Cleared A2 Inferno on my Barb and made it through A3, but A3 was horrible. A2 I actually managed to do pretty well in, changed my build up a bit and got a new weapon and pants; ended up one-shotting Belial with a 5 stack of valor so was kind of hoping I was over the hump, lol.
On the ramparts trying to light the torches I ran into a a champion pack and an elite pack of those guys who look like big "Fallen" and swing their 2h axe overhead and they annihilated me lol. I noticed from A2 to A3 it feels like the 'trash' mobs do way more damage, easily 4-5k a swing.
I like Barb, but it is quite difficult to try and balance survivability with damage output especially when the former takes such specific, expensive gear. And I don't like how it feels like everyone else is so far ahead of you in terms of output without relying on Wrath and Earthquake.
In A3 I was able to slowly progress and kill a few champs/elites (many were just unmanageable though) until I had to get through the 'breach' in the keep. Which was brutal, took me three full repairs to get through there on top of a lot of 'dragging' elites out of the way because I had no chance against them. Then I finally got to Ghom and brickwall. I'd run up to swing at him and lose half my health just from the shit he leaves on the ground. My wizard friend eventually carried me through it by kiting Ghom around and I pretty much just kept the slimes off him. Siegebreaker Assault Beast was pretty silly as well, essentially I ran in circles while Tyrael and my enchantress killed him.
Barb has potential, I think it's just a far more severe gear check than it is for 'all dps' classes.
Also if anyone's come across them, I'm interested in buying Plans: Helm of Command for Blacksmithing or any Tomes of Blacksmithing you've got laying around.
