M6805 CPU 800mh on battery issue
Ok, I am still having problems trying to make this laptop run full 1.8ghz when on battery. I have already DL speedswitch and turned "on battery" to max performance. BUt its still reverting to 800mhz when on DC. Can someone help me out here?
It'll just be an M6807 with a 3200+ and 80GB hard drive.Originally posted by: Bbc84
I have a question about the new model thats gonna be comming out.
When it comes out would it be better to just buy the current old model or is the new models speed and power just a overclocked M6805/M6807?
If it is just an overclocked version, wouldnt it be better to buy the current model and over clock it to match those speeds?

I've got mine overclocked to 3200+ speeds, and there isn't much of a difference. The 9700 rumors were just rumors, it'll be a 64MB 9600.Originally posted by: Bbc84

If thats true, then how much of a difference is that 3200+ compared to the 3000+ that in the current emachine. 80GB would be nice since i have lots of media.
But what about the 9700 vid card, wasnt that part of it too?

There *is* a fix for the clock-speed problem with XP - I'm using it and it works just fine. Takes a little finding, is all - I ended up downloading it from Acer Taiwan instead. Search for Q330512 on the web and you'll find it...

If you want, try the command line version and run it as a service with FireDaemon. I haven't had any problems with either the GUI or CLI version. If you need more help than I can offer or want a second opinion, drop by the DC Forum and ask there.Originally posted by: gweilo8888

Whoops, my bad - said Acer, meant Asus. Good catch, thanks for sharing the link as I'd lost it and was too tired to hunt it down again.
BTW, I've joined the Anandtech Folding@Home team, folks, so we've got another M6807 on-board and cranking away. Wish their software was more stable though, it crashes when I try to go full-screen (nothing happens) and then I revert to non-full screen, and I'd prefer the software to act as a screensaver *and* a GUI tray app.

Thanks Orion. I picked mine up on 3/26 so I guess I'm going back to Best Buy to see if they can do an exchange on paper to qualify me for the new rebate.
I noticed the new rebate is only from 3/28 to 4/3; I wonder if the 6809 will be announced or released right after that (not that I'm holding my breath=).
I was lucky enough to get the 5400rpm drive and no dead/stuck pixels.
**I noticed that Fedora Core 2 has been released by Red Hat. Hopefully I'll have a chance soon to give it a spin. Does anyone know where I can download SUSE9.0 for amd64? The SUSE servers and mirrors are painfully slow.
