Sweenish, thanks again for the help getting those parts of the event done!
I ended up theorycrafting for a few different monk specs in preparation for the season and will provide some of my findings here for anyone interested. I tested Rabid Strike and it's a flat mimic, not related to Ally's as I had originally thought it'd be. /derp The mimic doesn't relocate each cast (always casts at any target that's closest to you), does recast without actually moving (as long as you're using the skill on an enemy; e.g. works with WoL if you're wearing TKG) and I can't decide if it's worth it compared to Sunkeeper as an offhand. I'll be pushing some GRs to see how it works in a few.
LTK: Powerful, but difficult to sustain. I tried with SWK6, LoN, and even Istvan's set for shiggles. SWK seems to be the most powerful, but obviously won't be as much damage as LoN. I was hoping for more from this, even with Lefebvre's Soliloquy and Spirit Guards. The problem I have with LTK is even with 28% RCR with Cindercoat it wasn't sustainable. I had too much downtime doing zero damage. I was barely able to do GR75 with almost all gear pieces maxed out and augment @70 and 1100 PL. So rolling a lot of RCR is a must. I tried many different variations of skills and items and couldn't seem to find something that works very fluidly.
WoL: LoN WoL is still my favorite monk build and definitely the most usable for TX-XIII farming (but is difficult to attain starting out fresh). The bug fix to Pinto's Pride helped, as well as the bug fix to WoL not registering hits while using Epiphany. However, I still see a lot of hits not landing which is extremely frustrating. With better gear than what I tried with LTK (all augmented and almost perfect) I was able to consistently do GR75 in about 10 minutes. Out of curiosity I also tried using I6 instead of SWK6 or LoN for WoL. The damage bonus increase was pathetic, but with Rabid Strike it may be a different story. It'd be fun to see at least! I'll try testing this today when I get home.
I didn't test the other major builds for monk, but R6 Shenlong's generator is easily still the most powerful. I6/R2 likely behind that by a reasonable margin, but would be a nice change of pace from the DS rotation requirement. I'd probably put U6 on par with SWK LTK/WoL; possibly a little below.
I don't know if I'll be playing monk this season (gasp!). I have ideal rolls for about every piece saved for the monk on just about every build so I feel like it's time to aim for something else. I may be rolling a DH and run M6. We'll see.
I look forward to grouping with everyone and getting the journey done, and best of luck to everyone on the start tonight! I hope to be on Saturday to begin.
