I went to the Doom movie expecting crap and most of the movie being in first person view from what I've heard. Also being that I loved Doom3, I didn't appreciate the story being butchered.
I got out of there thinking: Wow, that was a pretty good damn movie. I was impressed. To me Doom was one of the best horror films in a while. I'll tell you while. STORY.
They have a few jump out moments - I don't think as many as other horro movies though, but this is exactly what I wanted. Many horror movies have crappy story lines or a story that you can write in a few lines, but Doom's story took more thought, has more explanation. I enjoyed that. I also understood why they changed the story to deal with this 24th chromosome instead of the teleporter. It's more realistic. It's something that can associate more with. And it's a pretty cool concept.

I also thought that the Rock was gonna be the good guy. But since it didn't turn out that way, I was surprised and praised it as the only right move for the movie. That turn made the movie better.

There should be more movies like this that focus on story and things that freak you out because they are more plausible than just jumps. That's a true horror movie.
