Diablo 2 and Titan Quest were the same way. On harder levels you could get killed almost instantly. Had to run away and fight guerrilla style.

i got owned in TQ even on normal. the end boss kicked my ass so hard.

diablo2 i think i got through nightmare all the way to act5 before needing absolutely outrageously good items (all the leet runewords)

The worst part is if you put all your points into health you still wont have enough to survive tough battles later on, and you can't kill baddies cuz your strength will be shit.

I haven't played Diablo for over a decade and am wondering what class would be best to choose for my first playthough of Diablo 3. I wouldn't touch the witch doctor to begin with and probably not the demon hunter either. It looks like the barbarian would be the most newb friendly class but I'm wondering if the monk or wizard would be more fun to play as. Any suggestions?

After playing all 5 classes during the beta weekend, my impression is the WDoc is hardest to kill since it's just a summoner. Next is Barb. then the monk, wizard. Demon hunter is the least powerful of the 5, I had trouble keep her alive.

but truth be told, you not playing solo like in D2, D3 is forcing you going coop, so even if you play a weaker char like demon hunter in a coop game, it's not as bad to survive. I think you are still thinking D3 like in D2, trying to make a char to solo hell.

I've noticed that the exp for this monster in Hell v Inferno is similar even know XP is that much more. I take it the drop for better item is different Hell v Inferno so that is the reward. And from what I heard by the time we finish Hell the chars should already get to 60 so might as well make exp 0 in Inferno mode since that don't matter no more, we just there for the drops.

DH was the only character I died with. I died once due to a mistake and after I corrected what I did, I never got close to dying again. The DH destroyed everything before it got to me.

I am playing a Barb first.

You're right. I haven't read much about D3 so I'm going into the game pretty much blind. All I really have are my feint memories of D2. I expected to play the game solo and then after I beat it go co-op or try a different class. I'll drop my assumptions and instead play the game first so I can get a feel for what it actually is.

I still don't know what class I'll choose first. I narrowed it down to the barbarian, wizard and monk. I guess it doesn't really matter because I'll basically be learning the game for the first couple of hours and then choose a different class if I don't like my current one.

We felt like PvP needs its time, it needs its time where it’s the only priority, so that’s why we chose to kind of push it off.

I don’t see it slipping out of this year at all, and I think it’ll be much sooner.

Oh and this might be an important thing to note for AMD GPU users:

If you're using ATI's Catalyst 12.4 release, you need to revert to an earlier version. 12.4 isn't going to be supported for use in Diablo III.

I don't know why it wouldn't work, but I guess it won't.

"UPDATE 2:22pm: An AMD representative has informed us that that bug referred to by the Blizzard forum support person in fact ONLY affects Radeon HD 2000, 3000 and 4000 users. The 12.4 Catalyst software will work fine with 5000, 6000 and the new 7000 series of graphics cards apparently. "

So everything is fine basically because if i remember correctly 12.4 dosent support those GPU's anyway because AMD ditched monthly support for them a few weeks ago. Not sure though.

The choice quote from the video is that when Blizzard's internal team found a point where they thought Inferno was challenging, Blizzard doubled the difficulty from there as they figure that players will also be more inventive.

That really doesn't give too much information about challenge, but hopefully it points to things being difficult.

Because they are already old, optimized to hell in past few years and back and some of the GPUs are too slow even for the likes for D3?

tl;dr - CPU speed doesn't matter at all but GPU speed does for high resolutions.

Whats wrong here with the prices conversion? is there anywhere else i can buy it and play the moment servers goes live ? will amazon give CD-KEYS instantly at 00:00 ? or what? i dont want either to wait for the shipping , it could take more than 15 days ... i live in israel ..

I can't be 100% sure, but they may just give you the CD key once you order it. Since Diablo III isn't playable without the servers, it wouldn't matter if they did. Everyone that did the WoW annual pass has had Diablo III on their accounts (just like if they added a key) for months now.

If not, you'll get it at midnight, but I'm not sure which timezone that will be.

I am considering banning myself from the internet until Diablo 3 because I'm getting the really annoying sense that I want to read up on everything I can about the characters, find out what I'm going to face, how things are going to progress story-wise

And... has anyone tested Diablo 3 with a CrossfireX system? I'm running two HD6870's in CrossfireX, haven't seen AMD release a Profile for D3 and I'm curious. I've got an SSD, i5 2500K and 8Gb of DDR3 to back me up so I think that's all covered.

Well, it's from level 8 Skeleton King to Inferno level Skeleton King.

It's less like the max level stat inflation from vanilla to Panda, and more like the stat inflation from a boss in WC to a boss in Stratholme or Scholomance, or possibly Moten Core.

Not sure what to think of the witch doctor yet. Been in beta for awhile but after seeing how short they allowed you to go after my first char (and them deleting chars about every patch) I only stopped in for a couple minutes every now and them. Just played far enough to get my second ability which was the arm slow thing that seemed rather underwhelming.
