he played 1.0, so all of his classes are more or less maxed.

The only thing I regret from losing my 1.0 character (used my friend's buddy pass so it had to be a british account...) was now all my skirts that I made are missing. >_>

I miss skirts.

Yeah, and I had (relatively) a lot of time to play when I was playing 1.0. But all that means now is I got a bunch of classes/jobs leveled and no idea how to play them since everything has changed. I don't have nearly that much time to play these days. All the folks I know from 1.0 are charging full steam ahead into the Coil of Bahamut with their relic weapons and darklight or better, and I finally beat main story Ifrit this past weekend.

I almost wish I'd started over, but I couldn't handle leveling everything again.

Sorry to hear your skirts are missing PowerYoga .

yeah i have cnj at 30 from 1.0, cant bring myself to play it as i have no idea how to play a healer, dps classes or tanks are another story, just check out skills, figure out a rotation and off you go, having fun times with archer right now but struggling between gathering, crafting and pewpewing

queue up for satasha and figure out how to heal once again. The lowbies will appreciate the queue and you can figure out how to heal without having to feel like a noob at lvl 30. Then move up the dungeons and eventually you'll end up at brayflox's longstop at 30~ ish (i think they let you queue up at 30.... )

i was thinking of queueing up with a friend who just started the game as marauder, if i put on level 30 gear and level sync down to 16-17, will the gear become useless?
back in ffxi when you level synced your gear it became worse than the lower level equivalents, so im trying to figure out if i should buy some lowbie gear or just throw on the highest i can wear and save some crate space

I don't think it's "worthless", they just lose stats. I had a 35 sword synced down to 32 (was running brayflox) and it lost some stats and base damage.

I imagine your losses from 30 sync down to 15 will be a lot more severe, but at lvl 15 your stats really don't matter that much. Plus you'll be healer; your gear matters much less than the tank's. Some food will make that difference right up. You can tell in the instance as well, just open up your character sheets and look at the gear you have with the yellow "cracked" mark over it.

Your stuff gets synced down, but from my own experience, when I went back and played a dungeon that I previously did quite a few levels ago, I was much more power than I was previously. I believe when your gear gets synced down they sync it down to what is the upper/top limit of gear for that level. I have no numbers to back this up, just my own personal experiences over the course of playing (I ran lots of low and mid lvl dungeons when I was much higher level to help friends out).

woot, 50 alc. Thank you lanolin cubes! Cheap and uses my useless water crystals and gives 5k exp a pop per synth. 5x for a triple turn in, 10k x 3 for regular and 90k for HQs.

Now only if quicktongues aren't 45k ea...

Intimidating only in your mind. Focus on only healing at first, then you'll realize you have plenty of time to DPS, too. It's pretty easy once you get into the swing of it. ^^

I was gonna suggest something like this as well. It's how I've been learning CON. The level sync makes it easier to learn the utility of your earlier skills without having to jump into the fire and know how to use all of them right away.

Not to mention it's super handy to have CON leveled as you're progressing through the story quests so you can queue up as a healer. I've been doing the main story quests as I level my ACN, but after waiting for ages in a DPS queue, I just started using CON. It's practically instantaneous!

Thankfully I got SCH unlocked last night though, so now I can use that instead.

You know...to be honest I'm actually not enjoying CON at lower levels. I hope it picks up at 30+. I haven't really looked at the higher level skills yet, but the WHM skills look pretty good at least.

My Thaum is 25, I want to go to black mage. I have archer up to 15 which is what is required for blm if i'm not mistaken. so do i just switch to blm at 30 on my thaum and be like lvl 1 blm or does blm take over for thaum? can I continue to level up past 30 on thaum or like i said, does thaum turn into blm and you have a lvl 30 blm and the thaum is gone?

BLM and THM share exp/levels, but you can switch between them at any time you'd normally be able to switch classes. So as you level BLM, you're also leveling THM and vice versa.

This is a summary of the differences between classes and jobs:

a class gets 10 slots @ level 50 to equip cross-class abilities, and can equip cross-class abilities from any other class

a job gets stat boosts over the associated class (in most cases* around +10 to every stat except +20 to 1 major stat), can equip 5 cross-class abilities but only from a couple of select classes, and gets 5 job-unique abilities in place of the last 5 cross-class slots

*Scholar is the only one that doesn't follow this model currently, because SCH's role is a healer and arcanist by default is waaaaaaaaay below conjurer in MND, so SCH gets something like +80 MND over arcanist.

The myth caps are really annoying. I wish I would have focused on my Dragoon instead of also leveling Carpenter and Leatherworker so I could have started on the myth tomes earlier... at least I'm set with decent Gil.

Sigh, I need 1 more week to + 1 my relic. I'll probably be full DL by this weekend and + 1 on my relic by next week.

Anybody have terrible lag spikes? Just started about an hour ago where it's 5-10 seconds between every button click. Can barely craft an item and I don't even want to think about doing a dungeon.

Yup, I was experiencing serious lag for about an hour @2:30pm EST. I just wanted to finish my little crafting session and head to bed, and it ended up taking a lot longer than it should've.

I'm on Balmung. Ran some ping tests to known servers and it definitely was not my net. I thought I was crazy because no one else was complaining about it and just going about their business. May have been a switch to the servers I guess.

going to hit 50 for goldsmith next. got to 43, going to run through all the leves I can... 90k a pop should get me there in 1 or 2 days. Only concern is running out of mythril ingots...

speaking of which, who the heck makes the AFs for all the crafters? Please don't tell me it's just the weaver and leatherworker.

I'm on Balmung, and haven't noticed any problems. Of course I cannot play at that time of day. Wish I could though...

Mythril should be very cheap, as it is heavily farmed. Any time I go out to mine it, there is at least 5 other people running around. You can probably buy ingots for less than the cost of the mats, especially when you consider shards. If you need HQ, they tend to run around 1k on my server.

GSM makes 3 hats, ARM makes 1 hat 1 feet (and 1 DoL hat), LTW &WVR make the rest. CRP and ARM make a couple of offhand tools each iirc, and BSM makes the others.

Mythril on my server fluctuates greatly for some reason. Some days I'm seeing ingots for 1k a piece. I've started to mine my own mythril but it's a painstaking process since I need 9 ingots for a turn in.

Anyway, comfort zone is pretty awesome. I rarely have any problems with CP, and I can refresh it 2-3 times on long crafts. Steady hand 2 also eliminates a lot of the "chain failures" that I see with steady hand 1. Now I can reliably HQ everything (barring REALLY bad luck) that's immediately within my craftable range, and that feels pretty awesome.

Up to 38 weaver, been focusing mostly on cotton/linen due to price of diremite web and fleece. However turning in cotton leves in Quarrymill up to 25ish net me 140 diremite web as part of their rewards, so had some velveteen to work with anyway. Probably going to try to get to 40 simply off linen yarn/cloth/leves and do the linen deerstalker leve 40-45, possibly even 50.

Also I highly recommend 'cycling' crafting gear 30+ if you can swing it. I've made it a point to turn everything 30+ into materia during GSM and WVR, then replace it with more HQ gear with 2-3 materia, bond, disenchant and repeat. Grade 2 crafting materia are pretty valuable on my server, especially Control +2.

I quite like Wanderer's Palace. Not as many tomes, but you can make some cash and it's a nice change of scenery and pace. I'd say some of the gear there is superior to that of AK as well.
