Alright... instead of reading through the entire thread, I'm just going to ask (assuming this has already been asked here..)

Being a HUGE fan of D2 and having basically every item, character, skill, etc. covered...

The skill "tree" in D3 confuses me. Is "stacking" skill points an advantage? Back in D2, it would just be... rush someone, level them in cows, stack all your skill points and stat points, use them later on to customize your character to fit certain equipment.

As far as I see it, there is no "levels" of skills. Just those rune things. So basically when a new skill is available, you grab it. Am I missing something here? There's no real customaztion of skills and or stats anymore... besides what skills are on and off.

how does a wizard's weapon affect his spells? I'm still using the wand I got at level 1 because no other wands have dropped. I coulda been using a generic sword and it would somehow help my damage? I thought only the weapon's modifiers would help my damage

Yes, your spell damage is based on your weapon damage. Upgrade that weapon!

You got it. You either have a skill equipped or you don't. Later on you will be able to choose what rune you want with the skill, but the runes were designed so that higher level runes are basically always better.
Blizzard wanted all customization to be based on what equipment you wear.

from what I've seen so far, damage stats are based on weapon DPS, +damage item modifiers, and the stat that increases damage for your class

I'm not sure if elemental damage affects spell damage or not

Dumb question, is EVERYTHING the same in nightmare, just more difficult mobs?

different loot table, skill runes

It does, elemental damage adds to the total weapon damage which increases your skill damage. Your skill damage is determined by your weapon damage and your main attribute (e.g. int for wizards). Your skill attack speed is determined by your weapon attack speed. So using a big 2h weapon as a wizard makes your spells cast slowly but do more damage, while using a fast weapon like a dagger makes them cast faster but do less damage (for the same dps).

Anyone that has the CE, does the d2 cdkeys bind to your account based on the d3 cdkey or based on something from USB stick? I'd like to get the CE but give d2 to my wife so we can play online. I already have d2 on my battlenet account.

Yep. For a while yesterday I was even running around with a 2-hand hammer on my wizard because it had been a long time since I found ANY sort of weapon with a DPS upgrade (and it was a HUGE DPS upgrade lol).

Note that weapon speed also affects spell cast speed, however. Any 2H will make you cast slower than a 1-h. I much prefer a higher casting speed, myself, but if your damage falls way behind don't be afraid to try something different.

The CE comes with the D2 cd key on a separate card in the box. I.e. you can attach it to a different bnet account.

Someone needs to make a meme poster of the D3 friends list. A picture of a pissed off looking Cain saying "YOU HAVE NO FRIENDS" lol. Not gonna lie, when I first saw that I cried a little.

There's a card in the box that has the D2 CD Keys (base game + expansion), so they are seperate. The USB stick just contains the install basically.

edit: lol I'm too slow twice; very active thread

Just played for about an hour. Smooth as silk

Although, be sure to watch out for this game breaking bug:
http://www.gamespot.com/news/diablo-iii-game-breaking-bug-found-6376781
s detailed on Blizzard's Diablo III known issue page, while playing a Demon Hunter, players who equip a shield to a Templar follower run the risk of being disconnected from the game's servers. Blizzard is currently investigating the issue, and according to the company's European customer service Twitter feed, a fix is on the way.

I think people have hit Lvl 60 within 48 hours of D3 release but it isn't much of a accomplishment in my eyes

game starts at Inferno difficulty and from what I've seen of the people trying Inferno difficulty, they're trying to skip as much stuff as possible because the elite packs are absolute murder and on boss fights, they just try to keep ressing each other because they are undergeared for the content

HAHAHA this is awesome!

So let me see if I can recap this:

First there was the argument that always on DRM isn't a bad thing because everybody has internet and if you don't you probably shouldn't be buying games anyway.

Then, after it was exhaustively explained that it's not weather or not you have internet that's the issue - but weather or not you can run the game without getting disconnected from the server, people again smugly argued that if you can't afford something better than a 56k modem you probably shouldn't be buying games in the first place.

Now that like half the player base are having constant issues with running the game even with good internet, people are trying to dismiss that as "blizzard being blizzard" because all their games have issues at launch, as if that's any sort of of a valid excuse. You heard it, you should just be patient and wait until Blizzard fixes the very game they had over half a decade to fix so you can enjoy your $60 purchase!

And when this problem persists for weeks because Blizz servers are being overwhelmed with hundreds of thousands, if not millions of new subscribers each day -something that you probably can't fix in a day or two if you couldn't do it in the last couple of years despite your embarrassingly huge budget- they'll be telling us that Diablo is a game that you play for months or years, so what's a few weeks of shittiness to you.

De-freaking-licious!

Now go order your $60 skinner-box and enforce the idea that gaming companies can get away with anything provided that there's a certain number after the name of their product and that they spent enough millions hyping up said product instead of using them to make it functional at launch. Enjoy.

Except of course that is it already fixed. I have not heard of anyone having problems today.

That's what you get for retardedly rushing through instead of playing the game like you are suppose to, multiple corpse run.

Not sure why you are nerd raging so hard, if you really have an issue with not being able to play the very first day the game comes out, don't buy it until a week later? I had no problems playing it last night when I got home from work and did what I had to do first before starting it up. Played for a few hours and it was a ton of fun.

LOL. So direct. They even put an ! for that too. No excuse though with the extensive list we've generated on here already.

You misunderstand me, I didn't buy it, and probably won't play it until it's in the bargain bin and there's literally nothing better to play said time around.

Also, I would be careful about breaking the "I'm not having any trouble with it, therefore it's not a problem" line, you might garner a lot of hate from dissatisfied customers on this thread.
