^ is correct, everything I've heard indicates that Kingston Value(less) ram is complete crap.

I am planning on getting an 8RDA+ and a 2500 Barton to go along with my 2 sticks of Kingston 256MB Hyper-X PC3500 CL2. Should I expect problems installing windows XP? Will I be able to install at all? I have read about this problem when using faster than PC2700 ram with other nforce2 boards. Hopefully this wont be a problem as I don't have any PC2700 to put in to install XP with. Thanks, everyone.

Ok, here is a strange question.. Just got my 8rda+ set up with an older 2100+ B core and 256mb of buffalo ch-5 pc3200. I installed everything in the reccomended order and then updated the bios. Now since i have updated the bios I am getting the Blue Screen Of Death and it says "Begginning of physical memory dump" .

Do I need to revert back to the older version of the bios and stay there? Is there a version that is more stable? Any help is appreciated.

ap23 - my 8RDA+ will not run at 200 MHz with my 2 sticks of Kingston 256MB Hyper-X PC3500 CL2. I can run at 166, but that's no good. This is a known problem with the hyperx 3500 and the 8RDA+. Some people do report that their hyperx does work at 200 or beyond. Let us know if you have any luck.

Just an update, it turns out that the hercules soundcard I picked up was having a conflict, I removed it, did a fresh install and it is running like a rapes ape!!!

Installed some brand new buffalo from Marmaduke and currently have the FSB running at 221 stable and more importantly I have NO heat issues.

For any of you who are having memory issues I would highly reccomend talking to Marmaduke. Thanks Dude! Epox Rocks!

Well, I've had my 8RDA+ for 5 months now and I'll still experimenting with it. Currently I'm trying to find out my max. FSB/Freq. setpoint at default Vcore. I've got the system up to 12x180MHz and it is perfectly stable as far as I can tell. I've used every method of stress testing that I can think of and it just won't crash. And this is with my KHX2700 running at 100%.

Later today, after I wake up, I'm gonna try for 185MHz (12x185MHz=2220MHz). If that works I'll up the multiplier and see if it will run at that speed. Umm, that will be 2.31GHz if it works. :Q

Edit:Oh, my CPU is a Barton 2500+.

Err. I have a question.

Is there a way to verify that USB 2.0 is properly installed?

I followed the installation order of WinXP, SP1, nForce drivers, but it seems that I might not have USB 2.0 properly installed. The reason I suspect this is that I have a USB 1.1/2.0 (supposedly) flash drive and I see no performance increase while testing with USB 2.0 versus USB 1.1 in a different PC.

I have 200 gig WD hard drive.
Do I need to use controller card or just use the IDE onboard?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you'll hit the 127 gig limit. You'll likely need to partition the drive into ~120 gig C:, and the rest in a D: drive. Or you can probably use the disk that came with it (or downloadable from their web site) to setup a bios translation that will allow access to the entire size as a C: drive. Problem with that is that the bios translation usually slows the drive access speed. A 3rd party IDE PCI controller may allow access to the full size, hopefully without any, or much, performance hit.

If you guys are having trouble with high fsb, be sure to do the vdd mod. I could run at 200fsb, but not above...stable. Once I did it I had no problem running 220fsb. Trust me...It works.

I just wanted to check in and thank the people that offered advice to me above. I RMAed my processor, the mobo, and the RAM to Newegg and got replacements. It started up with no hitches whatsoever and it appears to be smooth sailing now. I'm still getting everything installed, but I'll let you know if I run in to anything.

Out of curiosity, i see a lot of people saying their boards dont boot at 333 or 400 or whatever? At the post screen, mine tells me right there that its running the ram in dual-channel mode at 333 ... and i tried running it at 400 with absolutely no problems. Does this mean I got one of the good northbridges?

Yup, though it's a combination of board, CPU and ram, really. Smile real big, and start upping your multiplier.

Can someone tell me what the Turbo LED indicator is?

It is listed on page 3-12 of the manual along with the jumper conections for the HD LED, Power Switch, Reset Switch, etc. There is no discription however.

Thanks.

Way back when, you chould push a button on the front of the case, and cause your computer to run in Turbo mode - which was really just the rated speed of the processor itself. Ususally un-Turbo was some lower percentage of the Turbo clock speed. Why the heck anyone would want to run at the lower speed I'll never know. Every machine I built had the turbo jumpered, and the switch only controlled the LED speed display.

Those were the days........that really sucked.

So this brand new board still contains features of an 8088 machine?

Something about this just doesn't ring true... There must be some other reason/purpose for it.
