I'm also looking for a few more people for my friends list. I've got quite a few lower level characters to level up, as well as a 60(11) Monk that has 90K paper DPS. I can survive just about everything except for Ubers in MP5 at the moment (I need more vit ><).

how is that even possible? I have 500 hours on this game and have found I think 3 legendaries total.

Pretty much. I joined a game really quickly and found one in about 5 minutes. I then joined an AT crew and got 4 more in another 30 minute run, but all of them dropped in the first 10 minutes. It was crazy.

I think it was 3 legendaries and 2 set items.

I was doing act 1 inferno MP6. Usually we go festering woods, then weeping hollow, then fields of misery. We sometimes do leoric's hunting grounds after that, and then sometimes we do the full halls of agony to get the warden and butcher.

I was testing out a rapid fire build at the time. I don't know what my MF was at the time, but it was MP6, with a group of 4, a little bit of MF gear (I don't purposely try to find it... if there is MF on some DPS gear, great), and I'm paragon 71 or something now. Whatever that all adds up to.

Anybody else getting a lot of repeat Legendary drops? The only set item I've ever got was the witch doctor knife, and I got it three times. I don't have that many Legendaries, but I'm getting a lot of repeats.

Yeah that's to be expected.

I don't think I've ever had a single calamity drop for me, but I've had quite a few danetta's spite and revenges. Then there's the stupid frostburn gauntlets...

Right now? Lol, try: since beta. All the way until now. If you look at diabloprogress 70% of the top 1000 that are PL100 are barbies and those are in order in which they hit 100.

Barbs were pretty mediocre in early inferno; though it was pretty commonly believed they would really shine with gear (surprise: they do). For a few months after release it was all about incredi-DPS DHs while barbs nickle and dimed elites to death with a String of Ears, Helm of Command, Justice Lantern and shield

Yeah that's true. I remember that the melee classes were pretty bad once you got to inferno and they buffed them all to compensate. Before that it was all about ranged classes and kiting.

Of course, inferno was a lot harder back then too.

curious to see how d3 runs on haswell-u 17w

apparently it runs well on hd4000, but at the expense of heat/fan noise

I played for a couple days on an hd3000, and with everything turned to low @ 1920x1080 it ran decent. If I got into a group though, it slowed down a lot. Especially, if it was a high AoE damage class, like CM Wiz.


As far as Inferno Difficulty, I don't think it is that much easier. Besides the obvious nerfs like Invulnerable Minions and elite packs of the exploding mobs in Act 3, nothing really stands out. The problem is that as a whole, we completely outgear all content. Remember when you first hit 60 and went into Inferno? You got rocked, hard. Now days, that doesn't happen because you go on the AH and buy some cheap gear and you outgear MP1 instantly.

When I first beat Inferno on my monk, I had like 4k dps 900 AR and like 1500 LoH. It was extremely painful and slow.

4k? Man that sounds low for even then; I remember I lost to Butchers 'rage timer' (the floor eventually perma fires (fired?) iirc) a couple times before I got my barb to like 7k-8k dps. Though at the time my offense was basically Frenzy/Revenge and Wrath so effective DPS probably was not on my side.

But yeah, I definitely agree. Inferno hasn't changed all that drastically, but a year later the 'rising tide' has raised all boats significantly. Gearing out my barb back then I was happy with 40 AR / 80 Str / 80 Vit gear, now I look for just about twice that as a bare minimum lol and I salvage stuff better than that 40/80/80 on the regular. Improved legendaries have heightened the player power ceiling substantially; the stat budgets on items like Ice Climbers and Mempo is pretty obscene.

Honestly I get that people want legendaries to be good but I think the ones that put important offensive stats in slots you cant normally obtain them (Lacunis, Inna pants, Mempo) are just too much. I miss having more choice there, but without absolutely obscene str/dex/int rolls, rares just can't keep up really and even then aspd leading to more procs per minute is hard to account for/beat.

I hit the Butcher's enrage timer and just stood next to the health well thing. I could survive long enough between the well cooldowns and finally got him.

Mempos are going to be best in slot for awhile, but with only one random roll and needing it to be crit, they won't saturate the market. Lacuni's are only best in slot for some classes. Monks have no real need for them at a 250+ dex, vit, 6% crit bracer slots. I guess things like trifecta Nat's ring with the 2 piece will be extremely hard to beat though.

I can't wait to get to Inferno. I'm currently on Hell MP10, soloing this shit with little to no challenge. I'm on my Barb, level 58, using Cleave+Rupture and Rend, WotB, Revenge, Earthquake and Furious Charge...29k paper DPS and 35k HP.

Some Elites give me a challenge, especially the exploding ones, but anything else is a piece of cake.

I even down the Skeleton King in under 20sec for the achievement on Hell MP10 lol. Sure it's not the baddest boss but I thought it would be harder.

Starting Act 2 tonight.

Ohhh and only 1 legendary item dropped when I was on Nightmare...a shitty 1H spear...

I get the feeling the only way i'll upgrade my gear is through the AH, and that sir, I find it sad.

You can find upgrades once you hit Inferno. The problem is most upgrades will come from iLevel 61+ gear at this point, and that is hard to find outside of Inferno. Once you hit Inferno, try it at MP1 so you get the monster level bonus (they are all 63 instead of 61,62, then 63).

Ok so MP1 should do the trick, thanks. Do you think MP2+ can be done solo too? Must mostly depend on gear though.

Any MP can be done solo. I do MP10 solo on my barb and wizard. I could do it on my monk, but it just takes way too long. Starting off, I'd do MP1 because you will be very undergeared. If you choose not to use the AH, you probably won't be efficient in higher MPs for quite awhile.

It's RNG. And better yet, it's Blizzard's RNG. Meaning, it'll drop it like it's hawt then never again until the threshold of uncanny resemblance and dismay has been reached.

You'll really hate me here though. I had 12 legendaries in 1 run of 35 minutes. Granted, the 3 runs prior only netted me 2 all together. And only 1 was worth keeping. The other 11 were brimstones (yay for amulet lottery!).

G'lord, 900 AR? I tried pretty hard to get 780 AR on my monk and I thought that was overkill. Diminishing returns really creep in around 720...I can't imagine how little the +180 AR netted you, lol. Or was that including Mantra of Healing / Time of Need?

Basically all my gear had Dex / Vit / AR / Lightning Resist so it stacked pretty easily. And this was before the armor nerf to monks too, so I had quite a bit of armor. But I had no crit or crit hit damage, or attack speed.

I was able to get near 1000 AR on my DH. I used the IK helm and gloves, the boar companion, and perfectionist which all give boosts to your AR. It was great running with a barb who cast war cry and I'd be up over 1200 AR.

I got rid of a lot of that gear for more DPS though.

You used to have to stack AR very high. I still have the gear to get my monk above 1200 AR. Now though this is just a boring DPS stacking game. There's extremely little balance between offense and defense in D3. Just get higher DPS and life-steal and you're good to go.

glass cannon approach will not get you very far at higher mp levels. dying over and over again means you spend a lot of time running back and forth

You clearly haven't played at the harder difficulties. Even with 1,000,000 dps and 50% Life Steal (which you only get 15% of in Inferno IIRC), if you only have 25k health and zero damage mitigation, you are getting 1 shot by everything.

Defensive stats are desired in every build that I know of. There is a reason armor + AR Tal Rasha's chests are so expensive, and it isn't because of DPS.
