For the auction house:

Is there a way to get the stat improvement statistics when browsing the AH like you get when examining equipment in game? On several occasions I bought newer equipment with higher physical damage but becasue it had less +Dex & IAS the overall improvement was not worth the price.

Is there any way to filter out auctions that have NO buyout? I hate scrolling through several pages of equipment with 1.5+ days of bid time left because its likely in that time I will have leveled past the item anyway.

How many of you buy more via "auction" rather than buyout? I think only like 5% of my purchases have not come from buyout. I generally only bid on items < 2 hours left.

im also thinking the rash of comped accnts is because of how new the game is, they always spiked on WoW expansion releases as well. bet they will again when the panda one comes out

as for wiz, Try Blizz + venom hydra + diamond skin + energy armor (whatever its called) disint + whatever else you like i use shock pulse + orb rune
you can swap teleport in there for one of the spells if you just want to kite around
its really OP in a closed space with a corner. open filed is a bit tricky with fast mobs

I just put in a max buyout price at the bottom of the search, filters pretty well for me.

I haven't placed a single bid, but I have been using the AH more and more for items. You can really crush some swarms when you have the right gear.

Thanks, that is exactly what I do now ... but have not tried energy armor actually, any good?

im playing Diamond skin with (+absorb rune), teleport (with multiple teleports chance), ice nova (i find it too important to let go, its a life saver), archon, desintegrate and venom hydra

and in groups i go for more damage...

Energy weapon with bonus crit
magical weapon with +15% weapon damage
hydra
archon
desintegrate
nova

yeah, im not playing with any kind of primar skill... i have many good skills but too little shortkeys to use them -.-

edit: anybody uses magic weapon or familiar? they can add a lot of damage

I know people are complaining about getting hacked, but it really is worth it to get the authenticator ... when you have a vastly popular game like this, it's bound to get targeted, a lot.

That is the reason why I got the authenticator a long time ago for WoW. Even though I've always been careful with what I put on my computer or what sites I view, why run the risk? The authenticator is very cheap, Blizzard isn't making any profit on it, in fact they want you to buy it since it will probably save them time from investigating more hack tickets.

And people who think they are super safe and run all these anti-virus or spyware programs don't know just how easy you can get an undetectable program onto your computer. You don't even have to click anything, just one banner that is infected and you're screwed and that is one out of probably hundreds of way to compromise your computer from the internet.

without doing all the searching for pricethings.... like ball park on what is deseriable? i know high main/vit sells well..

im only level 43.. and sometimes i feel like im and underselling some items.

I am playing with the "magic weapon" buff (+ "force" rune), lvl 58 and with the buff now 18500DPS. Teleport/duplicates is *amazing* for kiting since it distracts the mobs and you can then get distance and DPS them..otherwise for my primary i use Arcane Orb (with the exploding bubble thing) and occasionally disintegrate.

(Disintegrate was quite good a few days ago but now the Orb just owns everything, disintegrate mainly just for the cool look it has )

Unless is Elites, i have no problems since i simply blow everything up. I had other armors/hydra etc earlier...but the magic weapon buff + force rune is simply too good.
Oh, i also use storm armor with the rune for reducing Arcane power costs since the orb uses quite some of it.

Right now, the only thing (Inferno) which really threatens me are those stupid laser beams popping up once in a while with Elites or some mistakes when you run into something, get trapped etc.

I am really liking the wizard, i never played a mage in WoW...i never really liked them..but in D3 they rock.

The auction house in general is quickly getting redundant. Items don't break or attune/bind meaning everyone that has bought an item before 60 likely put it back for sale. And as more and more people play and add items you have like 100 pages of the same item with slightly different stats.

I am already noticing that items I considered a 'steal' when I bought them won't even sell back at half the price I paid in the first place.

I tried something this morning, bought a very low priced hammer that had about 40% more dps than my current weapon but NO strenght or vitality at all... however it has an empty slot and also gave a fairly large bonus per hit so I want to see if my dps will actually improve and my health remain fairly stable considering I lose 155 vitality I think. (My impression is that it will suck and quickly get replaced)

Weapons are all 95% about the raw dps, get your stats on other items. There's a couple stats such as life steal which are mostly only on weapons if you are stacking it.

Vit/main stat is a good combo, almost anything with "resist all" is valuable (look for 30+, and resist all coupled with another resist is quite nice), magicfind mixed with usable stats is good, socketed helms with usable stats sell well. Chest and pants with multiple sockets and stats are popular. Movement speed boots with stats are good sellers. Jewelry with damage/aspd/crit chance/crit damage are extremely valuable, if you can get two of any four of those in a decent amount it's probably worth something.

left click = deadly reach w/ keen eye OR crippling wave w/ variety of runes depending on group or solo
right click = sweeping winds w/ blade storm OR lashing tail kick w/ sweeping armada OR cyclone strike w/ 34 yard rune
1/2/3 = defensive cooldowns, pick your poison. i use serenity/heal blind/30%dmg and heal/15% dmg
4 = mantra of evasion w/ hard target for solo, mantra of conviction w/ 24% dmg for group, mantra of retribution w/ IAS if i'm just running with a decked out DH

passives for solo = seize (100% dex = armor), transcedence, and one with everything
passives for group = seize, resolve, and one with everything
passives if buffing ranged = chant of resonance, guiding light, and one with everything


solo play in a2 inferno is doable if you play smart. pull small groups of mobs and stack TONS of armor and resists for effective HP.

Hmm, thanks. I'm level 42 currently in Nightmare, always play in groups, and try to tank by using numerous Cyclone Strikes w/Wall Of Wind to pull mobs off of the ranged people. It's not holding up that well now as my equipment is pretty poor.

im just selling lots of ugly low lvl stuff at 700-1000 and they sell.

I know its nothing given what the high lvl items cost, but what can i do with them? the vendors ingame give me 200g for them. And some people sell them for a lot... i know i wouldnt be getting a shitty lvl 15 item that i know it will stick with the character for 1 hour at best.
if i go above 1000 buyout they dont sell and get lost in the ocean of the same items with the same price. below 1000 i guess there are not so many so they sell

edit: when does Magic finding starts to get noticeable? what character should i focus on having MF stats instead of raw damage/health?

When I sell stuff, for wiz gear and demon hunter gear, I kind of know what is 'the best' at that level, because I had 1 tab full of gear for each guy ... so my 'best' items @ level 23 have sold for 15k buyout...and some for 5k, the most I got was 25k @ level 32 gear.

I will soon be selling off my level 4x gear, and I assume similar pricing should get them sold just as quickly.

yeah, I only had one REALLY good item at 23, haha..they're all rare's, some 'max stat' blues as well sell for 15k~.

Also with regards to hacks, I still think it's the players. Suffice to say I deal with enough average computer users at work every day to not be even remotely surprised at the number of people it happens to. Just because you ran Malwarebytes doesn't mean you didn't catch something.

The one and only time my WoW account was ever compromised, I could never find a definite culprit. There was no evidence in any scan, and the only solution that ever worked was a complete reformat. I believe the source of the problem was a flash backdoor available at the time and I think it may actually have been a flash banner embedded in the WoWAce updater.

They're not always detectable (these aren't necessarily generic virii or keyloggers, sometimes they're built with a very specific purpose of simply nabbing your bnet info, D3 login, WoW login, etc and this means its going to behave differently and not be as easily identified) and there are cases where even if you don't click a link or don't click "Yes" on a program, it can still happen.

So you used a third party exe in WoWAce to get compromised, and think that would apply to the rest of us getting hacked in D3? I suppose if there was a google chrome vulnerability in how it sandboxes, that would be the only way I would've been hacked.

im in act 2 hell on my monk and i run this

1) BoH + bonus heal
2) seranity + Heal or +1s rune
3) sweeping wind + length rune or flash + dbl flash rune
4) mantra of healing + the last rune i think

LM) Fists of thunder with dodge or lightning rune
RM) crippling wave with range rune

running transendence, Dex to armor and one with everything i think, but im not sure,

i can solo pretty much everything cept some random types of elites with molten/fast/vamp

i switch to 1000 fists + tele rune for bosses, worked like cake on the butcher

Tuesday maintenance is something you learn to live with. However, World of Warcraft eventually became a lot more rock solid, and Blizzard usually just performed rolling restarts on Tuesdays. Maybe once Diablo 3 becomes a bit more ironed out, Blizzard will do the same with it.

love the ios app, super easy to use.

As a bit of warning, make sure to save your recovery information from the app! If you ever have to change your phone for any reason, your authenticator will no longer work with your account. It does not matter if you restore your phone. The authenticator is based on some specific aspect of your phone (something specific like the serial number).

I swear all the people complaining about the gear and legendaries and such never played Diablo 2. Seriously, it is one and the same. Almost everything you find is pretty lousy and what's good is determined more by randomization than an item's actual rarity.

It's interesting because Borderlands is just like what you've described, but I've never minded playing that. Something just seems to set me off about Diablo 3, and it's not the online aspect. That doesn't really bother me at all.

It's even more odd because I don't like playing ranged characters in D3, but in Borderlands... pretty much everyone is ranged.

One thing that does kind of disappoint me is that all of the juicy lore bits are tucked away into the optional dialog between main characters. They need to put all this stuff right out in the open! This is coming from the same person that read all of the in-game books in WoW.

Those flash ads in update programs make me cringe a bit. Given how I play WoW and use the Curse Client, I'm tempted to pay for their premium services just to get rid of the Flash ads. I could also cheat and just add an entry to my hosts file to remove their ads! :twisted:

Luckily, now you can just restore to the old code if you replace your phone/lose it!

also TONS of stuff sells between 5-15k

basically i list stuff at 10k if its a wep and has good stats. 15k for better weps, other things i randomly list from 3k+ depending on what i feel like and what level the item is.

also if you are buying weps for yourself you can basically just resell them at the same price for a loss of 0 when you upgrade
