So resists are the way to go? By trying to dumb down the game Blizzard has really botched things, forcing certain builds or gear to survive.

Anyway, I finally got through act 2 inferno yesterday. It's not too bad if you take things very slowly, I just hate that because it's not fun, more like a chore to finish for the sake of finishing. Belial was tough until I figured out a better technique, then it wasn't bad at all. I'm a wizard with about 60k hp and 45k dmg. Not sure what my resists are, not very high

while i do enjoy the game it does seem that blizz is doing everything they can to force you to farm elite packs or buy from the AH

at the rate they are going they are just going to remove drops and force you to simply buy everything with gold/money. korean MMO style

and then i cant afford anything on the AH to get to survive in insane.

after around 50hours.. i finally got to 1million gold. -- based on prices -- i need another 200 hours at my gold rate.


i got lucky and found a 700+dps weapon for 10,000 gold.. its just a blue item.. but i dont have time to just watch the AH for these deals...

if you change the filter to 50k there are a ton of 800-900 DPS weps there

also if you wanna try inferno out and think you can kinda sorta tank stuff (or at least distract mobs so i can safely shoot them) ill play with you, have 3 chars that can do it, the 2 most likely to be able to are prob the DH and Wiz, your monk is prob better then mine

Yes, that is so very very different from Diablo 2.

You guys are ahead of me. I got a 52 DH that just started hell. Since this thread is so long I didn't read the whole thing, but has anyone played with the secret unicorn level? I've gotten the cavern event in Act 2 Dalhgar Oasis to spawn once, and the liquid rainbow never dropped from a chest/mob/barrel/or the old man vendor for that event. Really frustrating. Finally, any DH advice? looks like all your DPS is substantially higher than mine. The little tab by my character shows about 3500. I crit for 5-13k. I"ve been trying to stack dex.

I think that if I didn't have friends playing, I would have already uninstalled the game. My heart's just not in it anymore after playing through 3 difficulty levels. I can "mostly" make it through Inferno Act I with my monk, but I have to kite elites and skip them if they have crazy affix combos. I just don't really find it much fun. Now I'm waiting on Torchlight 2.

many of us have done ponys, ive crafted up to the hell lvl staff, as for gathering the mats to make it it took about an hour to farm up the stuffm the oasis dude took the longest, i just ran it on normal with my DH + runspeed passive until i got it to spawn took 3 spawns before i got the drop, one in act 3 took 4 attempts, already had the shin and the mushroom took about 5

So I was reading through Flipboard and apparently there are a couple of videos of some chinaman duping items already, LOL. Blizzard shut down the Asia servers just so they can roll out a hotfix. Sorry for not posting direct link to story, but I'm sure it'll pop up if you google.

I got the staff, did whimseyshire once, then while farming inferno later, I apparently trashed the staff while clearing my inventory of random white gear. Spent another 4 hours or so farming up the mats again. That sucked. The piece in act two was the hardest for me to get. For some reasons that particular event seems to be a lot rarer, also, that zone is so damn big.

yeah i think the act 2 staff of herding item took the longest for me. it may have taken a couple hours. its a quick farm though, just reload and run for a few seconds and you're there. it was well worth it though, i have been farming inferno ponies and I think its the way to go for getting lots of good level 60 rare drops.

Sounds like you're doing it the hard way. The event always spawns in the same place. Start at the 'pathway to the oasis waypoint'. Run to the right, then run down the first chance you get. You'll run into a little water type area. If the event has spawned, there will be ghosts and the merchant on the left.

You can buy the plans for 1g from a merchant in the Bastion Keep.

Haven't done anything in particular for the staff yet, after 5 acts of play through have gotten 2 off the items and one of the pages that do nothing (known of yet). Not even sure how many total parts there are.

So far the later play thoughts are actually more fun (as they are more challenging).

My Monk got to Act 2 of Inferno before I threw in the towel. I promptly rolled a DH.

I figure my DH will be a better farmer and I can use those items towards my monk. I do enjoy the game. It was worth my money at the very least which is more than I can say for just about any game aside from some indy games.

Yeah, you definitely get your money's worth. I haven't looked lately, but I'm sure my $/hours played is well below $1/hr now. Much more economical than a $60 single player game that lasts 5-10 hours.

Yep, so just do normal. You'll have to upgrade it for each difficulty level that you've beaten. Nightmare is 200k upgrade and Hell is 500k. You buy the plan from a vendor - I always use the person near the "heart icon" in Bastion's Keep.

Here's what I can tell you from what I've seen.

You have the highest concentration of elites and or normal treasure boxes anywhere.

So I'd say it's probably worth it..

hell ponies is not worth farming unless you cant farm inferno ponies IMO. hell ponies is roughly equivalent to farming act 1 inferno, you wont find much that you can use there (provided your gear is decent level 60 gear) but you can get good gold there and some stuff to sell
