Here's another little FUN quirk.

How about you install a RADEON 7000 and upgrade the driver.... on this motherboard. Kinda nice how you lose your left audio channel for good. Gee I wonder if Epox has figured out a fix for this little problem yet...?

Anyone else running a RADEON 7000 who has upgraded the driver, and STILL has both audio channels present? I tried uninstalling the
Driver for the 7000 and reinstalling the drivers for this wonderful board (not), and still have no left channel audio anymore.

If anyone has successfully conquered this latest "peek a boo" found on this motheboard.... please post.

Speaking of little quirks, I having trouble getting my floppy drive to work correctly. It's not the drive because it works fine in another computer. The cables work fine as well in the other computer. I'm thinking it is a software problem not. I have the floppy disabled in the BIOS for now until I can figure out what the hell is wrong. It's funny how I still need the dang thing to upgrade my BIOS.

Is there any chance you have the floppy cable reversed, or what are the exact symptoms? Also, here are a couple strange-but-true items to check for:
 • If you have an RPM-signalling fan that has a low or variable RPM, power it from the PSU directly, instead of the motherboard
 • Disable legacy USB support in the BIOS

edit: also, floppy drive and motherboard should be at opposite ends of the cable. There should be a "twist" in some of the wires between the floppy's connector and the motherboard's connector (sorry if I'm stating something you know already ) photo, with twist on top

No you don't. There is a program on the 8RDA+ CD called "Winflash". It allows you to flash your bios in the windows enviroment.

Thanks for that information.

mech, that's for that info as well. And just in case, I did attempt the reverse the cable as well. But first, I'm going to flash the BIOS with the floppy drive disabled and hope for the best.

Does the 8RDA+ support any memory ratios?.I know the Abit NF7-S has a lot of ratio adjustments.

Just finished a build with this mobo and win xp pro. Some peculiar behaviour going on.
Got a page fault when installing XP and had to shut down but got set-up going again
and xp installed but can't view sys info. Says WMI files corrupted or missing. Other than
that browsing the internet is a ah heck. IE error messages continually shut down program
and once every so often random sys re-boot. This is just with IE it seems. There is no other
software loaded.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

What ide cable length did you all use? How long is the ide cable that comes with it? Is it long enough to connect two devices?

Here's my most recent need of assistance on this board.

I just got the SPDIF bracket (EP-SPD650 from this link) from Epox over the weekend. Looking at it, I see the thing appears to be focused on the optical in and out, even including an optical cable.

My speakers are Altec Lansing 4.1s that can take analog and digital inputs, the old layout from an SB Live! 5.1 card had a simple 1/8" minijack splitting to the two digital inputs on my speakers. This connection scheme was recommended by an Altec support guy.

Now someone explain how the hell to put this thing into operation, it came with zero documentation beyond a packing slip. I'm at work right now so it's not in front of me, but page 7 of the manual which can be downloaded here shows what the bracket looks like, for SPDIF out there's just a hole cut in the metal of the bracket.

Help?

It's OK, not great. Their deal is $5.99 shipped for an 18" rounded cable. I got two 24" rounded cables from SVC for $12.xx shipped, so...

The 8RDA+ comes with EPoX's in-house Magic Health hardware utility, Norton's excellent Ghost 7 and PC Cillin 2002.Not sure about the MSI board you mentioned earlier. Both are close to the same price.Best to do your own research on
Google .Just look up Nforce2 reviews.

The anti-virus software included with motherboards is all pretty much the same. If you're looking for the most cost-effective option, that's probably the non-plus version (8RDA). But you didn't say what you'd be needing/using the system for, so, the 8RDA+ version could technically be more cost-effective if you need those parts, or even the Asus A7N8X Deluxe if you're nuts about Serial ATA (for whatever reason ;P).

There`s a new Epox 8RDA+ review over@PC Stats .

Another Awesome Board from Epox!

Epox always seems to be able to impress us. Maybe it's their dedication to enthusiasts/overclocker segment which gives them a special place in my heart, or maybe it's just that they produce some darn fast motherboards. The Epox 8RDA+ continues this tradition of excellent quality, speed and overclockability with the help of a special little chipset from Nvidia

The Performance of the Epox 8RDA+ was excellent and it has some of the best overclocking options of any current nForce2 motherboard we've tested. With an unlocked processor we were able to push this bad boy to 214 MHz FSB while maintaining 100% stability; we're pretty sure we could have gone higher if we had better cooling on the Northbridge how

A follow-up on the SPDIF bracket issue I mentioned above, as a warning/update to anyone else with similar system layout to mine.

The SPDIF out bracket does not work, as currently configured it CANNOT work, there was a disconnect between what Epox intended to design and sell for that bracket and what they ended up having available. The Tech Support guy that returned my call left a message that I should get a refund on it from marketing, to call him back and he'd conference me in with marketing and make it happen.

The only port on the bracket is the Optical out, though the literature shows at least two ports (looks like Optical in is what the other one would be by placement) and there are labelled cutouts in the face of the metal bracket, one SPDIF out with a round cut and one Optical in with a square cut.

So unless my Altec Lansing ATP4 can handle an optical in, looks like the SB Live! 5.1 is going back into my box.
