I've been lucky, I've been on playing with no problems since around 3-4pm est

I was on, then I tried to change zones to do a quest and got kicked out. Can't get back since.

The whole "early access" is a joke and if you preordered, my suggestion is to cancel it and wait a month for square to figure their shit out. They have no idea what they're doing.

On the bright side, I don't feel like I've missed much of anything by not having early access lol; though most of my friends were all able to play a fair bit. Here's hoping they get some of the problems resolved before true launch.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're getting far more traffic than anticipated though. The NA/EU gaming scene really hits 'flavor of the month' games hard, and up until phase 3 I don't think ARR was really getting much attention. Then more people got into phase 3, saw more towns, played more classes, explored more of the game and people started streaming it and talking/tweeting/posting about it and it all snowballed.

I haven't been able to login with my legacy chars yet at all. Always a 'cannot retrieve world info' or 'server full'. But yeah, doesn't sound worth it atm. Disappointing.

if its anything like ealry access dont expect to login normally yet, maybe if you bruteforce trhough it (server full, try again), i tried to get in through out all day yesterday and i couldnt get past that

Never, Ever, Ever take off of work to play an MMO on release day. If you really wanna take off to play an MMO, wait a few weeks for it to be stable. You will do nothing but sit at home and pissed you took off of work to look at a server status screen.

This weekend reinforces this. While some people didn't have any trouble getting online and staying there, many of us did. It wasn't the worst MMO launch I've seen, but it's still frustrating when you want to play but can't.

I've been playing on Aegis, and have had no issues since the start of Early Access. Strange.

the problem was mainly for NA/EU servers, a couple of people i know just out and moved to a JP server and were able to play smoothly through the weekend

yeah, don't. In fact I'd actually wait a week or 2 for square to get their shit together. Right now they limited the number of players on the server AND they don't have a queue, so you can't just queue up and then go make a sandwich/watch TV, you have to keep pressing the login button.

I'm going to guess it's through the ingame mail. I think you just won't get any of it until official release.

I got my 'onion helm' for 1.0 CE in the game mail.

The preorder items are now in your mailbox. You wont get your CE items till you register your actual game key to your account and you will receive them in the mail as well. Pretty standard thing for MMO's.

Once FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn is officially launched, players will need to use a registration code (for the Windows version of the game) or a product code (for the PlayStation 3 version of the game) in order to obtain entitlements for each respective platform. When registering an entitlement, you will be able choose between registering it to an existing service account which you have previously played FINAL FANTASY XIV on, or registering it to a completely new service account.

So, apparently Square-Enix decided that it would be a great idea to disallow you from monetizing off a video with Final Fantasy XIV content in it. Did they not see all the crap Nintendo got for doing it earlier?

So...I decided I won't be playing this. I tried. I'm not sure how many hours I've put into it, but I've went through a number of roles and everyone is essentially the same exact thing. I'm just finding it's monotonous after so long. Way too much running from one end of the map to the other on fetch quests that I don't care about even reading what they are aside from the class quests. I spend more time watching the mini-map than admiring the view because you do it so much. Then you start other classes and rinse and repeat.

I realize, this is essentially what any role playing game has you do, but I think that's the point. Why would I pay month to month for this? Just not the right time in my life for this.

In regards to nintendo: Maybe some folks complained about it, and there will now be fewer videos in certain circles etc, but that doesn't automatically equate to it being a bad decision for the company.

I just got to 30 on my Thaum/15 arc and did the Level 30 quest. Should this have given me the soul for BLM job or do I need to do another quest for this?

I heard about people talking about questing for the soul crystal. Check around the forums (not this one) to see if you can find some hints. There's no consolidated place to look for this stuff yet, so I just google it.

When I got my WHM soul crystal (already had ACN up to 15 so when I hit 30 on CNJ I was good to go) I went to the CNJ guild when I hit 30 and the level 30 quest for the class from the guildmaster was to get my WHM soul crystal. Had to do like 2-3 quest chain off of that quest and that was it. Also got my unicorn, that thing is pretty ugly lol.

Last night was the first night where I was unable to log in. Damn all the additional people on release day. I spammed login for about 20-30 minutes before I gave up and did something productive. Bring forth a queue already...
