Official Elden Ring Thread

Realized I left my savefile at the very beginning on a NG+ playthrough where I'm still maidenless, and my playthough of Demon's Souls did little to get me ready for Elden Ring again since my Demon's Souls character is based on hiding behind a big fireproof shield while my Elden Ring character is a samurai dual wielding +25 blood uchigatanas. Got waxed on my first attempt at taking down Tree Sentinel lol, though got him on the second attempt. Probably should do this DLC on NG+ anyways since I have maxed out weapons.

I bought the $80 combo edition on PC after playing it initially on PS5. So far my inclination is to refund it and grab the DLC on PS5 instead. It doesn’t run or look amazingly better on PC despite a pretty high end 7950X+4090 setup, and actually has plenty of pretty annoying hitching that the PS5 doesn’t have. Then I could start from NG+ instead of a fresh character anyway.

Nope. Just head to where you defeated mogh and talk to the new character.

Thanks for the heads up on the graphics. I've been have some slight regrets I didn't get Elden Ring for the PC, instead of the PS5.

No problem. I was surprised too. I had something like 14% GPU utilization at 4k with everything maxed out and frame rate locked at 60, so the game isn’t really capable of anything amazing graphically beyond what the consoles can do.

Anyone else feel the drop off in quality after leaving Stormveil castle? Lurnia isn’t the level design/look I was hoping for. With that being said the game is still good.

Liurnia definitely isn't as cool as Stormveil, but it gets way better later IMO. Caelid is amazing for example.

Finally started the DLC last night and already have like 5-6 hours into it. It's like crack all over again lol.

I also am SSSSOOOO happy that after over 2 years they finally fixed the damn issue I had with opening/closing the map on PS5.

You press the touch pad to open the map, but if you press the touch pad again to close the map as you would think you do, it wouldn't close the map but instead open another menu on top of the map, making you 2 layers deep to get back into the game. I would do this like 90% of the time I opened the map even after like 180 hours of playing.

When I first turned the game on with the DLC, the first thing I did was open the map with the touchpad. Then instinctively I pressed it again to close the map .... AND IT CLOSED THE MAP! I was like wait wait ... and did a double take and tried it again, and yep, it worked again.

So thank you for finally fixing this damn QOL issue after nearly 2.5 years.

I've been playing the DLC and I don't feel like it's been overly difficult like a lot of people have complained about. Maybe I just haven't gotten far enough in.

I'm at the end boss and have defeated all other bosses and dragons. It is extremely hard but doable. I have over 4k hours over 70+ games and consider myself a hardcore eldin ring master and it's a hard but great game.

Yeah I am on ng+2 with my 220 level character and I haven't found it any more difficult than the original game.

Messmer is the first boss that is actually giving me trouble in this game. Holy hell he's a pain. And that summons being in the arena is dirty lol.

I generally don't summon and I haven't found Messmer yet. Rellana and Midra are the two bosses I've found that have been decently challenging so far. That said, they weren't remotely close to Malenia for me.

Messmer is the first boss that is actually giving me trouble in this game. Holy hell he's a pain. And that summons being in the arena is dirty lol.

Just trying to launch that summons results in insta-death. I used Black Knife Tiche on his ass, and strong melee on him, then, if I can, I summon the arena ash. Took about 15 tries but I managed to beat him.

I have killed all other bosses and all dragon and all fire giants. The last boss is making mincemeat out of me. My Son finally beat him the other night. I need to re-spec myself to attempt again. Only have 8 larval tears left.

Found and killed Messmer. Still haven't found a boss even half as hard as Malenia.
