15 more alch, 15 more armorer and 7 more cook until Builder of the Realm lol. It'll be nice to be able to make all my own food at least, it's not real expensive but a few thousand every now and then adds up especially when so many of the mats are a dime a dozen.

Also I really really enjoy warrior. It's just fun swinging that bigass axe around and I really like their balance of damage/hp/threat/aoe, at least at 30 something. I hope as time goes on gear/stats get fleshed out a bit more and we see tank stats beyond parry and vitality.

Did CM and Praetorium last night to finish the main story. Had a leech tank in Praetorium so I was tanking everything, but fortunately the party was great so we just burned everything down. Can't wait for vote kick to get patched in.

The CM run went very quickly. Had a tank that knew what he was doing and showed me the ropes and routes for the most part, but unfortunately it's hard to memorize, being the first time there and whatnot. With the 2 runs I had enough to buy a belt... which is nice, since it replaced a lvl 36.

Going to start up relic quest and then start doing ifrit hardmode after I craft the base relic weapon so I have something to use in the mean time. Hopefully won't have to run it too many times for the sword...

I switched machines this week and i forgot to backup the ffxiv install, launcher has had abysmal speeds so i decided to overnight it, woke up to only 3gb downloaded out of around 9, decided to screw it and torrented the disk image, gonna see if i can finish updating tonight to start playing again, havent played much all week so my leves will be capped, gonna burn through culinarian to get it to 37, hopefully i can make it with around 200k i have in the pocket , if not i will just farm and farm until i can finish

Had to factory reset my phone (thank you Samsung for getting rid of one phonekiller bug only to introduce another annoying one) and thus need to use my Emergency Recovery Password (I use that Square Enix app/one-time password for extra security).

Only my password does not bloody work (tried it enough times for the automated system to ban me for a few minutes). It's 7:48am so I'm just going to have a third cup of tea, second breakfast and take 1 more shot at it before typing a help question on a random forum and curling up into the fetal position, rocking myself back and forth until I get back in.

Looking forward to tomorrow as that is when the sub fee's start kicking in so we should get rid of a lot of scrubs now.

Wow, I ran CM so many times today. I think I could probably run it in my sleep.

I have managed to get quite a few bits of gear now. I really need the pants and shirt though, so I can progress.

Only 17 more runs :\

After that, all I'll have left are neck and earring thats still utter crap. But, I'll take a break after the main 2, and work on getting some money, so I can continue on with the primal quest, and also hit AM to get my flame company quest done as well.

I hope I can at least get the pants done tomorrow, before my eyes start bleeding

By contrast to the # of CM runs it takes to buy all your darklight, it'll take 23 AK runs (but also 3 weeks due to 300/week cap) to collect the 900 mythology tomes needed to get 1 piece of ilvl 90 "AF+1" armor, and you still get a good number of philosophy each run too. But most folks will probably get relic weapon +1 before any AF+1. Just point that out to say it really makes sense to throw in some AK runs each week, rather than just run CM. You don't NEED full darklight before you start on AK.

And, wow at those ifrit drops. That just doesn't make any sense.

Can anybody tell me if Final Fantasy 14 has one big seamless world? (like Vanilla WoW) I hate when servers break you up and groups everyone in different instances, I'm thinking Guild Wars 2 here and some other MMO's. The only time I don't mind a seperate instance are for dungeons and maybe a few other rare cases.

Each zone you have to well zone/loading into but there are not multiple instances of each area. If you ever played Everquest or FF11 you know what I mean. Actually, you know how in Guild Wars 2 you had to zone and load into a new area, you do that in FF14 but there are not multiple instances of that area just 1 for everyone. Though dungeons are instances and each group has their own.

And, wow at those ifrit drops. That just doesn't make any sense.

I pretty much wanted to get the visible pieces, plus belt, of the darklight, which wouldn't have been so bad.

But, when I'd saved up enough to by the first one, I realized just how crap my accessories were. So, bought a couple of those instead. Then, bought another.

So, by the time I really started saving up for the goal, I was already burned out on CM big time.

Well, it's still my goal, and now I'm only 5 runs away from that goal. Probably finish it up Tuesday (doubt I'll get 5 on one work night). The only pieces I'll have non darklight at that point will be earing, neck, and hat.

Well, to be honest, I'm probably continuing on at this point cause I'm stubbon After that, I need to earn some money. I took everything I could sell, and put on the market. Maybe half sold so far, but that netted me maybe 20k total. And, repair bills for all the cm runs since I put them on the market have probably been 5k or more. So, I still need some more before I can continue on with the artifact weapon quest. I just haven't figured out how I want to go about making the money.

Quickest would probably be farming a few more cm run, and sell materials from the tombs. I'm not real keen on that atm though

Or, there is going through AK. Since I havent been before, I dunno how that would be for money though.

The slowest route would probably just start kicking out leve's. Since I'm maxed out, could probably burn through quite a few of those if I wanted. heh, at least it would be relaxing.

I'm not sure I'll ever bother farming any higher than darklight though. I don't have a real burning drive to want the best armor, and I certainly don't have the patience. I'm doing what I'm doing now just cause I hated the banana monk suit, strangely enough

this is my grip with the game and some other MMO's i want open worlds like WoW/Rift this feels like SWTOR.. locked into valleys and zones with only a few exits and load screen city. It could be cause i'm still lower level not even 20 yet, but so far its no enticing me to sub.

50 armorer/50 alch and nearly 48 cook. Almost done

And for what it's worth, Darklight really is not substantially better than the sets you get out of CM in many cases. I wouldn't kill yourself over it by any means. It's nice but we still have plenty of AK (and even my WP belt lol) while running coil and it hasn't really been an issue.

Downed Coil1 and 2 pretty quickly. I think we stopped sucking this week finally. I'd like to poke around in 3 at some point before going to 4, if nothing else bouncing around in there is pretty amusing.

Also warrior is awesome. And I really like XPing through dungeons; I just wish you could enter dungeons earlier than their level, it would make a world of difference to the way people XP since chaining in them can be really great XP... but only for one level currently. Though you still do ok being a level or two over them too.

Problem is because this is also out on the PS3 and you're limited by the system memory and resources. You can't have one big seamless world when you design for consoles.

I tried to get into a few AK groups last night but nobody wanted to take a new tank. I don't know if it's mostly gear or just people want to do reliable runs, but I can't really get any experience with AK when everybody wants an experienced tank. I looked at videos of speed runs and I guess I can understand why it's so important to have a good tank there though, there's a ton of trash/death runs involved even post patch. I guess I can try to do it through duty finder.

How far do you have to go through AK to finish the relic quest? Do you have to finish the whole dungeon?

I'm curious as to why you find this an important feature? I mean it's only a few seconds on a loading screen. Plus once you unlock an area, 99% of the time you just teleport from one area to the next anyways.

You have to finish it. The new "speed" runs only shave off a few minutes unless you have bad DPS to start with. As a tank you could just use the DF

That's encouraging to hear. I'll try that tonight and hopefully run into a nice group of people. I haven't had any real bad experiences with duty-finding Ifrit either so far, so hopefully this will be similar.

Also finally got my ifrit's blade after 30 runs total yesterday; only saw the blade twice. On the bright side, I have MRD and monk weapons all ready whenever I decide to level them. >_>

So I have a bunch of AF pieces and I've been steadily replacing my jewlery (biggest upgrade imho). Do you get a better shield anywhere in AK, or should I be running WP for the lvl 50 shield?

On a side note: ran WP and got queued up with 3 relic + 1 geared people (2 BRD 1 SCH) from different servers all decked out in darklight and a few pieces of AK gear. I think they were running for the pudding pet, but I was surprised that I was still able to hold aggro from the BRDs, although one of them was holding back a bit I think. Gives me a bit of hope on how the hate scales in accordance to weapon damage.

No shields in AK, WP is the only option I know of as far as drops go until you can get your relic shield.

Solution to boring elitist runs? HQ craft your own?

Don't get me wrong, you can craft pretty good ilvl70 gear, but there's no way to do it without some sort of repetitive farming. Either you obtain enough gil to buy certain mats off the AH, or you do the "boring elitist runs" in order to purchase them with tomes. If you're good at playing the AH and have the patience for it, it might not be so bad, but it isn't cheap to make the ilvl70 crafted gear + make them good with expensive melds. At 40k a piece, you're looking at ~360k - 1.08M just on tome mats for each piece of crafted ilvl70 gear. I've heard it really isn't that hard, but you're still not guaranteed HQ. Then of course you gotta meld to progress from there, and it still won't be better than the ilvl90 gear that probably is much easier to obtain.

But you can do it solo.

Oh, something I meant to ask earlier, but regarding selling the darklight vendor crafting mats, is there any of them more in demand than others? Or are they all pretty much the same as far as demand goes?

check your server. Generally what they do is shout in MD until a buyer comes forward and then they'll buy whichever mats they want to pay for, and it's 20-45k depending on the day of the week.
