Spending spirit was the old 4-peice SWK buff. I have mixed feelings about the new buff. Losing the 20% damage increase really hurt. I was doing some pretty good double and triple digit - million hits...now my monk doesn't hit as hard at all. The buff change has forced to me fiddle with skills again....

I believe EP = Exploding Palm.

I like exploding Palm and use it but Wave of Light does way more damage to really make my monk effective. Using a staff for the Wave of Light resource 47% discount was awesome. But since the patch i went back to fist weapons and with Shenlong's set i can use Wave of Light regularily. I need to adjust my stats to get resource costs down so i can do even more.

Now that i responded i really should tweak my abilities. I should get rid of 7 sided strike for another SWK decoy ability like Lashing Tail Kick or Tempest Rush. I would love to get rid of Sweeping Wind but i only costs 5 spirit so it seems like a no brainer to keep. I also have Mystic Ally but with my boots that gives me a second ally that really boosts my damage stats.

20% damage hurts but in exchange the buff is basically x6 damage to most spirit spenders.

EP is a great supplement to kick/bell/TR, but I think with the way Sunwuko is setup now you're pretty much relegated to one of those three as your primary 'nuke' essentially. And while I think inherently they're all pretty decent, it's hard to ignore what the Incense Torch/Tzo Krins Gaze can do for bell and that there's really no gear that comes close to enhancing kick/TR that noticeably.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention that hte decoy was exploding for 3000% weapon damage before. So my buffed damage was hitting about 4mil, and 3000% is where many of the big hits were coming from. With my attack speed, I generate spirit like crazy. Dropping the bell repeatedly. So because of that, the new buffs aren't necessarily bad for my build...just different.

So, I have mixed feelings. I still enjoy the monk very much. Just have to fiddle with it now to get it where I want it.

The new Gungdo bracers are going to change up things by a lot. Been using them on PS4 and the Monk is much stronger than the old SWK bonus. More damage and some actual build diversity as far as element choice and skills used instead of spamming SW and going holy. Dual-wield is viable too.

I routinely see EP screen wipes with crits over 1 billion going dual-wield. Ancient 2-handers using WoL + EP have some ridiculous numbers. A dual-wield lightning based build with only Cyclone Strike and EP as spenders smashes T6 rifts within a few minutes. Yeah, I know, it's PS4 and damage numbers are inflated, but the difference between old and updated SWK damage/speed is massive.

Monk is very awesome now. I think I'm going to have to make one once S2 gets started.

SWK does not have bracers in the set so you can still get the bonus and use Gungdo bracers.

I'm a little surprised to all the debate on whether to use EP or bells. Use both.

Youtube has solo monk T6 rift clears < 2 minutes. Once the season starts and people get a hold of the new gungdo, it'll be even more ridiculous.

Is Gungdo a season 2 item?

Also to clarify if a enemy dies with EP on it, then this bracer will automatically put EP on other nearby enemies?

I believe the gungdo with the new affix will be season 2 exclusive at first.

And yes, any enemy that dies from EP, the EP explosion will apply EP to all others hit by the explosion.

Pull groups, apply EP to trash, drop pillar, now everyone has EP and will die shortly.

I haven't yet seen how high monks can push solo grifts, but the patch made it a ton better than it used to be.

I haven't pushed very hard, but my new challenge is around now 43ish with my current gear.

The boards are now at 48 for solo monk, since quin69/quinC just beat it yesterday, but 2 people just broke his record since then (probably due to his stream/video).

It's S2 on PC, but all S2 stuff was patched in on 2.1.2 for PS4 and Xbox One. And yes, EP's on death explosion applies EP to enemies in range.

Was playing this last night and had a blast. Was running around with my different characters. I love my wizard but I forgot how much fun I have playing with a witch doctor. An interesting character as I can do several different things with him.

Same besides not getting any useful upgrades, lots of rifts with only a single soul at the end. To top it off in one session with a Barb that i was topping off to 70 I had a rift two pieces drop gear for a monk. The rift drop was really annoying, first rift with a new 70 and I saw a green head piece drop, you can imagine my dispointment when it turned out to be not only be a bad roll but not even be for the right class. I know random is random, but not just those two, but i got a a couple more off class drops, and the rift bosses dropping so little, I wonder if they broke the loot system a little. Regular drops were fine, caches were fine. But rifts and grifts all seemed off.

And you don't play on EU servers?

I've been watching Jaetch's videos (single wizard sub 3 minute T6 clear). In all of my time playing, I have not even found a full firebird set (still need to farm a RoRG I guess), and beyond that - never a high DPS two hander that he uses to generate some hits...not crits...hits, of 28 million in white damage. It's absurd to see the power level difference, and I can't help but feel that I'm really doing something wrong when I play. I can't seem to get a great set going forward to take me to that firebird build.

I'm at plvl 270 or so, I think there are wizards on the bnet forums complaining that they didn't find a wand of woh until plvl 600 or so, but - yeah. I'd love it if the RNG gods smiled on me a bit more, heh.

I'm looking for some active EU players...

I tweaked my monk and added a third Sunwuko bonus ability, cyclone strike, to compliment my exploding palm and wave of light and now all three will buff and create exploding decoy. I love this, i blow a ton of enemies up now. The only caveat is i suck enemies in and if i cannot kill them quickly they can easily take me out and i cannot escape. But in a group that is not an issue unless i get seperated and fight the toughest elites.

I'll be waiting for S2 to start, and I'll really try to push a monk. I have a T2 capable monk currently, but the season will be as good an excuse as any to really push one.

Until then, MoJ! Unbelievable how badly rng is screwing me on this. I feel like I'm owed a perfect ancient one at this point. But considering how it's been going, I'll get the worst possible rolls when it finally drops.

But I'm not farming hard, just a couple rifts a day, no grifts. It keeps me sane.

I got an ancient set piece the other day but my non ancient has been rolls on it, doh!

I have only played crusader and monk so in season 2 i will play a new char, maybe Demon Hunter.
