Got all 3 keys, now just need the master plan or whatever from Act 4. Gonna see what the hell uber monsters/portals are all about. I usually play on MP5, should I fight the pair of uber bosses on MP5 or would that be crazy hard?

I think I may actually keep the Skorn...I was facerolling MP1, nothing was touching me. Critting for 250K now, may try A3 without MP

I have only done Rakkonoth and Ghom, which was on mp5. I did them with a DH friend. We wiped once then did them again and destroyed them easily. I would say to get someone with you and have some fun.

With all of my all res gear on, the boar companion, and perfectionist, I walk around with about 1000 all res

I've backed off of it though and am now building in more dmg at the expense of all res though.

I've killed 6-7 keymasters without a single drop. Sometimes I have 5 stacks and ~280 MF, others 1-2 stacks. Oh well.

1000 all res for a DH, or any ranged character is awesome. I hate all the glass cannons around that have like 60 all res and get one shot be every enemy. Sadly that's just how most people are, concerned only with their DPS numbers and nothing else.

yea you need 5 stacks or there's 0 chance of the key dropping. been farming yesterday and all day today and only got 2 keys so far ugh, i read you should get 3 sets of keys and fight at one time back to back to back to guarantee all 3 diff machine portals are opened.

FINALLY Got a legendary! Not great, but may build a monk and use it. F'ing finally.

Also, rings & amulets have started to come down some, I had put the same criteria in for a search everyday for the past couple weeks, never saw one that fit below 1.5M, put it in today and there were several below 500K.

Holy crap! 2nd legendary of the day...is this worth anything??

Before you read this, please understand it is not a complaint, just an observation. I'm not attached to the game enough to be bitching about it. This is also probably beating a dead horse so I apologize in advance.

I mentioned earlier in this thread that I was only going to run my character through with gear that I found, crafted or vendored myself to see how far I could get and it looks like Hell will be the end of my journey for this particular character. It's too big of a jump for me to get into inferno and actually survive without AH bought gear. I guess I just haven't been lucky enough with my drops, or I'm just not skilled enough. I've tried a few different builds with no luck.

Then I started thinking, is Inferno considered a "bonus" part of the game? I'm aware that this is the part of the game when you start getting interesting gear and it seems that Blizzard is adding quite a bit of new content to keep people playing in inferno. Why then is it almost impossible to get adequately geared to even play it without basically buying your gear from someone else who has obtained it?

Then I read this quote from Bashiok from a while back:

In Diablo II gear was randomized and so absolutely ridiculously rare that you could almost be guaranteed to never find the exact item you were looking for just by farming for it yourself. To be the best you had to trade items with others, as you might find an extremely rare item, they may be willing to trade for yours.

I have started MANY fresh characters in Diablo 2 in many ladder seasons and been able to level them from 1-90+ and defeat hell without any problems. I never once traded with anyone and I was always able to find the gear I needed to continue. It was challenging, but nowhere near impossible. It's part of what I loved about the game. If you are persistent you get to move on. Also, notice how he mentions "to be the best", but in DIII many people can't even survive in inferno to get the gear they need to survive in inferno. That's a lot different than wanting to be the best.

The article goes on to explain that you can farm the gear in Hell act IV for inferno, but I haven't had much luck with that. Maybe I just need to farm a lot more. The sad part is that if I look on the AH, I can basically get myself geared for a very little amount of time looking and gold spent. I don't know, it feels cheap, almost like cheating.

So I'm either missing something about how to play this game, or it has changed to a game where you collect gold and buy items from the auction house or trade in game. For now, my barb will just sit and wait to see if future patches change anything, and I'll start another character where I buy all of their equipment from the AH when I get to inferno and see if I enjoy that more.

Oh, and just a quick question, I'm not fully familiar with the Paragon system and MP, if just keep running hell and increasing the MP to 10, and let my paragon level up, the Magic find bonuses will apply in Hell also right? If that is the case, I might be fine getting the gear I need if I just stick with it. I'm hoping that is how it works, because I'll just farm hell until I'm set for inferno.

Damn... You got a socket with 182 Crit% ontop. Very nice roll. I found a 1300-ish dps 2 hander yesterday unique with no socket, which made it trash.

Did my first Infernal Machine and all I got was another Vile Ward. This is my third... First one I sold for 50 million gold, second for 5, and going to keep my third since it actually has dex and vit on it.

So, the Infernal Machine more or less forces you to play the first 3 acts. Unfortunately it menas you don't play with 5 stack NV most of the time, which screws you if you focus on farming keys.

edit - yes that's me with MF gear on; I have technically "better" gear, but farming with this and the "better" gear is about the same as each other and I just do MP1 in A1 or A3 MP0.

Your boots, helm, chest, jewelry and pants in that order . 12%+ run speed is absolutely mandatory and you should upgrade your boots first since it's easiest to get there. You can get vastly better replacements for those pieces with 40mil especially if you watch the AH for a few days. You can also try for life steal on the belt if you can find one for cheap with similar stats.

Choose the last subquest of the last quest in Act 3 for the boss. You can do the boss, but it will also give you access to all the waypoints. The entire act is very monster dense, but Arreat Craters 1 and 2, Core of Arreat are the best. Also, all three levels of the Keep may even be better than Arreat.

WoW, I have exactly the same issue. It's so weird, I even called comcast to come over. It was good before the patch.

Anyone having lag problem on the NA servers? I can't even farm because I can't live against any elite packs because I lag too much do enough damage to sustain my health. I am pure dps monk and rely on health globes to live.

Did you completely download thw patch? If you didn't the lag is from that. You have to let it completely download before playing.

Mine has been at 80% since patch day because I keep forgetting to let it run fully. I found it's very laggy because microsoft security essentials is going nuts when I play. I figured it might be scanning the background download with it's realtime scanner, so I just disable that while I'm playing for now, and then the lag and slow gameplay goes away. Without Diablo open, MSE is quiet.

I have to remember to let it download it fully, I always just shut down the laptop and forget about it until I load up diablo the next day.

Yea i noticed huge lags and such when I didn't get it completely download. It's worth the 15 minutes to let it completely download to save you from the aggravation.

My first ring was beyond awful. I have 2 extra organs, so hopefully I will have another roll soon. I couldn't seem to get another group of people to do uber runs yesterday, so I ended up farming a bunch of keys at mp5.

I'm pretty sure I have enough keys to make 5 or so machines now, would have to double check. It really feels like a waste to do them by yourself though. Running with 2-3 people who each have their own machine is definitely the way to go.

If anyone has a machine and wants to clear ubers tonight and is capable of doing them on at least mp5, let me know - Dauntless#1820

Yep, been getting a lot of lag spikes (and deaths) lately. Yesterday, Sunday, was pretty good with minimal spikes. Saturday was a complete effing nightmare though with spikes every few minutes.

So you have to assemble the ring with parts? Completely forgot about that and will have to look into it.

Also, seems like Keys are not dropping as often anymore. I didn't get a single key after 10 or so Act 2 and 3 runs at low MP levels. I've done one Infernal Machine, and the first time was definitely easier.
