I'm glad you said something about the Hallowed Defenders recipe. I was told by a friend that I should get it (instead of the socketed and top-tiered Fist of Azturasq and socketed and top-tiered Echoing Fury with life steal). They also told me the biggest upgrade right now will be to craft some bracers (instead of upper tier Lacuni's I have on). While I value their input, it doesn't coincide with how I like to play (focusing on fast attacks and lots of active abilities on my monk).

From the 500 or so crafted items I've made after the changes, I haven't seen much upgrading. I've noticed a typical set scheme that follows with the "random properties", and it's not very random. Trifecta rolls can't possibly exist any more, for one. You can't really roll all of the useful stats that you actually want and are forced to have a secondary stat: health globes, pickup radius, a single resist, bonus experience, bonus gold, or damage to attackers. I've seen more loss in DPS, and massive gains in Toughness (primarily hits, and bloated Toughness from having All Resist instead of a single Resist because Toughness doesn't know how to calculate for One With Everything). Also, DPS never did, and still doesn't, know how to calculate for set bonuses lost in comparing items. I have managed to equip new shoulders, gloves, and chest piece (sadly had to remove my Tal Rasha's and lose some of my beloved attack speed).

I really don't want to be forced to have high hit points, and play with a giant buffer and lower DPS. I focus on having higher armor and resists and lower hits and balance the minimum amount of hits that are required to survive any fights. Managing my survivability has become second nature to me (one that I actually enjoy), and I feel like Blizzard assumes I can't figure it out for myself.

I'm pretty sure they tweaked the crafting and possibly drops too so that people will be forced to use the Mystic to try and create their perfect item. That's why I'm holding off on crafting until I hit level 70 and fully upgrade the artisans.

So who's getting RoS? I already pre-ordered mine. Can't wait try paladin out!

Yeah, I decided I'm gonna order it. I haven't been playing a lot recently (sad I'm missing that EXP), just cause of work schedules between me and the wife; but what I have played makes me think the expansion will be worth it.

Haven't done much crafting yet, but have gotten several shite to d/e along with actual drops of the white craft item. Is it a contrained resource once you really get into crafting?

Is it worth buying the hallow defender? 150 mill for the plan is quite expensive. Anyone here crafted anything decent?

Its been my limiting factor. It requires a lot to craft each item.

150M? Mine hadn't sold for 70something last night when I checked lol, maybe I should have held to sell during the day if that's the case.

Like I said I don't think spending or crafting much now is particularly worthwhile unless you're really loaded with gold/materials. The most you're probably going to get out of it is some decent-to-good (great?) gear to use for two weeks but I won't be surprised if level 70 gear pretty quickly replaces all but the best pieces anyone has now (to that end, I'm kind of surprised they use flat percentage values for CC/AS/CD instead of 'ratings' really). It's ten item levels difference, for comparison think about the power gap between item level 50 and item level 60 gear.

I am really wondering how this works. Say, if you reset and I invite you to my game, where we kill Diablo, do you get the reward? I would be very interested to try this out.

I was going to try this last night, but my buddy said after you reset you have to finish all quest before you can reset again. Good move by blizz. At least I got a leg for each of my 5 toons from Skeleton and diablo. Any other bosses drop legs?

Only Diablo has the guaranteed legendary after a reset. I've gotten a legendary from Azmodan and the 2nd Act 4 boss also, so yes they do drop them occasionally.

Edit: not quite true...for level 1-59 characters, the 1st kill of the end-of-act bosses should also guarantee a legendary. Level 60 characters don't get this bonus, though, and I'm not sure if this bonus applies again after a quest reset.

I gave someone in the community and their wife a pile of legacy legendaries/sets last night. I did not ask for pics of wife though. Large oversight on my part. Sigh.

I used the AH to get the white items. Around number 150, I got a great first weapon, 32k dps increase.

My Monk.

lol, I do that to. I bought some axes for like 20k a piece, they were all vendor purchased and I couldn't make commons with them. Silly me sold them back to the merchants. I should've put them back up for the next sucker.. lol.

Also did that once

Then I discovered that if you mouse over the item while browsing the AH, it will tell you if you can't salvage it.

I did manage to find 2 pieces of the new Inna's set and tried them out; once again losing more attack speed since I got the chest and the belt (replacing my Witching Hour). The LPSS bonus from the 2 set bonus is pretty nice though.

I also got a new Stone of Jordan with fire damage bonus, so that made 3 pieces with fire damage bonus totaling +65% bonus damage. So I tried a fire build (again; I've had a few Burning Axe of Sankis' to play with fire builds over the years) on my monk and it wrecks pretty well. Crits upwards of 1.4M with base damage of 190k, but attacks are so slow and that tosses survivability out the window whenever I run into challenging elite/champion groups.

Damn, you had enough whites to make that many? Farming whites is annoying. They need to make it so that mobs drop more of them.

Even if not purchasing them off the AH, it's not too bad to farm them. I've grown accustomed to running A1 cathedral and jail for the best amount of white/grey items from the weapon/armor racks. It's easy enough to tap those racks on your way by or even move to it and kill monsters around and click on it while you kill. I usually accumulate around 200 common debris/hour while also getting 250m experience (guesstimating).

Also, I've picked up enough rares to realize that they're all junk (and can be made with the same template as crafting recipes), so my bag gets filled with whites/greys, and the occasional unique. Saves a lot of downtime from clearing the bag of rares every 10 minutes or so.

Yeah, but I don't plan on getting the expansion. I'm appalled at the itemization revamp. Aside from the occasional interesting stat that's on a unique (that you usually have to suffer other major losses to gain), the itemization is bland and unrewarding for rerolling several times during crafting. I haven't played with the Mystic to see exactly how it works yet, but I'm not expecting anything magical (pun intended). It seems pretty clear that Blizzard doesn't want us having all of the stats that we want, and always be stuck with some useless stats. I also don't like spending billions playing the RNG lottery, instead of just buying it directly (the AH wins in this aspect).

Anyone here in the EU have the Defenders Hallow plan? Please PM me if you do.

I don't think it's worth it.

Got a legendary drop off the blacksmith's wife. The Butcher's Sickle, 1h legendary axe, 1158 DPS, 1.3 atk/s, +457 int, +810 life per hit, 20% chance to drag enemies to you when attacking.

Sounds perfect for my wizard

I personally am expecting this to be a result of "only" being able to obtain level 60 gear in a game that's now (behind the scenes) built to support level 70 play. I think itemization budgeting has been altered in such a way that, no, you probably can't find a great CC/AD/AS piece currently because more "stats" are being allocated to dex/str/int and vit. I expect once you reach 70 it'll be less restricted.

In the meantime I think picking up some pieces with +ele damage or +skill damage is a worthwhile pursuit. I'm playing a cold wizard since I found a pretty good Azurewrath and just swapping out from a rare amulet with fat stats to one with slightly lesser stats but +13% cold skills damage felt pretty significant.

I almost had an awesome pair of bracers last night too lol. Found the legendary ones that reward you with XP for gold picked up and they rolled +20% cold, +6% crit, a bunch of vit and a bunch of main stat. But... the main stat was dex lol. Probably still worth using frankly, but damn. Something to test the mystic on at least.

Any good suggestions for a cold wizard build? I love the freeze aspect of it. I hit 53 last night, so I'm not quite to frozen orb level yet, but here is my current build:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#aPgkST!WgY!ZbYZZY

I'm using Meteor with Comet since I have some equipment that gives more Meteor damage. At 55 I'll switch to Frozen Orb.

Always looking for suggestions though on stuff that could be better or more fun. It is pretty fun right now to cast Mirror Image and watch all 4 of them cast slow time and meteor.

I've been using

Magic Missile - Glacial Spike
Arcane Orb - Frozen Orb
Blizzard - Lasting Storm (the 8sec duration one)
Hydra - (cold hydra rune)
Storm Armor - arcane power cost reduction rune
Energy Weapon - 20% damage boost rune

With cold blooded, glass cannon, and (+20 arcane power +2 AP regen passive).

I haven't really looked through Wizard skills that thoroughly to be honest lol so there may be some better options lol, but it's served me well enough so far. I can handle T2 pretty easily with about 100k DPS and a bit over 800k toughness. Basically you drop a blizzard + hydra then just FOrb them. There might be a better armor (energy armor with +max AP maybe?) or signature spells options or you might prefer more of a 'nuke' instead of blizz/hydra.

I have very little arcane power on crit (and the coefficients on most of these aren't very good anyway) though so I like runes/passives that give me more AP or make it more efficient personally.

It's going to be interesting balancing my time between the expansion and Titanfall.

I'm not so bummed at missing out on the XP bonus going on right now, but I'm more anxious to get my barb up to 70. I only have 17 paragon levels, but they already really help out when starting a fresh character.

Well, how it is now is that primary and secondary are separate. And on the current gear, you can only get X number of primary slots and the others are then secondary. So, You can't roll a trifecta with average damage, main stat, and AR or vit. Those are all considered primary. You have to get at least one secondary (and possibly more).

And, with the mystic, I've been told you can can only change stats in their primary or secondary status. Like, you can't reroll a secondary and get a primary. So, the majority of those "almost perfect, but has gold find" gear will never roll anything other than a secondary stat.

The itemization looks as if they are going to start focusing on forcing you to decide between the go to stats now. So will end up with a combination of crit, crit damage, and AS, but only two of each. With that said, crit damage looks like it can be phased down, as now the +elemental and +skill damage end up being great. Plus, with the new AR gem, you can easily take that over an AR roll.

I hate to say it (considering all the bitching I've done about the game), but I'm curious to see how the expansion turns out. After the changes they made to the base game (considering what they had to work with), if it was $20-25 I'd probably get it (or rather, my friend that plays and is going to get it and said I could pick a game for a birthday present would get it for that). $40, and their history, I'm going to wait. The biggest change is that they've made loot running at least...not unenjoyable for me. I still hate a lot of things about the game, but the changes, especially Adventure mode might help a lot to alleviate that and make the game fun even.

Finally with some Paragon (50 something) focusing on attack speed and move speed and move speed boosting equipment (and two swords) its starting to feel a little more like my Frenzy barb from D2. Frenzy seems mostly useless though, its really only somewhat good against a single enemy but even then its not very good. Whirlwind is better still and obviously much much better against mobs.

Right now my skills are Frenzy (I used to use Bash might switch back), Whirlwind, Ground Stomp (it and Whirlwind are my bread and butter, I stomp, stun and pull mobs then whirlwind them), Ignore Pain (with the Fury spent heal rune), Earthquake, and whatever the Ancients one is. I think the passives are Unforgiving, Weapon Master (the one that gives the perks for different weapon types) and Boon of Bul Kathos (lowers the cooldown for Earthquake and Ancients). I'm thinking I should tweak the skills to boost fury generation and switch Unforgiving or Boon of Bul Kathos to Bloodthirst since I could use the healing boost as I still run into some Elites that get me good (mostly the ones that have the floor based modifiers, I end up having to run away and pick them off one at a time and/or use the Ancients or rely on my friend to get them). I know I could probably build a better barb with what I've got now even, but its a hack 'n slash game and so I want to be hacking n' slashing as fast as possible.

I was focused on crit damage before (had a spear that I had like 170% crit damage with an Emerald), but have moved away from that as I got better gear when I started playing again.

So I must be missing something but I can no longer use ground stomp and ignore pain on my barb at the same time and it's showing a skill for level 61 (avalanche or something like that). I had both of those skills equipped but then I switched some skills around to try some different stuff and now it won't let me add them both. I'll have to look at it again when I get home but basically they're both in the same category and it only lets me equip one from that category now.
