Oh for the love of.........I was on the zoltan kulle quest and had to get one more vial of his blood...I switched quests and did a few butcher runs today...then I went back and I have to start the quest over, which I expected...what I didn't is that it erased me having found any way point past the oasis. Fuck that.

I had that problem when playing hell. That quest is pretty long and once it got hard, people would drop out of my game and no one would join. I ended up soloing it to pass it.

Co-op is definitely harder. In inferno fields of misery, I run into elite packs with my team of randoms and we usually do okay. When they all go off to sell their gear at the merchant, I have found a few on my own and done very well - no deaths, just run them in circles over my traps. Of course my team is still in the game so the HP of the elites is for a 4-player game.

It's usually a huge mess in co-op and much harder to do with people running everywhere.

For $0.25/each when you can get one for 1500-ish gold on the GAH? Must try again...

I think hes talking about the GAH... I find it hard to believe anyone would pay 25 cents each for inferno materials...

mentioned that before, the randomization and way it tracks progress is anti quick playing to me.

my brother and i are absolutely blowing things up in nightmare - i'm a 51barb and he's a 49 monk in act4. man, this is what diablo is all about. can't wait to get to hell and then inferno where it'll get really interesting!!

it's always amazing how much a difference good gear makes. for a while i was stuck with ~80-90dps weapons, then i got to ~120, and now i'm at 170 (total 2500dps after strength bonuses) and wow. my barb went from suck to god.

and call of the ancients is freakin awesome. epic spell.

Normal, Nightmare and Hell with AH items are basically the same difficulty. At level 50 you could probably pick up a 1000 DPS weapon for 100k (lvl 60 2-hander with level requirement reduction).

Once you hit inferno its basically a vertical line in difficulty increment.

I've had the most fun so far when playing low level chars that i've saved gear for, great fun when they can at you in waves and you mow them down.

The fun and frustrating part about hadcore is when there literally exists no upgrade for you on the AH. You can actually find drops that improve your gear, or come into possession of some of the best items in the game.

You may be enjoying the game now but Inferno will make you want to uninstall - Hell is absolutely nothing compared to inferno.

any word when the notes for the next patch might come out?

If no one read it before:

An excellent post.

Expected public relation post, but appreciated nonetheless I guess.

I was scratching my head at that part however:
We are not satisfied with breaking launch records; we want people to continue playing and enjoying Blizzard games for a very long time.

They are not satisfied with breaking launch records... wait, what? Why wouldn't they? Does saying that make them look virtuous or something? There's nothing wrong in saying that you are satisfied with breaking launch records... no? I don't get why they tell us they don't but anyway, yeah... public relations, very politically-correct approach.

I think the mass loss of their own player base to nothing more than player burnout, is scaring them. Admitting that the GAH and RMAH are required for end game content is a tough one to make. Their work is cutout for them though. They know the problem and can formulate a solution. My hope is some new item slot that can equip special gear. Runes perhaps?

Okay.. The original discussion was about the RMAH, so ya, probably got mixed up along the way. You have to be retarded to buy crafting gear for the equivalent of 400k gold when you can get it for 1000 gold now.

So, the most expensive tome is for jewelcrafting now. Funny. Must be a supply thing since people don't farm Hell as much as Inferno Act 1. And damn both of the aforementioned items sell like got cakes on GAH. I throw on a few hundred Tome of Secrets and they sell within a few minutes.

Also, it seems like they gimped flawless square drop rates or gem drop rates in general over the past few weeks. Seems like I'm getting a lot less now.

I was stacking and going for a butcher run solo yesterday. Got NV stacked to 5 and went to town, had to take a b-room break. Came back a few minutes later, my session was disconnected. At this point I turned off the game. Not even worth stacking again to find endless piles of junk to peddle at the merchant. /rant

yeah, that's what happened to me in A2 sort of. I just had one piece of the zoltan kulle quest to go (vault of the assassin). I did a couple butcher runs, then went back tot he quest. I forgot it resets you. What I don't get is why it erases the way point I found. So now I'm stuck all the way back in the oasis. I have to go through the aqueducts, pull the levers, go through the hidden passage, get back to the wastelands or whatever it is, find the way point, and go through the two dungeons to find his blood. Honestly I think I'd rather quit the game at this point.

I think Blizzard's biggest error with this game was not accounting for the aging of the population that played D2. We make up a majority of the purchasers of D3 I'd bet, or at least close to it. How old were most of those people when they played D2? 13-25ish? Those same people are now 24-36, we want more in depth game play, and a more polished product. Instead we got Yahtzee: Diablo edition.

Waypoints are only saved after a quest is complete. That way if you wanted to go back to do a quest again after completetion later, you couldn't just waypoint your way to the end. But start at the end of the previous quest.

And maybe their target area wasn't the people who played D2 in their prime gaming days? Maybe their target was the CoD infested age group? Because that isn't true. I have seen so many people IRL on the forums, and on other forums that have never played D2, but played D3. And they actually have more complaints, because they don't like the carrot on the stick just play for loot games that RPG endgames normally are, and didn't realize it kept to a lot of the D2 forumula of always going to a higher difficulty.

I personally really enjoyed the game when I played it. I had more fun than D2 quite honestly. Though that is my opinion.

Only thing I really miss of D2 was its music, in the first act. LOVED it.

What is currently the best class for end-game (act 3/4 inferno)? I went all out on my last character (Demon Hunter) because I thought it would be my all time main and the best class, along with my best chance to actually beat inferno. It didn't work out though. Act 3 inferno made all my 31k life, 3k+ armor, and 750+ all resists seem completely worthless, like they didn't have any effect at all. So at the moment I'm trying to sell most of my DH equip.

From what I've seen Monks seem to be the hardest bunch to kill, perhaps they don't dish out as much damage as some other classes, but if they don't die, then it doesn't really matter how much damage they do, as long as it's not crazy low. Then again, I know nothing about the Monk class.

I digress. The question remains, what's the best end-game D3 class at the moment? I'm guessing it's Monk despite not knowing anything about the class, just based on what i've seen.

Selling my DH's equip may net me 30+ million gold, more around 40mill if I'm really lucky. I was thinking about investing that into a Monk. I don't want inferno to seem like a 13000ft un-scalable mountain (metaphors, yo!) any longer. Inferno act 3/4 haunts my dreams.

difference between D2 and D3 - in D2, you could finish the highest difficulty with gear you found off the floor. in D3, you can't even finish the first act of the highest difficulty unless you hit the AH or get extremely lucky with drops.

Apples and oranges. You can complete exactly as much of the game in D2 as you can in D3 with NPC-bought and dropped gear - Normal through Hell.

There is no real D2 analogue to D3 Inferno (DClone and Pandemonium excluded). If D2 had a 'secret super difficulty' people would have run into the same barriers (not accounting for the fact that skills were much more overpowered and D2 being much simpler to play), except it would be even more difficult to overcome because trading was such an arbitrary mess.

This has been my observation too .. even as a barb, I am happy when a monk shows up in A3/A4 Inferno. They don't DPS very much, but they can hold/aggro like a champ.
