I'm having trouble with my wireless network. I just bought a DLink DI-624 and installed it as it says to in the manual. After playing around with the connection I realized that i had to remove the wireless network from my bridge to even get it to connect. So, now it connects at high speeds, but it bumps me off line every 10minutes no matter where I am. I am typing on a desk that is one shelf above the router and I still get kicked off. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do to prevent the repeat disconnects?
Thanks

F2 I believe, and there isn't much to tweak.

Hey guys, where's the Windows XP reinstallation cd?
I can't find it in any of the packages.
Is it on any of the restore cds?

All you can do is restore it to the original config, there's no full copy of XP.

Well, you *can* do a restore and then immediately uninstall the junk...

Then use ghost to back it up after you clean out all of the junk!

You can use Ghost or Acronis True Image which is what i have been using. Works great for me. By the way all here is the NEW 09.

m6809 is out.

from:
http://news.com.com/2100-1001_3-5184359.html?tag=nefd_top

"All the new models will be on sale Sunday at eMachines retailers, including electronics giant Best Buy"

Emachines website lists it as $1649.99 before $100 rebate.

I have had my M6805 less than 14 days so I'm thinking of paying the extra money and exchanging it for the M6809 before my 14 day return option is up. Best Buy told me that would not be a problem to do/no restock fee would apply.

So far the M6809 is not listed on Bestbuy.com but I notice that OfficeDepot is claiming to have it. I'm worried about getting stuck with a 4200rpm drive though(hopefully the 80gigs are all 5400rpm). I'd rather have the 60gig 5400rpm I have now than an 80GB 4200rpm.

If you got the $250 in rebates I wouldn't bother upgrading to the 6809. You are only getting a bigger HD and the next step up of CPU each of which you can upgrade yourself and sell your original parts. That way you can get the 7200rpm HD and not worry about the 4200.

How much would a 80GB HD cost?

I actually probably prefer the 6805 model because i have no use for a DVD burner, since i got a 8X one on my desktop. And since the 6805 has a DVD-ROM drive that would be good enough to play my burned stuff.

I want to know if the 3200+ processor is gonna be noticable when overclocking.

Is the 3200+ just an overclocked 3000+?

If it is, using the 3000+ would be just the same as the 3200+ right when overclocked. Or would the 3200+ be able to overclock even more.

I don't think there is an advantage since we can not lock the AGP/PCI bus. The most we are going to be able to get out of these are roughly 200mhz before the AGP is out of spec.

The 80gb 5400 rpm hd is around $240. Sell your 60gb 4200 for $130ish

Hmmm guess its probably a better deal for me to wait for the 6805 to fall a couple hundred more when the 6809 appear in the stores.

Since i dont really need a DVD burner, and if what you guys are sayingabout only 200Mhz more, thats probably not going to make a noticable difference.

Price is now $1499 at BB.com (Not sure about B&M) before rebates for the 6805.

I just went and picked up my 6805 yesterday. Got it home, and it had a dead pixel in the left center of the screen. I took it back to the Best Buy where i got it, and made them go through 5(!) more before we found one with all good pixels. It does have the 4200rpm Hitachi tho. Anyone who plans on picking one of these up make sure you check it out b4 your 14 days are up. So far I am extremely pleased with this laptop. I picked up an HP zx5000(mobile p4 2.8, 512mgs, ati 9200) before i got this, and returned it after experiencing the awfull battery life and lackluster performance of the HP. I would definately recommend this laptop. I picked mine up for $1399 after a $100 rebate.

Considering the number of pixels on a 1280 x 800 LCD display, 1 stuck pixel isn't really surprising. A single pixel that'd dead (ie. no color or always white) on a 1280x800 screen is 99.9999% perfect.

I have my m6805 at 2000 mhz and 413/230 for the vid card. Rock solid and stable. The way I tested for maximum AGP stability was to set the multiplier lower than 9x (all the lower multipliers are unlocked) and then cranked it up until 3dmark03 wouldn't run anymore (my clock speed stayed below 1800 mhz). That established my maximum AGP speed and let me work my way from 1800 mhz until I hit max stable of 2000 mhz.

How did you determine you had a dead pixel? I've had 5 laptops and I've never had a dead pixel. Maybe I'm just lucky, but is there some trick I'm missing? I've had dead pixels in my regular desktop LCD 15" screen, so I know what that looks like. Just curious if it's really blatant.

isnt that also dependent on the RAM as well?

I mean... cranking up the 'bus speed' on the proc. to stress the AGP bus as well, well then theres the RAM. Its PC2700...
very likely that the RAM craps out before AGP goes way out of spec, yea?

We really need to get this issue with PC3200 RAM resolved.
although i seem to be hearing two different things.
first is that DTR Athlons wont handle PC3200 because the integ. mem controller wont run it
then people are saying that we need a BIOS update.

which is it?

Yes from what i have read if you only use one stick of the 400mhz ur find but u can't use 2. Also if you have one of the E lappys you don't have the DTR you have a True mobile processor from what i know. Now as to why you can't use the 400 mhz in both slots ill never know till somebody comes out with a fix same for the CPU issue on batt power.
