Couple questions -

Are rifts better than bounties for getting gear? Obviously you have to do bounties to get the rift tokens or whatever they are called.

Do you explore/complete the entire rift/bounty level or do you just do the objective and move on to the next one?

Are certain Acts better for gear in bounties or rifts or are they pretty much the same?

What is the best way to try to get gear at 70 and after you completed the campaign mode?
The best place is rifts, but only if you got the gear to do them. If you can't do T1 with some efficiency, do normal bounties.

As for which act, Act 1 has the best bounty cache loot: a decent weapon (especially for quick farming as a melee) and the coveted RRoG.

I'm in almost exactly the same position as Pontifex, got my monk up to level 70 and now undecided how to proceed. Even on hard mode I still have difficulty clearing elites that drop those freeze globes.

Last night I talked with a guy who answered a question in General, he was running a nice Crusader, took me for a run through T2. I could barely handle the normal mobs when I got separated from him, nearly got toasted several times when he didn't hold onto the rift boss well enough and it came after me. After that, I dropped back to solo play, upped difficulty to expert and was able to survive fine but it was definitely slower going than on hard mode. So I know I'm not ready to start running rifts yet, at least not at even T2 difficulty.

Is there any difference in the loot that drops between hard/expert/master/Tx for level 70 players? Or is it just that more loot drops in the rifts so you have better odds of finding a particular item? I know you guys have said that Magic Find doesn't really impact anything, but last night I removed the ring & headgear that had my only MF and even at expert level I just didn't seem to find as many rares and even saw some whites dropping from barrels/jars/etc where usually I get blues at the minimum.

There are differences in loot between non-Torment and Torment, as only certain items can drop in torment 1 difficulty or above (set items and a few other pieces). However, other than that, the only difference is drop percentage. I would recommend doing normal until you can do T1 comfortably. The drop rate difference will be made up by the speed at which you are able to clear monsters.

Rifts have higher drop rates, but until you hit T1, they aren't worth it IMO. Doing bounties will give you gold, exp, and loot until you are able to hit T1 rifts (which you should have a good stash of fragments for).

If you're new and just reached 70, start by doing normal pub bounties. Rack up on rift keys, and chances and pretty decent legendary loot. I found my first Thunder Fury durring a normal bounty run.

Best thing is to find some friends that are high level, and have them offload their junk to you.

I am also a monk. I can do hard bounties pretty much no problem. the only issue is the pink spinning laser globe things if I get stuck in between a few of them and some of the bigger bosses, like malthael's clouds or urzael's flamethrower/burning log pieces.

One thing that really helped was that I started using Enduring Ally and the Mantra of Healing with the extra hp on hit rune. Survivability went up by a good bit there and I still seem to be able to kill pretty fast, imo.

If you to run with me (on my monk) later tonight, I plan on playing some. If you're on US servers and have joined the AT clan, we can do some T1 bounties pretty quickly and get you some loot and paragon levels.

Run public Act 1 Normal bounties and just split up the bounties. That way you are super efficient and will gather more Act 1 caches per hour. Keep doing that until you have a RoRG. Typically, by the time you get your RoRG, you will have collected plenty of rift keystones to do rifts.

Are you from the EU? I can help you gear up by doing split normal bounty with my friends. We are very fast ^^

I'm sure you will be able to do Torment 1 by tonight if you play with us!

Yep. I want to add something too. This will be old news but newbs might not know. First of all, click on find communities > Type in 'Bounty' in the search bar > Pick the first group (the first community group is always the most popular group) > Join community. Then join in the group chat and type 'Looking for ACT 1 Normal Split bounty group' and hopefully people will start inviting you for split bounty. You welcome!

I have been doing T6 Act 1 bounties on my WD. After about 40 caches I got a ring. The ring had........

Strength.

I've noticed that when you open your cache's matter. I've started saving some of them and then opening them when I start my first t6 rift of the day before I've found any legendaries. I also gambled on rings/amulets before hand as I noticed it increases your finding of legendary rings dramatically. After doing hundreds of bounties without finding a rrog I found a couple in a few days using that strategy. I also sacrificed a virgin to RNGesus.

Blizzard changed caches a while ago to spawn according to the conditions they dropped under, not when they were opened.

Unless this is your D3 equivalent to never washing your jock strap for luck.

Is monk just severely underpowered or what? I am leveling a WD now, using mostly just Haunt + minions and it's so much easier & faster that it's not even funny. Even before I started using hand-me-down gear found while leveling the monk I was able to just cruise on expert while the monk had occasional tough fights on hard.

Granted, it's a completely different style of play, not quite as fun, but sheesh I have only had one case in 48 levels where my health dipped to the point where my screen flickered red. That is usually a several-times-per-session occurrence with my monk.

Honestly, nothing pre-70 matters one bit. While WD's are superior to Monks right now, I wouldn't judge it until you are 70 and doing at least T1.

Was checking out some more of the PTR stuff last night, and it looks absolutely amazing. You can get gear with procs for skills on it (Exploding Palm on hit, for example, on Monk). That is just amazing.

I respec'd into a Fire Monk and dropped my SoH (int anyway...) for a devestator. Sadly, I ran out of yellow mats before I was able to craft a great one, but whatever. I still smash.

So, I don't think diablo progress is calculating in my Dps for COA and EQ. Wonder if there is a way to make it do this?

After spending weeks hunting for that elusive Ring of Royal Grandeur I found 2 in space of 24hrs of each other on T1, funny how that goes.

Doing triple sets of Asheara's, Aughild's, and Cain's on a crusader with a Gryfalcon Jekangboard Blessed Shield build.

Shouldn't have salvaged all those then "useless" Unity rings back then...

Torment level does affect the quality and chances of drops from caches, but the actual drops are determined when they are opened. I can farm caches on my crusader or demon hunter and open them on my wizard or witch doctor and get mostly int based drops. There is still a smallish chance, I believe around 10%, that a loot drop is not smart loot drop though.

That's how it was. Blizzard changed that behavior a while ago.

I like grouping with a good monk, in torment rifts.

In my experience so far, there's a massive gap between classes towards the end game. I watch Diablo 3 Shinobi's channel on Youtube and seeing the ease/speed with which his Witch Doctor makes it to Greater Rift 30ish is alarming. It looks like his many minions can crit, each hit, for 10 million, and the larger one can crit for upwards of 60 million a shot.

I'm at nearly 100% lightning damage, 9000 int, 65% crit chance, nearly 400% crit damage (on a wizard) and my meteors crit for around 13m. Yeah, the meteor is area effect, but when it comes to clearing elites/rift bosses, those minions just clear high hp single targets so quickly.

But what I say above is more about solo play. On group play, my ideal group is a Monk, Crusader, me, and either a witch doctor or a demon hunter. Crusader could be swapped for a barbarian but I tend to find many more crusaders that are really super geared than barbarians. And in fact, even a T4 rift is pretty easily cleared if you're playing with 4 active players, even if their paragon levels are low and their gear isn't the greatest. But I wonder how many people would say that a good wizard fits into their ideal group of 4. My lightning build is essentially stun/damage/control, with the stun allowing for easy grouping of monsters, and then meteors (whose ground damage can stun as well).

I'm hoping to find some good teams (thanks for the add, Cappuccino!) prior to 2.1.

TheInternet invited me to his game last night on T3. Let's just say I was mostly worthless, lol. I was dying very quickly, especially when we hit Malthael. I was barely doing any damage, even to trash mobs.
