I got mine on the 14th, but didn't notice it until late at night. It took forever to DL yesterday, so I haven't had much time to play it yet.

One thing I noticed it that is runs like ass when I have FSAA ticked on, so maybe the engine isn't optimized yet. Otherwise, it seems pretty fun, with classic D2 gameplay.

I like the conversations you have, and the talking journal entry thingies.

What I don't like are that there are only five inflexible classes, the skill sets seem pretty small, and you can't even choose your stats any more. Dumbing down a game and lack of customization options are bad things, in my book. This looks to be part-and-parcel of the questionable design decisions they have made with WoW in the last few years.

They dumbed down the aspects which were pointless to customize (i.e. the "correct build or else you're gimped" stuff).

I like being able to play the game without having to agonize, every level up, about permanent decisions which I have little knowledge of the long term effects of on which to base my decision. I like my character to be highly customizable through with gear, skill choices, and runes which I can fiddle with to my heart's content rather than permanent stat allocations.

It kind of makes me glad that I don't have to fiddle with so much stuff in Diablo III. I spent over an hour just working out differences between gear in WoW last night using simulators, and I'd rather not get stuck with something like that in Diablo III.

Oh man you just reminded me of those horrors in WoW. I spent way more than an hour figuring out what gear to go for.

Each character has 20+ active skills, a number of passives to choose from (with a different skill point pool, so you aren't choosing between active and passive skills), and all of the active skills can be socketed with a runestone, which does anything from boosting the power of a skill, changing the damage type, adding effects to it, changing it from single target to aoe, or any number of other things. All in all every character class has roughly 100ish different active skills to choose from. Reportedly armor and weapon customization is much deeper and more varied than in D2 also, but that remains to be seen because very little has been shown about items so far. Do some research before you write a game off, I'm so tired of hearing about shit being "dumbed down" and "consolized" from people who haven't played or bothered to learn anything about a game.

As far as I know, runes aren't active in the beta yet. Once you have access to them, they will add a new layer of complexity, and will allow tons of customizability (is that a word? lol) at least that's what Blizzard is claiming.

Got an invite on my main account and an invite on another account.

Been playing with my wife. Excellent game for what little there is in the beta.

As a loooooooong time Diablo 2 player, I am not disappointed with Diablo 3.

I wish I could get an invite

Even if it's only a few hours worth of gameplay, I'd still like to test it out.

Anyone Pre-Order the collector's edition? It's available on Amazon....has been for a week or so now.

$99.99 - ridiculous, but I guess SC2 CE was also $99.99. CE's in general have gotten so much more expensive nowadays.

Not sure if I'll keep at this point, but better to secure a copy now than not and regret it later.

I have it ordered through GameStop. Although, I did have them upgrade it over the phone, which makes me want to go in and make sure it was done correctly. I've heard far too many horror stories when it comes to GameStop and pre-orders.

F gamestop. Don't give them your business.

Order through Amazon. Much better company and you save on taxes.

Argh, why does Comcast have to be screwed up! :| Downloading 3GB at 100k/s is way past uncool.

Were you guys Opt-In or facebook invites?

I think I got it through opt-in. I did sign up through Facebook as well, but I think that was another e-mail address.

I don't think it's Comcast. I got shitty speeds when I downloaded it too and I'm with another ISP. Must be Blizzard's client.
