

Also, I wish I had ancient shenlong fists. I wonder how good the generator build is with the new litany/wailing set.

What they originally planned was a slog where you geared through the AH and not the game.

I'm glad for where the game is currently. Still not perfect, but easily heads and shoulders better than vanilla at launch.

Vanilla at launch was fantastic. It was extremely challenging and fun grinding for items to sell. The only complaint I had was that legendaries and sets never dropped. Other than that it was awesome. I for one miss the economy in the game. It's why PoE is so much better for me right now.

To each their own.

After getting my seasonal sader in an okay place, I'm totally going for a db farm wiz. Saw a couple builds yesterday, they are insane. T10 and much faster than my barb.

You won't be able to use Shenlongs with litany/wailing as you aren't allow to have any other active set bonuses.

I have plenty of decent ancient gear and may look into cobbling together something for monk and see how it goes.

lol I remember one of the alleged 'benefits' of PoE initially after the blowback from D3's release was that there was no AH and no currency. Now there's just a patchwork of a few trade/value sites with currency based off the various tiers of orbs or whatever they are - it's no different than bronze/silver/gold pieces.

I think a game with an econonomy but no AH or marketplace is basically incomplete. It's a fun activity unto itself for those inclined. You can have an economy without one but it's way more fragmented and inconsistent.

I loved the AH in D3... Still haven't heard a satisfactory explanation as to why it was removed... "Shortens the game" kind of makes sense since there were so few builds in D3 at the time. But PoE could have an AH because there are soo many builds. I don't think these companies trust their games very much sometimes...

Oh and D3 was fun last night! Only played an hour but found two legendaries.

I have played a trial of Diablo3 on pc but what format is recommended. It seems the cheapest option is to go via ps3 and get D3 + Reaper of Souls all for £15.
The PC route would require a £15 D3 base game and separate £15 Reaper of Souls expansion.

360 and ps3 do not receive updates. Content from the last 4 or so patches is not on them.

EDIT: I actually enjoy the free set. I'm still only T5/6, but the farm at that level feels better than slogging T2 waiting for six pieces all from 1 of 4 possible sets. I'm more motivated to push into the season journey and get that stash tab.

I decided to give a go for Season 5 after all, but so far I've been doing about 99% of my progression solo (only had a single session to help someone being power-leveled and did two T6 Rifts and one GRift with the group and that's it). And considering that, I think that I've been lucky enough since I can already farm T8 without much trouble, and go T9 with a bit of a risk on the survivability but is still feasible (and I'm already Paragon 288, and I know that some people are already Plvl 700+ by now, but I'm enjoying my 'struggle' in soloing everything). That's on my Might of the Earth Barb (already all 6 pieces), with which I soloed GRift 43 and trying to push to 45. I think that it took me a full week to reach that sort of progression in Season 4 on my Wizard, life is much easier now on a Barb it seems (or I'm just really lucky so far, and true enough my drops have been good in regular Rifts, heck I've had decent drops during Bounties as well).

Once I fully gear up my Barb (full Ancients) I'll give a try to the Monk (which I've been essentially ignoring since about a year by now). And if I have time before the Season ends I'll return to the Wizard which I loved during Season 4.

I really liked the set gifted to get people started. I am trying tog et ancient pieces but it is not happening with proper stats.

I did manage a GR 60 solo before PL 300 which was nice.

Set gifted to people? What do you mean? We get a free set?

Edit: Just googled it, it's rewards from season journey. Nice! Though once you play enough, you'll be getting so many set pieces it's not that big of a deal, but great to start out with!

Yeah the free set is a nice touch, it really lets you kind of blow by the 'interim phase' of random legendaries and low torment and jump straight in. Sunwuko 2 and 4 set aren't particularly strong on their own at least but soon as I got the 6 set it was a massive power leap.

Started off using LTK with Rivera Dancers but once I got some of the WoL gear it was a drastic improvement. I like that Kick can at least serve a purpose as kind of the starter spec but WoL with all the gear enhancing it (fist weapon, daibo, bracers, spirit stone) definitely has a higher ceiling.

I didn't think I was going to play much but I'm enjoying the change to Sunwuko (no more invisible buff) and want to try out some Inna and Wailing/Litany builds eventually. Seems like they did a pretty good job this patch of providing some 'generic' damage buffs that can be used for multiple styles of play.

Fired up another crusader. The free set is nice to get started. It feels like the streamlining is really making the gaming experience more fun. Aiming for a Hammerdin and then that no-set set.

Got myself up to 200. Still don't have Lut Socks, so tonight I'm gonna make a level 8 barb before I gamble.

Also, I wholeheartedly approve of this "free" 6-set. I have terrible luck getting greens, so this was immensely helpful.

Just curious, how does a level 8 barb get you lut socks?

Probably the minimum level for the item to drop. So if you were to spend blood shards and get a legendary there are fewer 'other legendaries' for it to select. It might help you get an item for the cube I suppose.

Ah...makes sense.

I just started my barb for S5 and I "luckily" got lut socks to drop at level 10 in a rift lol. So far I like it though

Can't wait to get a good leapquake barb going.
