I played to level 15 and finished act 1 solo this morning. Got a few things to do but will be on tonight.

You misunderstand me, I didn't buy it, and probably won't play it until it's in the bargain bin and there's literally nothing better to play said time around.

Also, I would be careful about breaking the "I'm not having any trouble with it, therefore it's not a problem" line, you might garner a lot of hate from dissatisfied customers on this thread.

I'm pretty sure most people understand what is going on and have been through this with WoW when it first opened. Also, more mature people just shrug it off as a day they can't play and would go do something else.

the game is awesome. cant wait to get home and give my wizard a new weapon. I'm like level 10 using the level 1 wand because no other wand has dropped. If the damn weapons are affecting my spellcasting there should be something that lets me know this at some point. Oh well, thanks forums.

Yeah only advantage to holding onto the starter wand as a wiz is to keep the (minimum) no mana damage source. But otherwise get someone thing else as higher wep dps boost spell damage.


Also not sure about the doctor as it was the only class I barely touched since I didnt realize closed beta ended same time open beta did. But it did feel like it may be more of a group chat (at least till you got a bit more experienced with it).

I got a sigil for the beta achievement, now to figure out what that does for me.

dude i don't even know how i stayed up thru all the server down time.
i'd have to guess 15 hours? but we explored every inch of every area looking to get xp and find loot. it's expensive trying to upgrade the blacksmith and gemsmiths

I got a sigil for the beta achievement, now to figure out what that does for me.

It goes on your battle standard. Just a bit of flair. You can change their shape, pattern, color, and the sigil + accent. Some achievements unlock more options.

Not sure, people are saying the servers are fine now. I'm at work and will play it when I get home from work and the gym. I was one of the lucky ones last night and was able to play for a bit, the servers were a bit laggy sometimes but I was able to get my Barb to level 11 and past the Skeleton King.

Reading the skills from other Diablo 3 sites, it seems that skills that inflict damage do a percentage of weapon damage, so everything is based off of your weapon. It can range from 110% to 2000% or something, not counting other skills and stats that also increase damage by a %.

All damage is based off of weapon damage/dps, plus equipment modifiers, and then skill modifiers.

For example - an axe that does 15dps, plus a chest piece modifier that adds 10% dps, so we're at 16.5 dps, and then your skill does 150% weapon dps damage, which would then be 24.75 base damage for your skill.

While I will sometimes play the game solo, I'd never want to play this game without the ability to join up with other players (whether I know them or they're random people), trade, etc. I loved D1 and D2, but single-player was downright boring once you experienced multiplayer in both games. I'd NEVER have gotten the replayability out of a single-player game. IMO in this case it's not "always on DRM"...it's just a multiplayer game, period. They designed it from the ground up to be an online game. That's not a problem for this game in my eyes.

Of course, I've seen admittedly many people say they only ever wanted a new single-player game, and I feel for them somewhat. Especially since D3 seems to be balanced better for solo play than the other 2 (considering item drops and crafting/etc). But I still love that it's designed with multiplayer in mind from the ground up this time.

Yeah, mature people don't complain about these things, I mean playing video games is embarrassing enough without making a fuss about their shortcomings - It doesn't make someone pathetically insecure about their hobby, it just means one has about a thousand more important serious adult stuff to do with their important time (I'm sure).

In the end, how much crappier could this medium get if people didn't complain (lol complaining about video games) - it's not like most publishers are cynical money grabbers that would sell you processed cheese for 60 bucks if they could get away with it. And if in 5 years you'll be hard pressed to find a game without always on DRM, half a dozen 0 day DLCs and bugs up the ass, at least you'll still get to keep your maturity.

I think you missed the point; people are allowed to have complaints, but be mature about it and try and make sense. People are raging over not being able to play because they want to, but most mature people understand shit happens and would expect something might happen on the first day of a big release. The non-mature people are the ones who immediately go to metacritic and give D3 a 0/10 because "LAWL BLIZZARD TEH N00B".

I'm not the one stressing and raging like crazy about a game being down. They created a product, I purchased it, I'm pleased with it, good enough for me. To me, Diablo 3 is just a video game, not some grand race in life that I need to compete in to prove something.

The Amazon reviews are just as bad. Even in the "good" reviews, you get a decent amount of misinformation, which might be partially Blizzard's fault. Just like someone did on here, a reviewer stated that you couldn't choose any skill, which is wrong. The problem is that Blizzard doesn't make this fact very apparent.

They're quite content with turning on the Fisher Price My First Action RPG system, and never telling you how to take off the training wheels.

I think that is a serious criticism about how they handled the casual-friendly aspects.

Yeah, I mean honestly, by the standards of most big MP game launches....they did pretty well.
