Same here

Same here. To be honest, I don't really understand the complaints being made. I'm glad that the game will be more focused on playing the game than manipulating and watching the AH like a day trader: better drop rates make up for that. The only thing, from a macro-play perspective, that has been ruined is the ability of people to easily make money by selling gold to people (for real money) who would then have to use that gold to buy items on an AH where the items were sourced by the same people able to farm loads of gold (and items). It was a manipulative circle that was based on the difficulty for newer players to farm their own items.

Those players should have been able to do so in the first place.

That bold sentence sums up what I think of games in general and i'm glad D3 took the same approach finally.

I've played between 6 and 10 hours so far on the new patch... Here are my thoughts...
1. The paragon system is pretty cool now. It's nice to have some slight attachment to my character...
2. Lootsplosions are pretty much gone. This is disappointing, but acceptable. Weird to play a loot based game with so little loot!
3. The 4-2 system isn't bad but it makes legacy level 60 gear non-upgradeable...
4. Bind on Account is a poor choice for legendaries and should be removed. I can no longer help my friends out if I find something while soloing...

RoS is a series of very strange choices for Blizzard. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Ot sure why you're complaining about having too much gold, not like these changes haven't been known. Better hit up the ah while you still can.

There's really nothing worth buying, lol. Maybe essences. Also, when will breaking down stuff give us the mat to craft ammys, and I hope or wish they would allow purchasing of mats from the vendor or something. That would be cool. Gives us folks with gold something to do with it at least.

Yeah, I agree with you and the others who said this...in fact it was the only thing while reading the patch notes, before playing, that stood out and made me think "huh?". Blizz is going from 1 extreme to the other...instead of having to buy all your gear, you now have to find all your gear (Rares excluded of course, but we all want uber legendaries/sets anyways). And if you find something good that you don't want...oh well, screw it. It's still a lot better IMO than what it was, but it's an odd decision.

I'm not 100% decided whether I'll buy the expansion, but this patch has at least moved it from "not at all interested" to "pretty interested". I'm gonna wait for comments/vids/etc after release, because so many big-named sequels/expansions I've bought in the last 5yrs or so have sucked.

Though if they'd had a 2nd new class lined up, I'd probably have ignored the rest of my doubts and pre-ordered lol. To me, 2 new classes with which to play through the game + the other new content would be a no-brainer for the question of "will I get my money's worth?"

Yeah, I pre-ordered it. I'll enjoy it for 50-60 hours or so. But for me Path of Exile is a far superior game so that will be receiving most of my attention.

D3 should have been so much more than it has become.

As someone who dearly loved Diablo II but never picked up Diablo III given its terrible launch, I'm now on the fence about giving it a try due to the major patch and upcoming expansion.

I've read through the 4 or 5 most recent pages of this post, but I guess I'll ask the question: Has this game redeemed itself to the point where its actually fun and offers significant longevity?

You're not going to get a reliable answer regarding longevity 2 days after such a drastic patch (and with AH set to close soon). Trust me, its drastic. People's opinions seem favorable though.

It was fun right out of the gate, and I don't regret the purchase even though I quit. It just sucked for replayability.

I think I've found a good farm route (simply running Cathedral 4 over and over). If anyone wants to do T4 or so, let me know. I found a decent Frozen Orb build. Thankfully, all that APOC still works and my Chondos Force had increased crit change of Frozen Orb!!

Just add me ewok#1399

I'm I the only one who thinks the graphics got even more cartoony with this patch? The field of view also seems wider, but it's been a long time since I've played so maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

I played for half an hour, I think I was over-leveled for Master difficulty, but I found a few sidegrade items that would be usable. I was really excited to try the new patch after hearing positive reviews, but after playing a little, I'm still probably going to pass on the expansion. Increased frequency of usable loot might make the game less frustrating, but there's still not much interesting to do. I think eliminating the traditional skill point system has seriously damaged the replay value, especially now that the motivation to farm in order to make money on the AH is gone.

The changes I am hearing have perked my interest towards this game, hoping for some valuable input in the coming days.

The guy talking is clueless about Diablo. The first sentence let me know this:

"As the lead content designer on Diablo III, Kevin Martens has learned a lot over the past two years. "

I am sorry you did not have two critically acclaimed games to look back on and see how to improve upon them.... oh wait, you did.

It took a lot of beating out of the gate because the storyline was awful (Cain died and ruined the game for people I know. Oh, he was killed by a crappy fairy), inferno was just "doubled" and gear needed to progress was only obtainable by a few classes.

Diablo 3 should not require an internet connection all the time. It should be able to be played offline. (I would still have only played it online personally.)

The AH (RM / gold) was one of the best things to come to D3. The messed up part was basing loot around the AH instead of basing the AH around the loot. They got it backwards and messed up the economy themself. I hated in Diablo 2 using the trade channel for a long time trying to find something I wanted from a person and hope they wanted what I had. It is why cash is a currency instead of arts and crafts you can make.

They listened to fan feedback about loot, unfortunately it took two years to get it about right. Loot itemization was the massive flaw in this game (centered around the AH). They FINALLY started to address it in a good way, but BoA is awful for this game....

Randomness was one of the key things about Diablo, and they ruined that to get a natural RPG feel to the game. No, just no.

Yeah, I stopped reading after that.

Blizzard needs someone to just come out and say something like this:

We made a game we thought was good, but the game is not deserving of a Diablo name whatsoever. With the release of the expansion we expect this game to thrive and become much better as time goes on.

They could have called this game anything other than Diablo and it would have not have received the flack it did.

I had a level 100 paragon Barb (114 on my account now) and played this game a lot as I enjoyed this game as a game and saw the lack of "Diablo" in the game.

From what I did see in the hour I tried my Barb out, I liked the new layout and loot drops. They have made some improvements. I feel they neutered the Barb, the reason I bought D3 was to WW everything to death fast and efficient. I did not mind perma wrath, but I could see the need for change. Slowing the Barb down to where it is so slow to kill now is ridiculous. Fury generation is awful. I may try my Monk. I have no desire to play my Wizard, Witch Doctor or Demon Hunter.

^ Absolutely agreed.

The only critical note I'd like to add that seems to be completely ignored is the fact that Blizzard held off on updating D3 for several months prior to now. Why? To make sure that they got the most interest for playing the expansion and therefor get the most revenue. Pisses me off to no end.

Make me pay twice for a broken game? I think not.

100% legendary drop from the Skeleton King.

Start the Skeleton King, kill him and get a guaranteed legendary drop. Leave game reset the quest and do again then get another legendary.

Blizzard will be hot fixing it soon.

So I've never played this game, but I'm considering giving it a go with this new patch. I typically play LOTRO, but a lot of my friends haven't been on lately so I'm looking for something different to play. Anyone suggest a fun first class?

I really like the changes so far, now [for me] Diablo III is definitely a fun game, period.

With this said, however, I'm experiencing missing sounds issues and it's definitely new with 2.0.1 because I know that I never had such problems prior to the patch. What happens is the more things happen at once on-screen, the more skills are used, the more players are present, the more monsters show up then the more sounds play... and that's when sounds start skipping, some sounds literally cut for half a second and resume, it's annoying. I've tried to change the in-game sounds options but to no avail, the problem remains the same and it persist regardless.

Is anyone else getting the same thing? There's a sticky thread over at the official Battle.net D3 Bug Report forums with 'Known Issues', but the sounds-related issues I have are not listed (yet).

Other than that, yeah, I really like the changes and I can honestly say that I am hyped (to some degree) for Reaper of Souls, and I won't wait for the price to go down, it's going to be a day one purchase for me, the first day one purchase of any game since Mass Effect 3. You did a fine job, Blizzard (although forcing Account Bond on Legends and Set items is quite a questionable decision).

I've reinstalled the game after a few months of not touching it. To my surprise I got some nice, useful loot from mobs.

One question though, my DH finished Normal diff, killed Diablo...now at the main menu, do I need to manually select a higher difficulty? Since there's no Normal-Nightmare-Hell anymore, I'm not sure.

Yup, gotta pick hard, expert, master, torment. Torment has a slider 1-6 as well.

Previously most of the classes had extreme issues with survivability. This isn't an issue now with the revision so just start them all and go through skeleton king then continue on the one you like most.

I found a lv60 Leoric's Signet that isn't half bad. I like how the lower level legendaries can roll as level 60 items.

Though I found a new sunkeeper with zero MF, and a friend found a level 60 nagelring that had MF on it. I'm not sure what their MF logic is.
