I think I do, and don't care to share the information you ask.

I'll take that as a no. An ATM and a PC game are completely fundamentally different systems. A PC game has an exponentially great number of user scenario paths they can follow, not to mention an incredibly greater number of functions going on.

Suggesting that every single slightly varied user paths be taken would take thousands of man hours to test. Users, however, do take these paths; most of the time it is unintentional. (Example would be, you start to craft a gem using materials from your pack, drop them mid craft then pick them back up before the craft finishes) What should happen and how should it happen? What if you pick up a different pile of materials? What if you close your client? What if someone else picks up the materials?

Dupes actually cause deflation; you're taking a scarce resource and making it more plentiful. That's why so many people believe drop rates in D2 are actually far higher than they truly are.

And what profit? It's the GAH.

I hit PL 75 today.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Adrenaline-1529/hero/827386

I can solo Ubers on mp10 and have carried 2 people on mp10 as well. I have been running a lot of Act 2 lately on mp10 for experience and farming for fun. Feel free to add me, Adrenaline #1529.

I tend to be on WoW, if not on D3.

I am not sure if I have you added or not, but I will try tonight when I get home. I've been not playing anything the past month or so save for a game or two of Dota. I am going to go back to D3 now that I've caught up (started and finished in a few cases) on the TV shows I wanted to watch.

Congrats! Onto more hours of farming or prioritizing another character?

After I hit paragon 100 this past weekend, I've only been playing sparingly the past five nights. Just a couple of act 1 farm runs on mp10 with my WD, and playing my cm wiz in vaults to get more demonic essences in hopes of crafting an amulet upgrade (RNG is not in my favor on that).

Although I'll preface this by apologizing for being a noob, I was hoping to get back into D3 after having stopped playing for over a year. Moreover, I was hardly an expert with the game while playing it so there is a great deal about the game with which I unfamiliar.

The following is my toon: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Aristides-1704/hero/3783425

I just bought the amulet today -- as I still had $3 associated with my account and used it buy gold since the price dollar value of gold seems to have dropped precipitously since I last played -- but the rest of my gear is all older stuff.

Although plan on doing some reading as to good builds and the like, was wondering what stats or attributes I should look for in gear. I think I recall reading somewhere that boosts to movement speed and APM were important but am unsure whether that is still important. Are there any hard-and-fast rules I can use to determine the value of items on the AH or will that only come through using it over an extended period of time?

As well, I am generally unfamiliar with loot-based aRPGs so was wondering if there was an optimal way to do loot runs? Should I just focus on progressing through the main areas or would it behoove me to explore the additional areas (caves, cellars and the like)?

Again, I apologize for the elementary questions. Thanks, in advance, for any insight or info you all might be able to provide.

Regards,

I can't see you link at work, so would you mind telling me your class please? A lot of use can help a great deal on what you should build for. That $3 you spent on gold will be a huge start. There are builds that used to be called Big Mac builds, because they cost around the price of a Big Mac (if you converted gold into money @ $0.25 per million). Now, however, that costs you around a quarter. All classes will want Movement speed and the cheapest place to get it is on your boots. The cap is 24% (item cap), so you have to find the other 12% on other items, and depending on class and budget, this gets either harder or easier.

As far as farming, if you haven't already, I'd suggest doing a run through completely just to unlock all the way points (and get the achievements if that is something you're after). There are farm routes (and leveling routes for paragon, which is what I suggest). The thing about D3, and a lot ARPGS in general, is that loot isn't monster specific. Eventually, some of the items will have a greater chance of dropping on certain mobs (The Butcher will have a greater chance to drop The Butcher's Sickle for example), but currently, any mob can drop any level appropriate item. So, if you do a farming route (which are all based on highest monster density) you will be killing a lot of mobs, and getting a lot of loot. The key to farming is mobs per hour. The higher that number, the more items you will see drop. As far as quality, it is still all RNG, but having more lotto tickets, gives you a better chance of winning the jackpot right?

He's an L58 wizard.

Just grind out those next 2 levels so you get access to all the cool gear. I'm not a wizard so I don't know for sure, but a decent way to go is get the chantodo's will and chantodo's force set.

If you can get some more gold, you can craft some good shoulders / bracers / gloves quite easily as you can buy the plans from the AH for next to nothing.

Just hit 60 on my Wizard and am going to wait to start Inferno until I have some time to read over build guides and buy some improved gear (once I have better idea as to the stats/attributes I should be prioritizing).

As I started playing again, had two quick question concerning vendoring gear:

1) Given how many drops I pick up over the course of playing, is it alright to simply rely on the 3 stats that pop-up in the comparison window (Life, Dmg & Protection) when determining whether a particular piece of gear is superior or inferior to my current gear?

2) Are blues, and perhaps even yellows -- just vendor trash or should I inspect each piece before selling?

Thanks again for you all your help.

Regards,

Regards,
I appreciate the advice provided so far.

Blues are vendor trash. Actually, they're not even worth picking up.

Yellows are for the vendor the vast majority of the time.

With $3 worth of gold you can buy some cheap legendaries / set items that will let you not even really have to worry too much about drops.

You can generally rely on the three stats, unless you are replacing a set or legendary item as those may have other bonuses.

For all classes you want:

primary stat (intelligence in your case)
vitality
crit chance
crit damage
attack speed

all resistance and armor are good too.

If you see something with a lot of strength (like your main weapon) you know it's probably not very good because those are stat slots that could have been used on one of those 5 from the above list.

Honestly, I'm probably not going to play again until the loot patch comes out. I start school next month and have a huge backlog of games on steam to play, lol.

I hear that! I haven't really just quit, but I only login when friends are requesting some vortex action (it's amazing how even after 600 hours of doing it, I still love it!).

Too many other games on the docket!

I actually avoided the Steam summer sale on purpose. >.<

Check out my profile for some decent starter wizard gear, most of my pieces I bought for about 50k-1m on the AH a few months ago, most pieces are probably cheaper now. I love Archon, I can steam roll mp3/4 pretty quickly solo. You can ignore my slow time, I forgot what I had in there before, but I switched it in just for an MP10 key run to help the dps.

If you can swing it, I'd use Storm Armor over Energy Armor for some extra damage.

Jump in those MP7-10 games (depending on your survivability and DPS) for A1 monster slaying. It'll go quick-like and you won't even notice.

I try those out some times. I have been doing a lot of act 1 runs for just clearing zones and have been getting a bunch of legendaries, none worth a crap really except some Nat;s boots that got me 15 million, but they are dropping.

I found a 1H crossbow with 940 damage and level req of 44, so I threw it on the AH for 25 million. I want to see if it sells for that much lol.

Nice, it probably will. The level reduced affix adds a lot of value; especially if it's beyond 15 levels.

I used to but I would die a couple times a game with storm armor on certain affixes, with energy armor I haven't died on MP3/4 yet so even though I kill somewhat slower never dying saves me time. If I could find a decent life on hit piece (ammy/ring) I think I could get rid of energy armor np.

Blackthrone's Pants is what I roll, but I am a CM wiz. My amulet was super expensive trifecta with LoH though. =(

But yeah, not dying should take priority over extra damage. Maybe try a Skorn with LS (those are pretty good for Archon I believe).

I also run summon familiar for the small amount of extra damage I get as well.

^I can't offer anything for that. I know nothing about WDs except when they are in my groups, they are great. >_>
