a. They're really expensive
b. IAS will get nerfed(so not sure how it'll affect)
c. They're still really expensive despite IAS getting nerfed

It'll get nerfed but not by much I don't think.
Not to mention Monks will need ias to generate spirit anyhow. so if you can find deals ~ may be worth it to pick up.

i started doing hell pony runs after spending 750k en crafting the staff and doing both upgrades ....man that was expensive... i had to borrow money...

i found some nice resist to all gear for my wiz, although my dps went down like hell.
chagned from a 26k dps (with magic weapon) build to a 14-15k dps (without magic weapon), but with aproximately 300-400 resis and maybe 2 or 3k more hp and i noticed the difference. I was able to NOT insta-blowup by everything in inferno act1, even to those nasty mortar mobs that i hate so much.

after doing a couple parts of act1 being 2, 2 more friends joined and we played until leoric pretty easily although leoric had like 15mill hp, it was a pain in the ass to kill (not hard though, just eternal)

EDIT: BTW, any WIZ who could give me a guide on what skills are the better? i found myself changing a lot cause i cant quite find a set of 6 skills that im confortable with... im playing mostly defensive right now

1) diamond skin with + absorb rune
2) arcane energy with + % resist
3) mirror image with 5 images
4) teleport with decoy
click1) i dont know what to do here... im using the electrocute skill with the "throw many electric balls in a line" rune
click2) arcane orb (with -arcane power cost or with the "go through enemies" rune)

i switch mirror image to venom hydra from time to time but i always feel that i need THOSE images to confuse the enemies.
and sometimes i switch click1 for click2 and i go archon in click 2 (when im with a friend)

Well, at $12/million, you need to sell 500 million gold. If you can farm 300k/hr/account, it only takes ~17 hours to farm that 500 million gold with 100 accounts. So, if you make it a week before all 100 of your accounts have been banned, that's just over 5 billion gold. If you sell it all at $10/million, you'll have made a profit of $44000 in that week.

Not bad for an investment of $6k.

Yeah but like we already been discussing, if people keep doing that doesnt it drive the price down quickly?

Yeah I agree. I have some bids in on some nice weaps with % dealt to life. Hopefully I'll have won them when I get home I have a lot of room to grow on resits and DPS. Currently using dual weaps around 680DPS. If I had two 1k+ DPS weaps... wow. While I could easily buy some Blues with 800+, I try to focus on rares with Crit and Dex.

if you're farming a1 inferno w/ dual wield w/o blowing defensive cooldowns, then you're ready for act2. if you're using constantly blowing cooldowns to kill butcher, then you're not geared enough for act2.

Yeah, and I'd be surprised if they were able to move that much in a week, especially with the competition, but there's still the possibility of a great return on the initial investment. Their ability to keep it up is another story.

It is kindof funny to hear this from a gold farmer's perspective: "Blizzard is going to fail if they don't do something about all my competition. They suck."

What do you mean by Blowing Cooldowns? If you mean I should be able to tank the Butcher without healing or using invulnerable skills, than no i'm not able to.

What's good depend entirely on your gear. I'm using electrocute/forked lightning, arcane orb/obliteration, frost nova/deep freeze, archon/improved archon, magic weapon/force weapon, energy armor/pinpoint barrior with Prodigy, Astral Presence and Critical mass. But I've got a nearly 50% Crit rate, and without it that setup would be pretty bad.

Arcane Missle with Seeker (good for shooting from around the bend while kiting using terrain)
Arcane orb with either celestial or tap the source (celestial is nice for invulv shield, and also makes farming act 1 easier)
Hydra with venom (great for bosses)
Energy Armor w/ force armor
Blizzard w/ reduced cost
Magic Weapon w/ force weapon

Works well, sometimes i wish i had teleport but i like the mix of defense and offense of these skills

i should clarify: i have BoH, serenity, and blinding flash on my bar. i never find myself in the position of "oh !@$# i have to heal or bubble". because you can avoid the hard hits and position yourself away from the flames. if you stand in the fire, get hit by his charge, or get hooked and stunned, then.. you're gonna die in a2 because lots of mobs in a2 jumps at you, flies at you, shoots at you, and puts fire on the floor. so, learn how to survive without blowing defensive cooldowns as that will cause you to hit a serious wall in a2.

you're not going to face tank anything in a2, and its debatable whether or not you can do so even when 1.03 goes live. i can "tank" white mobs if they're in small groups, and i can "tank" elites if i can separate them from the pack... but for the most part i kite a few yards, cast earth ally, get off a few rotations of deadly reach, and repeat. i'm in motion for maybe 50% of the duration of the fight, unless i am fighting arcane/mortar/desecrator/plague/frozen, in which case i am in constant motion anyway.

i had a1 on farm for a while, but couldnt even get out of the canyon in a2 because my play style just wasnt right.

I must be the only monk who doesn't use an Ally skill or use the companions. Am I just making the game much harder for myself? I use this build:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#aZgkXQ!bUd!cYaaZa

I'll probably drop Mantra of Healing (which doesn't seem very effective with 27k HP), but I don't know how much longer I'll be playing (kind of bored with the game in Act 4 Hell).

ally skill is about preference, i have played fine without it but i prefer it now since a2 stuff is kind of a pain to fight against w/o it. i can certainly do it, it'd just be a lot tougher

fist of thunder is all about two things: fastest attack speed and the knockback on 3rd hit. getting rid of that knockback = more dmg done to you, because that knockback is a greater interrupter.

lashing tail kick is a greater skill and is useful if you are in a tank role in a group, as it helps u stay alive and is great for crowd control. i personally like the sweeping armada rune as it slows... and its pretty hilarious to send stuff flying across the screen

mantra of healing is pretty bad now, they nerfed it a whole lot. replace it with something else that will either help you kill faster or control crowds.

exalted soul passive is definitely not worth it, you will never use all your spirit. if you are, you're probably not dpsing with your spirit generator and therefore you're probably running for your life . guardian's path is ok if you have low dodge to begin with, but it loses effectiveness once u get better gear.

RMAH release is going to really drive down the price of $ / million imo

question is how to take advantage of the incoming devaluation of gold and what will become really inflated

I've noticed IAS/crit%/crit damage rings/amulets have had a noticeable elevation in AH pricing, but IAS will be receiving a nerf so I don't know what that will do to pricing

Yeah that makes sense. Obviously I try not to get caught by the large slow swings or the fire, but sometimes you can't help it. And I haven't "farmed" Act 1 yet, I just went through it once non-stop. And I did kill the butcher on the first try, if that means anything. Though I was close to dying once when I got caught with fire between me and the wall heal. What passives do you use?

Been playing my Wizard lately. Once you hit 47, I highly recommend this build that I made - you can basically cast Ray of Frost infinitely and get Blizzard taking up the whole screen while venom hydra melts everything. I'm considering switching out Magic Weapon for maybe Mirror Image for more "just in case" survivability, but Magic Weapon pumps up my damage so much that I clear things out pretty quickly and Diamond Skin/Ward works for keeping me alive.

I use seize, resolve, one with all. They scale with gear and my chosen skills and runes.

I stopped using transcendence as I found that spamming spirit skills cannot consistently keep me alive. Too much micro, what with dodging stuff, attacking at the right time, and making sure I have enough spirit and that I'm in the right position to attack. All my skills are low cost stuff, and I only spam mantra when I am ready to burn down an elite or boss.

Also, almost any build and play style works in act 1. As long as you stay aware you will probably stay alive. Act2 is a gear check and common sense check. A lot of people get one shot and don't realize that it is because they let themselves get hit by nasty projectiles or huge windup attacks. They're in the tank mentality. Monks don't tank, they hit and move.

Yeah that makes sense. Obviously I try not to get caught by the large slow swings or the fire, but sometimes you can't help it. And I haven't "farmed" Act 1 yet, I just went through it once non-stop. Anyone have any idea what a magic 31% MF ammy is worth? No other stats. There seem to be zero for sale on AH and the 30% MF ammy is around 200k on AH.

Confirms / 1.0.3 Additional Information:

• Auctions may now be canceled at any time.
How is it that Blizzard has learned nothing from WoW in this respect? I really expected the AH to be polished and complete. I expected that they would have studied what worked in WoW and what did not and copied that. Even it it is a different team doing D3 there is nothing stopping you from talking to the WoW guys. But it seems that nothing has been learned and we have to go though the entire learning curve again. I am dissapoint.

• Confirmed: Holy, Fire, Cold, etc are purely aesthetic, with the exception of Cold, which does slow mobs but has reduced damage.

IIRC in early beta elite mobs could have +resist (element) affix, but it caused problems so it was removed. At that time people questioned what elemental damage types did, and the answer was that at this time they were just visuals, but that we were still early in beta.

This is just more of D3 being incomplete. It is feeling more and more like they are a year or so away from a complete game, but released it anyway. There are just so many little things that got missed. Stuff like:

• Custom chat channels.
• Leaving a chat channel saves between joining and leaving game sessions.
• First time boss kills on difficulties higher then Normal will guarantee "first time loot".
• 'Lock Action Bar' toggle is being added.
• Gems, Health Potions and and Pages/Tomes may be changing in color to help them stand out. Really! This is an easy fix! Why won't this be in 1.0.3? Why is this needed at all? Who thought that gems and potions should look like trash items?
• Ability to Turn off the nameplates for white/grey items on the ground for high level characters. This was something they had to patch into D2! Why was this missed?
• Auto-Skip switch for in-game cutscenes. Really, any game you are expected to play more then once should have this!
• More "on hit" procs, specifically on legendaries to make them feel more, Legendary, with a higher proc %. I'm glad we are finally going to get this, but it really feels like something that should have been in from day 1

I'm not sure what people are going to be buying all that gold for. Once RMAH comes in most of the decent gear will be on it, so you won't need millions of gold to buy weapons on AH, you will instead spend $3.00 USD for it.

Interesting to read the dev reply about inferno difficulty and melee. Though I wonder why they seem to be happy with the "ranged can go class cannon" approach. What if ranged doesn't want to spend all their time ad a glass cannon.

This is what I'm concerned with when it comes to the RMAH. Anything decent will end up there.. D:

Although I am confident I could prosper from RMAH, I am also quite tentative to participate in case for some reason hacking becomes rampant and can figure out a way around Authenticators to say the least. I can live with losing In game gold, I would be more concerned if it infiltrated my paypal etc. I would assume many others are in the same boat as myself. So I bet the drop off in gear is not as bad as people would fear for gold auctions

it's going to be dependent on how well Blizzard creates gold sinks that players want to poor gold into

Blizzard is planning on increasing repairs costs 4-6x and going to try to make jewelcrafting/blacksmithing more attractive to invest in

there will still be players that prefer gold over RM and we'll see what the breakpoint is in quality of gear when RMAH is released

Blizzard definitely lost an opportunity to make money off of RMAH when $ / million was at some ridiculous value. can't believe the amount of RM some people are willing to pour into this game.

In preparation for the upcoming launch of the real-money auction house, we will be updating the Diablo® III Auction House Terms of Use and Battle.net®-Nutzungsbedingungen Battle.net®[/url] Terms of Use to cover some key changes related to the account-security measures required to use Battle.net Balance. Later today, the following updates will be made to the Terms of Use available on our website, and when the real-money auction house goes live, all players will be asked to re-read and accept these changes the next time they play Diablo III.

Battle.net Balance and Authenticator Update With the introduction of the real-money auction house, account security will become more important than ever. To help ensure that players have a positive experience when using the real-money auction house, we’ve made some adjustments to how players can use and access their Battle.net Balance.

Starting today, in order to use Battle.net Balance, players will be required to have a Battle.net Authenticator or Battle.net Mobile Authenticator attached to their Battle.net account. For clarity, this means you’ll need to have an Authenticator to add to your balance via Battle.net Account Management or to send the proceeds of your real-money auction house sales to your Battle.net Balance.

Please note that players who previously added Battle.net Balance to their account prior to this change will be able to use it to make eligible purchases on Battle.net and in the auction house without attaching an Authenticator. However, an Authenticator will be required to add to your balance in the future, as explained above.

While we understand that this may be an inconvenience for some players, we want to ensure that players feel confident when using Battle.net Balance to make auction house transactions.

You can learn more about the Battle.net Authenticator, Battle.net Mobile Authenticator, and other account security information by clicking here.
