I guess they also addressed the farming issues, the 'boss' Leoric doesn't drop anything good after the first run through and all the Waypoints/quests are reset after you've done them so you would have to start from the very beginning to just to get to the 'boss' so the fastest way is to try to jump in on someone's game that's going for the quest. Since the loot is separated (ala guild wars) whatever drops for you is for YOU while anybody elses drops are hidden so jumping in on someone's boss kill doesn't ruin it for them.

You can change the quests to the "Black King Quest" right off the bat.

Wait...what?

Boss runs were the best part of Diablo.

I would still like to play this to see what's what. I have a laptop only, and not a gaming one (though it was relatively quick 18 months ago), but I registered it at blizzard and signed up for the beta. Either they have enough users or this thing is just incapable of playing diablo 3.

It seems like the loot you get off them gets worse with each progressive kill. At least it did when I killed the SK on my sorc about 5 times, and the last one I don't think I even got a blue. I'm not quite liking it either. There should be some incentive for going after a boss over just farming random mobs in the levels.

the drops from killing the Leoric might get worse simply because its the beta or simply because its normal, wait for the full game see if it holds true

after the first time you kill a boss the quality of drops are based on some loot table. I've run the SK 50+ times in Beta, and had instances where he dropped 3 blues and other times 0 blues. Another time he even dropped a yellow + blues (not the first kill). All random.

think something like that was built into D2 to combat bot farming

wouldn't be surprised if D3 has it too

Yeah i saw that about 40 minutes after it was posted and all the codes were gone already. They just posted a bunch of keys on their wall and let people FFA for them. They're going to do it all week though, I'm hoping to get one at some point this week.

My guess would be this. They don't want you botting/running the same boss over and over. They want you to go hunting for treasure chests or unique minions.

I don't remember D2 ever having diminishing returns from bosses, though my memory may be faulty. Their primary method was to just temp ban you if you did too many runs per hour.

However, I'm kinda bummed that they're dropping the focus on boss runs. In D2, the Act bosses not only had higher chances of loot drops, but the fights were infinitely more interesting than the random boss packs. The random packs could be challenging at times...but that's usually only if their buffs were waaaay unbalanced. Then, they were usually more annoying than anything else...and heck, there were so many mob types that were simply annoying rather than fun to fight. If they manage to make the random boss packs fun in D3, my opinion might change. If I had to guess, though, I'd say D3 will have it's fair share of annoying, un-fun mobs.

An MMO game like WoW has to have pretty regular updates with new content to keep people interested. If they can truly make people interested in finding and fighting random boss packs, that takes a lot of pressure off needing new content updates. However, giving people incentive to explore random locations because of the loot spread does NOT equal a game worth exploring...I hope they've manged to do it, but I give them long odds.

Bosses had a higher chance to drop better loot the first time you downed them. Although, they still could have a vast loot table.

I got a friend's beta, installed it and tried it out. I got my beta invite the next day, go figure.

I am not happy with the small maps, extremely linear movement, map on screen image and much more.

The graphics and play are great but the game just lacks compared to Diablo 2 as of now. Diablo 2 was vast, open areas, could move around at your own pace to do as you please, excellent mini map on screen.

I will still buy the game but this did not hook me in as of now, hopefully it will later.

Im not touching any of the betas neither am i watching any videos on Diablo. I want the experience to be fresh. Ther Barbarian video they showcased about 3 years ago had my mouth watering even then. Having a hard time not trying to touch anything "Diablo".

I wanna go "OHHH SNAPPP" rather than "Meh, doesnt look as good as in the video"
