Sad that the three of you fail to realize that Kerry voted FOR the original version of that bill. The version of the bill that demanded Iraq repay the costs of reconstruction to the tune of $20 billion. That version was going to be VETOED by President Bush. How is it anti-war of Kerry to vote FOR a bill funding equipment for our troops and reconstruction in Iraq?

Please let me know if this has already been discussed , but I haven't heard much discussion about a single, interesting sentence from John Edwards during the debate :

IFILL: This next question goes to you, Senator Edwards.

Senator Kerry said in a recent interview that he absolutely will not raise taxes on anyone under -- who earns under $200,000 a year. How can he guarantee that and also cut the deficit in half, as he's promised?

<Edwards reply>
<Cheney replies, including this statement>The senator himself said, during the course of the primaries, that the Kerry plan would drive us deeper into deficit. Those were the senator's word about his running-mate.

<Edwards rebuts, including this sentence in reference to Cheney's above statement>
EDWARDS: We are committed to cutting back anything in our programs that need to be cut back to get us back on a path to fiscal responsibility.

Isn't this an admission from Edwards that there is no way they are going to be able to fund their social programs without raising taxes (which Kerry promised not to do)?

No. It's saying they may have to cut back on some things. He didn't say what things and by how much.

But, before the debates, Kerry has already said he's eliminated some of the planned programs to lower the cost.

Unless the economy takes off like a rocket neither of these candidates is going to balance the budget in 4 years. With Bush promising tax cuts but a continued heavy expenditure in Iraq, and Kerry promising new social programs but a continued heavy expenditure in Iraq, how will that be done? Kerry could not possibly roll back the tax cuts for the wealthy either with this Congress so he would be unable to pay for his social programs.

As usual both sides think the American public is brain dead.
