I was watching some monk play last night and might actually give this a try. I am still disappointed with the loot, but PoE has gotten a bit stale for me. I am sure my characters are wrecked though (my monk might not be too bad). So long 400k barb! =(

Oh, have the revamped the cost of crafting / gems? I can tell you this, nobody will be able to afford a 100 million gold gem without the AH. At least, people who didn't have gold before this patch.

yes they will.. Chinese farmers are rejoicing at the fact that AH is going down. Their main competition, lol.

Goodbye because they are nerfing the build that is just face to keyboard repeatedly and win no more. =(

Also, my 270k DPS CM Wiz is also nerf batted, or so I've been told.

• Killing an enemy grants a shield that absorbs 2477 damage for 3 seconds. This effect can stack up to 10 times. Refreshing Dominance will set the shield to its maximum possible potency and each stack will increase its total duration by 0.5 seconds

I think it's unlimited Paragon now? My WD is like 176. I haven't played in months.

Yeah, unlimited with a small catch. The bonuses on tabs 2,3,4 have a max of 50 points you can allocate to each I think. So at lv800 you'd have everything maxed on those tabs. After 800, all additional points go into your primary stats tab, which is truly unlimited.

No need to wait to assign the points. You can click a button on the paragon level window to reset your points at any time with no associated cost except having to re-click where you want the points spent.

I think I'll reinstall and try playing my wizard again. CM was kind of cheesy and boring, so part of me is glad they nerfed it and made other builds more attractive.

CM was just great for team play, as it had perma lockdown. You didn't have to play as CM or even with a CM wiz if you didn't want to. Nerfing things easily avoidable is a pretty ridiculous train of though. But, that is Diablo 3 players... "Oh, barbs are better than me! Nerf them whaaaaa!"

It's kinda crazy to see Critical Mass go for Wizards. However, the itemization actually sounds like you can plan to synergize builds by finding +elemental damage or +skill damage. I mean, that sounds exciting, and the primary rolls versus secondary rolls is very nice. Items will no longer have important bonuses compete with the merely helpful ones, like an attribute versus gold find. I really dig that.

I may actually reinstall D3. I'm shocked to think that, lol.

I get your point, but my personal preference is for devs to actively track the game and tweak skills and builds. I like the fact that they try to make multiple builds equally viable and reign back builds that are overpowered.

IMO, one of the negatives of having overpowered builds is that it creates an expectation in others that you play that build. Like, you're screwing over your teammates a little bit by experimenting and trying something less ideal. Or people think you're an idiot for trying less viable builds.

It's not as huge a deal in D3 as it was in a game like WoW, where you're basically screwing over your guild if you're not playing the optimum tank/healer/dps build, but you still run into situations where you join a game and people leave because you're not cruising through mobs like a CM wizard would. I definitely had an easier time finding long-run full-party games playing CM, because people don't want to leave when you're just dominating mobs quickly.

Edit: Also, disparity between classes is even worse than disparity between class builds. It totally sucks to max level a character, only to realize, "oops, sorry your class is the worst in the game, nobody wants to play with you." I remember very early on in WoW, there were a few classes that didn't really bring anything to the table for parties until other classes got nerfed and they got buffed (rogues, i think were underpowered for awhile).

My WD was already well geared prior to the patch (about 250k dps and about 500k ehp) so I haven't found many upgrades but it is interesting to have most of the rares and legends dropped be Int based. The game is visually much smoother fps wise, even when elites are spamming abilities, and it's nice to have multiple options for builds. Slightly annoyed that my quest progress was reset though and I have to play through the acts again.

I had some spare bnet balance kicking around so I had pre ordered RoS anyway, but the patch seems like a good start.

I was playing with the new skill calculator and looking at wizard. A new, awesome play style could be to use Blackhole, Slow Time/Frost Nova, and Disintegrate with the Volatility rune. Gather a bunch of trash mobs around elites, drop Blackhole, Slow Time, and use Volatility to detonate the trash mobs on the elites. Sounds exciting!

Actually I think after the patch Legendary and Set items are bind on account, so they can't be traded.

Kind of sucks. I never minded the AH, real money or otherwise. IMO they went too far in the other direction by totally eliminating the market for trades, etc. But whatever, I understand their reasoning.

That doesn't answer my original question though. Have gems and crafting been tweaked to use less gold? Even if I purchased 3 of the highest non BOA gems, it still costs 20 million gold to craft the Marquise gem. I have a ton of time in this game and haven't picked up 20 million gold.

I picked up over 100 million.

You can get the next to last tier gem and use it. Yeah, third party sites will still run the economy.

My Barb does not run fast, ww fast and generate fury fast. I never really cared about perma wrath.

According to the patch notes, Blizzard ruined this game for me. Best of luck to you all.

I was using diamond skin, dominance, and several items with life on hit. Compared to pre-patch, dieing was about a .0000000000000000000000000543% concern.

I can check in a couple of hours when I get home if nobody else does. I just upgraded my jeweler in hardcore but I never was using the highest tier so I didn't notice the prices.

Someone brought up gem costs with crafting and how expensive it will be. The AH is still going though right?
