Something I thought off after logging in to wow and lotro for a bit before going to d3 last night, the d3 servers either suck or they have gone cheap on the number they're using. 45ms in lotro, not much more than that in wow, and for d3 im happy that it stays just below 300 so the bar doesn't change color.

They explained in some forum post that their method of calculating latency is more "accurate" than other games and therefore, while the number is high, it would correspond to a number much lower in other games.

It sounds like bs to me too but honestly, I did notice that the game is still playable and fairly responsive some of those laggy days when I had like 300-400 ping. 400ish ping in other games would be utterly unplayable. So, it may be legit.

That might be true. The 200ms on Diablo is a lot more tolerable than 200ms on LoL, which is my only other online game atm to compare by... Then again, it's not as much twitch timing atm since I'm not at Inferno, maybe I'm just more hyper aware of latency in LoL... Oh perception, how you screw with me.

I mentioned this earlier too, but WoW used to have considerably higher latency until Blizzard implemented that data send method that used more data. Since Blizzard doesn't want the online aspect of D3 to be a detriment (heh), chances are they didn't put that into D3 as it would make the game unplayable on dial-up.

Last night I only just got the 'Talk to Leah' achievement in A1 Inferno, but I also can't tell if that's because they finally 'opened up' in Inferno or if I just never talked to her enough in A1 on other difficulties or not.

I know Leah is definitely available prior to beating Normal. Leah and Adria are both achievable prior to beating Act III.

but yeah, the convo thing is wigging me out. although with achievements being account wide, having lower level toons to check for some you might have missed works out as well.

Well, I might just use the quest jumping ability to find the right spot where it appears. For example, I'm missing Shen's "King Leoric" one, which I assume occurs before or after you beat him.

Yeah, that's what I heard. Supposedly it's also the same guy that did Po's father in Kung Fu Panda, but I haven't checked the actor's IMDB page to verify that.

Yea as soon as shen spoke I knew it was him. Somebody at blizzard must like that movie as there are also multiple references to it in WoW.

Since d3 also a blizz title, its doing the same thing (normally when I open chest for example).


On the other this doesn't occur, but the slow ms does feel noticeable to me when playing.

I sort of believe it, but the lag is still terrible. I don't need numbers to tell me that.

I don't see how it will help you much in the long run. You'll possibly reach level 60 faster, but you won't have the gear to tackle Inferno anyway.

Only if they don't keep a second set of equipment at the ready for use when they reach Inferno. Wouldn't take up much space to keep one of each type of item in either your inventory or your stash and then upgrade/replace as you get better stuff. Then switch it out when you are ready or need it.

but yeah, I don't see the + to EXP being a huge benefit. I usually only use it if I don't have anything better in the offering.

Umm, D2 was the same way... At least in this hardcore, you only get moved to software and not lose all your gear and everything like in D2... I am not sure how exactly they are dragging them into town spawn, I guess thats possible right now. I am sure that will be added to their long list of things to fix.


And AH has had problems since launch. The games only been out like a week so....gotta be a little forgiving.

For me, if you are playing hardcore and you choose to play in an open game (and you aren't already 60th level), you are really asking for trouble. There are always people who are going to try and do stunts like that because they think it is funny or because they want to get one up on people.

Play with people you know, or at least somewhere where you aren't going to get some random git who thinks that kind of thing is funny.
