I'm sure they could modify the formula somehow to account for it; I think the bigger issue would be somehow trying to ensure it's not abusable to create high level materia super quickly. Another option is maybe they could make it so that at 50 you can fulfill the GC supply mission by doing repairs for other players (of the same GC?) instead of crafting an item.

I'm pretty sure it's just that dungeon too.. Primals and Wonderer's Palace would instantly pop. They must have a set amount of resources dedicated to each dungeon or something.

Not sure what they expected when they made it so very easy to get 50 and then only give the players 1 dungeon worth farming.

Since you can play with people cross-server, I would assume that instance servers are probably universal. So, as you mentioned, the server set aside for the level 50 content is probably going over their quota for the number of concurrent instances. Sounds like a reasonable conclusion, but also not that great of an implementation. I don't recall WoW ever having hard caps on specific instances.

My friend was telling me that currently all servers (or maybe both regions?) are currently divided up into two clusters(?) [for instanced dungeons] but they have a maintenance planned for Wednesday to change the split into three clusters to better allocate resources. I have no idea how truthful that is at all but I do know he obsesses over game news/game gossip so he's usually not completely off base.

a local best buy has it in stock...about an hour away though. don't get off work until 7:30 (unless I take vacation time and leave early) and they close at 9:00. I should be able to make it, but do I want to drive down there tonight? thats the big question.

Yeah, the producer mentioned that on the lodestone forums last week. Each region has 2 duty finder groups currently, and they're expanding that to 3 groups per region. And they're adding new worlds and more servers that handle instances.

They also plan to commence World Transfer services soon to allow people to play with friends/etc. Hopefully that will work out lol.

I'm assuming that you're planning on buying it online so you can just pick it up, right? If that's the case, you have around a week to actually get it. Although, that is a hell of a drive just for a game. I did that for a TV deal once, and it wasn't that much fun. Although, I am the type that doesn't really like driving over half an hour for anything.

So I put a new firmware on my HTC One and lost my Square Enix authenticator, forgetting it was on there. I first emailed them about oh.. five days ago. Still no reply. Tried their online support 'chat' yesterday. Was put in a queue, about 2 hours long, at the end of the queue get a message no agents available... nice. Tried it again, two hours later the same thing.

Considering if it's worth even trying their phone support or just shelving this game. Some of the worst service ever, lol.

where I live, pretty much everything is about an hour away, other than like grocery stores, small hardware stores, and other small stores.

Anything big like Best Buy, Costco, Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Walmart, movie theaters, malls, etc are about an hour away, used to drive an hour (1 way) to work for about 8 years and another job was about 40 minutes 1 way, so I'm pretty used to it.

I decided to order online and go pick it up tonight (leaving work 1.5 hours early). I did call to make sure they definitely had it in stock before I ordered though.

I use the One Time Password app, but I'm not 100% sure how it works. I'm pretty used to the Blizzard app, which just uses a key that you can write down and restore at will. This one seems to have a serial number that you register with Square Enix? It also seems to grab a code on command (from the server?).

Similar to the Blizzard authenticator as well with Square's, but without the convenient removal methods if you lose access to it. Blizzard's mobile authenticator also syncs well with your Google account and will restore on a newly flashed phone when you resync your Goggle account. Square's restores as well but wiped clean with a fresh install

Maybe I will try phone support, guessing the wait will be obscene. Actually scratch that, I just looked and it's long distance, no toll-free number.... wow

I think the registration e-mail comes with a one time removal or reset password. Try using that.

they dont tell you that you have to remove the token with an emergency password, which appears on your account after you register the token app, there is no notice of this however and one goes to assume you can just restore it like the blizzard one

i hope you get your account sorted out, SE customer service is the worst in the industry

guess i'm not playing tonight anyway, 3.5 GB to download...

I finally logged in after a while, and I've got 1GB to download. Although, as much as Square's game servers might not be reliable, their download servers are pretty top notch. I'm downloading at ~7MB/s.

I've been enjoying the story for the most part despite all it's meandering and silliness at times, but while the cutscene following the Garuda fight is pretty cool, the looong chain of 'go talk to X' both prior to and following it was pretty painful.

Some of the music in this game really stands out, the Titan and Garuda themes have been great.

For those crafting, the materia you can make are often worth more than your gear itself, at least when you can get grade 2 materia (itemlevel >=30 gear it seems). This didn't really 'click' for me earlier, I wish I'd thought of it as disenchanting items as they reach max spiritbond, getting the materia and replacing the item would have netted me a lot more useful materia for less than the cost of actually purchasing it I believe.

Also supposedly HQ items and items with materia in them gain spiritbond faster, so it may even be worthwhile dropping some crap resistance materia into your crafting gear to accelerate the cycle.

And for reference, at 50 with full HQ gear with empty materia slots you need +35 craftsmanship or +10 control for the 2* recipe requirements.

The story could definitely get some of it's fat trimmed big time. I had to do something like 10-15 odd fetch/delivery quests just to get access to haukkte manor, and that's not even past lvl 30. It literally took like 2-3 hours of running around and delivering stuff, just busy quests that aren't necessary.

"yeah you are blah blah but you gotta fetch me some wine to prove you're worthy"

Really?

I don't know about spiritbonds being faster in hq gear, but I tend to keep the HQ stuff around. I turn all my NQs into HQs whenever I level up enough or get enough mats, but I tend to max out the spiritbounds first and then make them into materia. But then this is low level gear so...

Are the ice/earth/etc resistance materias as worthless as I think they are (besides for maybe possibly raising spiritbonding)?

I've been spending the past 2-3 days just crafting the shit out of my various classes. Gained about 10 levels between all of them, some from just making ingots and base materials. Churned through something like 90 walnut logs yesterday.... and couldn't make it to the next piece of lumber (oak I think), and maintenance today means I won't be playing. So sad.

edit: On midgardsormr, but I'll be moving to hyperion when servers open up.

So far I'd say ele resist materia are useless, or rather, unnecessary. Maybe we'll eventually see primal fights where it's important to mitigate mass elemental damage, kind of like Mother Shahraz?

please no.

Having to farm elemental resistance gear (moltencore cough cough) was the dumbest fucking thing. Can you imagine the rage it would contribute to the endgame on top of the already elitist mentality?

"LFM Black temple raid must have black temple gear pst"

They just need to add elemental anything into the game. Killing earth elemetals with stone spells is beyond idiotic. In FF11 those same elementals would laugh at you and then shred you for casting near them with GA-II/III/IV spells on top of ridiculous physical resistance. Here it's just like "oh, an elemental."

reminded me of 2 days ago some guy was shouting in south shroud "LFM for FATE party, must be geared and experienced in fates"

at an area where people are just blazing through on quest reward gear...
