I know there are some that do it. Aion, for one, shows up earrings and necklaces, at the least (haven't noticed one way or the other for rings).

But, yeah, that is fairly rare for an mmo to do it.

Yeah and the earrings will move and swing when you move and stop as well which is nice.

yeah they also removed the belts from showing on armor, apparently it was not possible to show the belt graphics with the new engine, or thats what they said when they removed them, i liked how each belt had its own look and animation

Digging through compiled information, it does appear that ilvl55 stuff turns into tier 4 materia, it's just a very low rate. I don't know if I would waste my time/money making those...

You have to complete a spiritbond with an item to be able to get a materia out of it. It happens pretty quickly (spiritbonding) and there is even gear that can increase it more. But yes, it will destroy the item in the process of receiving the materia.

It isn't uncommon in late game for people to switch out a few pieces of gear just to spiritbond it as long as they are still able to do their job well.

Nope, you can't trigger macros from within macros (or other generic keystrokes), unless you use an out of game macro.

So, anyone else running AMD cards, just an FYI:

The latest beta drivers that include frame pacing - to address Crossfire primarily - now make this game run much smoother. It was running pretty choppy for me prior to the Catalyst 13.10 betas that are available now. (WHQL 13.9 that was just released does not have frame pacing.) I can imagine even for single GPU setups the frame pacing (and other driver optimizations in the beta for FFXIV) may help this game out.

I downloaded the 13.10 betas 2 weeks ago and didn't see any mention of any improvements regarding FFXIV ARR or frame pacing beyond several named titles.

However, it certainly hasn't harmed my FFXIV'ing.

That's because it was actually in the 13.8 betas.

Wait, now that I think about it, FFXIV's client is DX9...so frame pacing wouldn't actually be functioning here. Unless they just left out that DX9 is now supported with 13.10 betas. Oh well. We need the DX10 client to be released!

Yeah, I think I'm something like 0/10-12 for grade 4s from my crafting gear at least. For the most part I can break even on the cost of mats vs the value of the materias though, worth a shot at least.

48 GSM, 50 tonight. I found Amber Chokers in Mor Dhona to be a better leve than the Red Coral items in Uldah personally.

Has anyone seen any of their Grand Company turnins marked with a gold star and... like red italic text or something? I only just saw it for the first time last night, evidently a few of my friends have had it pop up for them. I feel like it might have granted more XP than usual.

yup, I see those but not very often. I do turn ins for all of my crafts every day and those mean extra exp and seals, I think roughly double of what you get normally.

blasted through 7 levels of culinarian yesterday (thanks to the vinegar -> cottage cheese combo!). I'll be making a full stack of dried prunes today, hopefully that'll get me 2-3 levels. I think I'll just be using free exp while crafting these things or it's kind of a waste.

The 12 boar leather leve popped on costa del sol yesterday so I netted about 86 boar leathers for turning in goat chokers... nice and cheap in comparison to getting it from the AH! Too bad I'm running low on crystals... time to finish leveling my alt for those extra crystals...

i didnt know getting crystals was difficult in ARR, i had over 1500 of each leftover from 1.0

i played mostly DoW yesterday, advanced a bit into the storyline quest and got 2 more levels on archer, tonight i will be crafting again

it's not hard to get crystals. I've just been powercrafting so I've burned through 1000 of each and only have a few left.

Shards are super easy to get if you care to go gathering, but you definitely use a ton of them. Once you hit level 40+ it's common for crafts to use 9-12 shards each. I've dipped pretty low in wind/fire/earth at times and every now and then there simply won't be any for sale if a few big buyers happen to hit the AH at roughly the same time.

judging from my math though, it takes about 6~ 7 hours to level all the new crafts to lvl 10, and that nets you about 800-1000 of each shard. You can't gather more than 100 shards an hour even with a lvl 50 miner, so its less time consuming to get a new guy to lvl 10 and run around the world to pick up everything.

I got kicked off the server last night after logging in and starting to craft...wasted some 1* mats =p...and I haven't been able to retrieve the NA/EU server list since then. GD SE. Already barely find time to play as it is.

They need to look into six sigma or something.

they had maintenance from like 7 PM to 9 PM EST, then from 1 AM to 2 AM EST.

i've been reading about it all day about people having issues and it's really frustrating to see square always retreating back into their shell. Almost a whole month through with promising server improvements, but then it sounds like the emergency maintenance fucked up something last night and square retreated back into their shell. And unsurprisingly this opened up old wounds and frustration on a lot of people.

I think all people really want is communication, communication, communication. SE needs to come out and say "hey, we heard you're having problems and we're looking into it. Stay tuned and stop yapping." I don't want them to collect all the facts and post up in a summary writeup after fixing the issue, by then I don't really give a shit. That's the kind of stuff you put in a debug writeup for your superiors at the end of the day and your paying customers just want some prompt updates.

Square's always been extremely slow on communications and updates and it's pretty frustrating.

Well then there may have even been a "warning server shutting down in 1 min" or something like that, but there's no way I'm gonna see it when I log in and the 1st thing I do is start crafting and filling the chat log with craft messages. I was able to log in about 30 mins ago thankfully, after hrs of trying off and on. I don't play the game anymore where I sit at the PC and spam login attempts til I can connect.

They've gotten a LOT better about communication since the 1.0 fiasco, but they're still clueless about many things.

I wasn't so much talking about the maintenance last night (they could've conveyed that better admittedly), but the fact that people are getting 90000'd all day today. So far there's one GM post that tells people to restart their clients and that's about it.

And finally...

I know...and I agree with you on that too. I just just haphazardly responding to both of you in my last post.

By the way, here's something I like about crafting: you never get a poor condition without first getting an excellent. Something I don't like: noticing the poor condition and knowing you skipped the excellent.
