Ok so if you are just starting up your 2nd level 50 stop now and make them on a 2nd character.

If you do them on the same character, the lockout/caps apply to all. Seriously it's like a hidden way to keep you playing longer.

Especially with a 300 weekly tome cap. That's already a HUGE restriction considering the cost of items. Now you have to share that 300 cap with your alt? No thanks!

Ran coil for gear once with your DPS already but your friends need your tank? Sorry, you can't help them until next week!

You can help them, you just wont get more mytho tomes. I run AK more than 8 times a week to help out some FC members get good queue times since theirs suck as DPS. Do I like doing it? No, but I am willing to help my FC and friends.

I do agree though the cap needs to be raised, even to like 500 would make it much much better. Maybe when 2.1 hits it will be adjusted.

Well think about it this way, if you have a legacy character you'll have maxed classes. That would let you do 8 different coil runs for 8 different chances to get gear, no matter what drops. With 300 Myth domes per class you can get 2400 tomes a week.... seems like you'd able to get everything within a week and that's not something they want you to do.

edit: unrelated: were they planning on putting in graphcis for magitek armor attacks or no? All I get is a small "damage" sound and then I lose like 600 hp or something.

This is true but to build it with that in mind as a primary concern is completely wrong on their part.

The number of legacy players with 8 level 50s is probably a tiny % of their player base.

Oh, something I meant to ask earlier, but regarding selling the darklight vendor crafting mats, is there any of them more in demand than others? Or are they all pretty much the same as far as demand goes?

Peacock Ore and Potash are probably the two in greatest demand on mine at least. Animal Fat and Coke are close though. Then the delta between those four and all the rest is pretty huge, at least on my server (I doubt it would differ much on others). If you want to put them on the AH, stick with those four. But if you go to Revenant's Toll and sell over shout, just buy whatever the person who PMs you asks for.

With the speed of fate grinds, you can probably have 3-4 lvl 50s very easily within 2 weeks if you played hardcore.... which has already happened in less than a month of the game being released. I see a ton of people that have 4-5 lvl 50s already on midgard, and it's not a legacy world.

Even with only half of the classes, that's like 1200 tomes, which is 2-3 piece of AF2 gear every week. You'd run out of stuff to do very very quickly, then hardcore people would cry "no content this game sux" and casuals would cry "omg unfair only people with multiple classes get more tomes give casuals more tomes plz".

Don't get me wrong, I think it would be fantastic to be able to get so many tomes in a week but it really trivializes progress. It also creates a new problem where it handily rewards people with a lot of time and severely punishes people who only have 1 lvl 50 class. Seeing how elitist people already are with AK runs, I don't even want to think about the snobbery that would result.

Seeing how many stupid ifrit runs I did just for some random loot, I'm all for turn-ins but I don't think allowing more tomes a week is a great way of approaching it. The amount of tomes they came up with is probably in line with the pace of gearing up they want you to be doing, and while I'm all for instant gratification I also understand that it's not the best idea.

How did you farm the Level 3 materia for your first relic weapon quest? I have DEd about 10 things and haven't gotten the one I need and there is no way for me to get level 45-54 gear without doing the 47 dungeon. Maybe I shoudl bite the bullet and pay 9k for each one.

Bite the bullet. 9K is so cheap next to what I had to pay to get mine. Thankfully getting it for my alts will be cheaper

battledance is about 40k, and heavens eye is about 30k. 9k is cheap.

I'm curious as to why you find this an important feature? I mean it's only a few seconds on a loading screen. Plus once you unlock an area, 99% of the time you just teleport from one area to the next anyways.

To me, an MMO loses immersion when zoning takes place. I think of zoning as kind of like a parrallel world ie, we could be on the same server in the same location and still not be able to see each other as a result of being in a different instance. This can also effect gameplay if the zoning/teleporting are bad enough. Remember the days when people use to race from Dun Morogh to Duskwallow Marsh or even better from one end of the continent to the other. I couldn't imagine doing something similiar in a game like Guild Wars 2, the seperation was so horrible it felt like I was being transported to a new/different instance every 5 minutes.

Some of my favorite times while playing WoW was when I was out exploring and meeting new players, etc. When you have several instances of the same place this obviously cuts down on the playerbase and interaction with others. I despise it. And it feels more like I'm playing a Multiplayer game instead of a massively multiplayer online.

If FF14 is like KaOTiK mentioned and there is only a loading screen when entering a new area then that's fine, I don't mind that at all.

there are no different instances for the same zones, only dungeons are like that

Did 2 AK runs and did most of relic (need garuda and titan, hydra was a bitch), got another darklight piece...

pretty productive night! AK is not bad at all, but as a tank it doesn't really matter. Partied up with a relic +1 BLM and his DPS makes me cry as a tank... I was only able to hold aggro for bout 10 seconds before he rips it off of me, so I just stun the mob, which dies within 6 seconds anyway.

Then we managed to kill the wall right after the 2nd repel. No bees even spawned...

AK's pretty doable as a tank, even with only a few pieces of DL accessories, but it's important to have the ifrit blade imo to hold hate at least steadily enough so mobs don't rip DPS to shreds.

I've looked at savage aim 3 2 different times on the auction house. First time, cheapest was 30k. Second time cheapest was 41k. And, the most gil I've ever had was 50k total (that was before I bought the weapon for that quest, and spent alot of cash on repair bills doing endless cm runs).

Well, actually, thinking back on it, I wonder if I actually looked at the number in the stack, when I was looking. For all I know, they were 10k apiece, and selling 3 or 4

On another note, I was wrong. Didn't think I'd be able to do 5 cm runs on a week night, but I somehow managed

So, got the last piece of darklight gear that I really wanted. All thats left now is hat, neck, and earrings. I'm actually considering farming enough tomes for the hat now, since it will give me more health. But, what I have now should be enough to get me through AK, and the hard mode primals, I think? Health is just over 3.3k now.

Most likely though, I'll just hit cm 3 or 4 more times, buy a few ingredients, see if I can sell them, and continue on with a relic reborn. That, and at least 1 run of AK so I can clear out that flame company quest I've been sitting on for so long.

of course your milage may vary with prices. Savage aim was quite cheap on my server, about 9k last time I checked.... but prices may have gone up.

Every price I hear quoted on just about everything for any other server always seems slightly higher or substantially higher than Leviathan. Battledance 3s are at or below 20k, Savage Aim 3 at or below 20k, Heavens Eye 3 at or below 10k generally. And all the 2star items I've seen sales quotes for on reddit have been like 2-4x the price they are on Leviathan too.

For supposedly being one of the most highly populated servers I would have expected that to be reversed, at least on some items (materia makes sense admittedly). Maybe people on didn't gilbuy as heavily or maybe there are enough people that the gilbuyers had less of an impact.

if the server is more populated i would assume it would be more expensive as there would be higher demand

as the population moves to end game and starts doing massive amounts of runs in AK and CM, I would imagine the price would come DOWN as there would be a glut of spiritbonded gear. It only takes 2 runs to fully bond a HQ piece of gear melded with some junk materia; I've done less than 15 CM runs and have walked away with about 20 high demand materia, and I've only stopped bonding gear because I ran out of gear to bond with. Once my armorer is up to 43 (maybe later today) I'll be making full sets of cobalt gear to bond with.

I'm on Marlboro. I don't really know what prices are like, comparatively speaking, with other servers. I think Marlboro is probably one of the lighter pop US servers though.

Side note - the gold spammers seem to have gotten at least a little smarter. I zone into Ul'dah, no gold spam. Zone over to the tradeskill side, and there it is. They also are sending them over to the zone, that I can't remember the name of, where the darklight vendors are. No longer possible to avoid them, heh.

side note #2 - Is there an easy way to set up item sales on your retainer? By that, I mean, checking prices. I was running back and forth between the auction board, and the retainers, doing price checks. Got smart enough to write down the stuff I was trying to sell, price check them all at the same time, and then putting them all up for sale at the same time. I just wondered if there was an easier way to check prices, something I'm missing.

I wondered if the phone ap could check the auction house. Well, not doing me any good either way, until they release the android version.

When you try to put something up for sale, click the little "sheet" on the upper right hand side of the price pop-up. It shows you the current pricing.

When you go to set up the sale, there should be a button on the top right of the window where you set their price that'll show you the current market prices of the item.

When should I start garuda HMs? Don't have a single piece of visible gear of DL and have about 4.8k HP on my pally. The fight seems more technical than anything else, but is there anything that would make the fight a bit easier (other than watching videos like 100s of times)

Eh, now that I've farmed CM so much, I can't seem to stop anymore. Got the hat now, just 2 slots left. I figure now that I've come this far, might as well just finish it up

And, I rechecked prices on the auction house last night too. The cheapest Savage Aims are indeed 40k, per. I also price checked all the ingredients from the dark light vendor too, on the AH. There were 2 that were fairly cheap, around 10k each. The rest were anywhere from 30k each, to 80k each. If people actually pay that much, it's certainly a good way to make money. There was 1 that wasn't on the AH, Meridium, Moridium, or something to that affect. Made me wonder if noone wants it, or is it just that popular.
